  1. LSU dismantled preseason number 10 Auburn, and Mizzou has trailed for about 10 seconds this season. I was surprised to see BYU that high too.
  2. New Coaches poll. 1. Oklahoma (57) 1520 2. LSU (1) 1399 3. Missouri 1398 4. Alabama (2) 1350 5. Texas (1) 1310 6. Penn St. 1146 7. BYU (4-0) 1054 8. Texas Tech 1047 9. USC 990 10. 3. I have no idea what a pity fan is.
  4. A 4 loss Michigan team beat Florida in Orlando. There is no way to spin that as being a positive thing for the SEC.
  5. There aren't exactly an abundance of great options for that spot if DeRosa doesn't play. so we're completely writing off Kosuke now? Kosuke has a .621 OPS in the second half and .475 in September. I'm saying he's not such a slam dunk that advocating the red hot Hoffpauir is worthy of derision.
  6. Rivers
  7. I think the point of the thread was regarding whether he should make the playoff roster over Ward, not replace Lee as the everyday starter at first. i think people are suggesting he start in RF if DeRosa isn't healthy There aren't exactly an abundance of great options for that spot if DeRosa doesn't play.
  8. Have the mets lose one of their next two, and sweep the Brewers into obscurity. The Mets make it in over the Brewers, Santana has to pitch on Sunday, the Brewers don't get their playoff revenue and can't keep the necessary pitching to be competitive next year, it's the best of all worlds
  9. Everyone throws a screwball nowadays, they just call it a two-seamer.
  10. The fact that people get denied applications for adoption doesn't mean there is not a shortage of adoptive parents. http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb/stats_research/afcars/trends.htm And that's just in the United States.
  11. The worst team so it's the easiest route. So the Twins. Save that, the "best" team to shut up the AL. So the Angels. Which works out well since they're actually the second worst team.
  12. Is that the goal that comes after "choke away national title opportunity to an awful team"?
  13. Um, what? Define "productive." There are 12 players with 140+ strikeouts. 8 of them have at least an .850 OPS, and 2 more are center fielders slightly above .800. There are 30 players with less than 70 strikeouts. 8 of them have at least an .800 OPS. 7 are in the .600's.
  14. Look for yourself.
  15. Slaton, Ocho Cinco, or Braylon EDIT: I guess throw Edge James in there too since he's starting at a RB slot.
  16. What's their incentive? He's not a FA until after 2010 and is the only pitcher with any ability on their roster save Soria.
  17. i'll go out on a limb and guess it won't be played in West Lafayette Duke is coming to Purdue this year. color me shocked. Duke almost NEVER plays an OOC game outside of North Carolina The B10/ACC Challenge is pretty much the only time they do so. And the game is in West Lafayette.
  18. Can you really call Dempster a low upside guy compared to Burnett? You can argue the likelihood of him repeating it, but this year is just as good or better than any year of Burnett's career.
  19. A couple have already gone for weed.
  20. Any other notes on him defensively aside from arm strength? My brief recollection of him from the Cleveland system was that he was a RF
  21. In Columbia we're obligated to get both the Rams and the Chiefs, I wonder if they'll combine to get 10 wins combined...if you include last year.
  22. 3 straight SEC teams in front of Mizzou, that's no fun. It'd be less annoying if my homer self didn't think we'd beat each of them by at least 2 touchdowns.
  23. Is it still a rule that it's not roughing the kicker if you get blocked into the kicker?
  24. The Big 12 is doing quite nicely in this mini Big 12/Big East Challenge this week.
  25. The converse of that being: 2B Weeks CF FA (Cameron?) LF Braun 1B Gamel RF Hart 3B Hall? C FA (Kendall?) SS Escobar Cain, Gallardo, Parra, Suppan, Bush, with the chance of a FA and another shaky pen. I don't think that makes them better in '09. I'd really doubt that team contends for the playoffs without someone like Gamel having a Pujolsian transition to MLB, or something like Cain and Gallardo picking up where they left off plus Parra turning into 2007 Rich Hill.
