  1. There's a huge gap in basketball between C-USA and the Big XII.
  2. According to what? fielding statistics. he's not adam everett good, someone was right about that, but he's in the next level defensively. What statistics?
  3. I was going to suggest using the strength of North teams faced as a tiebreaker, but those are actually tied for all 3 teams in the South as well(Texas would've been ahead had either Mizzou or Colorado hung on to win this weekend). Since you're dying to know, Mizzou's Offensive Coordinator Dave Christensen took the head coaching job at Wyoming. He's staying to coach through the bowl game. Speaking of Bowl Games, Mizzou is locked into theirs now. They win Saturday(lol) and go to the Fiesta, they lose Saturday and go to the Alamo to face either Iowa or Northwestern, according to the Alamo Bowl selection committee.
  4. Gregg Sucks even compared to Howry. And Hendry is not a good GM. http://www.fangraphs.com/comparison.aspx?playerid=1793&playerid2=237&playerid3=&position=P&page=3&type=full You are being ridiculous. Gregg is better, much better, than what we got from Howry last year. Yes, Gregg walks too many guys, but he's fine at everything else. Last year Howry didn't walk many guys, and was awful at everything else.
  5. Can we stop with the hyperbole? Hendry is not an awful GM. Muskat getting a date wrong doesn't mean she has no clue about the Cubs' intentions with Wood(doesn't mean she does have a clue either). Gregg is not terrible, and to say he's not an upgrade over 2008 Howry is insane.
  6. 7 million is entirely too much to pay for an average defensive shortstop with below average offense, especially a 31 year old with recent injury troubles that you are trading for. We're essentially describing Ronny Cedeno or the dozens of comparable players across different minor league systems. This is why it's insane for the Pirates to have such demands for Wilson in trade. His PMR, Win Shares, and RZR don't change very much at all going back a few years. According to what?
  7. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/BCS-Realpolitik-Oklahoma-it-is-but-a-new-route?urn=ncaaf,125550
  8. except he's eclipsed those numbers 2 of the past 6 years, which means it's hardly a lock. he adds probably 15 runs a year with his glove and plays a position where even average offensive players (o. cabrera) get paid $10M. paying jack wilson an average of $7M per year has very, very little to do with why the pirates have been so bad. I'm extremely skeptical Wilson adds 15 runs a year defensively, is there evidence that he's that elite with the glove? PMR says he's about half that, and Win Shares and RZR put him in the middle of the pack defensively among shortstops. Yes, Wilson has been average offensively in the past. He's a 31 year old who's a career sub-.700 OPS and sub-.320 OBP, are teams supposed to gamble on that happening for the second time in 5 years with a Wilson who's leaving his prime and missed half a season last year due to injury? And again, any team trading for him has him for only one year unless they want to pay him 8+ million in 2010. People talk badly about Jack Wilson because he's not good at all, and he's very expensive for his production.
  9. Safety first, Sam, sit this one out.
  10. It's far from scientific when it comes to international prospects. Here's an article posted February 12 talking about the signing. http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:9fxMbP6-rL8J:tigers.scout.com/2/728631.html+tigers+sign+guichardo&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us
  11. You sell out for pressure and it takes too long to get around the enormous O-Line and Bradford checks down. You play coverage and DeMarco Murray is grabbing cornerbacks by the throat and sacrificing them to the football gods 15 yards downfield. Ok, I guess it was wrong of me to suggest that opposing defenses were doing anything less than their very best work at scheming against Oklahoma. They should continue to resign themselves to Bradford completing 70% of his throws at 10.5 YPA for a 7/1 touchdown to interception ratio. You're right, defensive coordinators couldn't be doing any better a job at game planning against OU. I hear in preparations they just go help the offense cause they're gonna need it to score 70 to keep pace with OU. Seriously, do you really think OU is that simple to stop? They light up everyone, and they played one of the best defenses from two other conferences, so it's not like this exclusively a Big 12 mystery.

  13. and put him in the major league bullpen? He's got to make the MLB roster or be waived.
  14. Wilson is no Adam Everett defensively. And he's pretty much a lock for a sub-.700 OPS and a sub-.320 OBP. And he's 31 next season. And he makes more than 7 million. And he's only under team control for a year unless you want to pay him 8.4 million in 2010.
  15. What a disaster of a game. I liked the gold jerseys, but mostly because I was afraid they'd look like West Virginia yellow. Carl Gettis picked an awful time to have a bad game, and we got torched over and over because they lined up Meier against our worst secondary member. Reesing should've been sacked a half dozen more times than he was, he single handedly won the game with how many times he not only avoided sacks, but then managed miracle completions.
  16. Lee + Marquis + a couple million of the 10-15 million likely remaining in a budget = Peavy + Teixeira
  17. Teixeira plz. Seriously, acquiring Peavy, getting rid of Lee and being able to acquire Teixeira instead seems ridiculously awesome. RHP/LHP Soriano Fontenot/DeRosa Teixeira Ramirez Soto DeRosa/Johnson Kosuke/Theriot Theriot/Cedeno Peavy, Z, Harden, Lilly, Dempster That's unbelievable.
  18. There has been talk of them going to the MWC. That move would make a lot of sense. I'm confused as to how it would. Does the MWC have better exposure, or would it just make more sense geographically? It has it's own network now in addition to games on Versus and the ESPN family, as opposed to just ESPN games in the WAC. It'd be a huge competitive step up too, with TCU, Utah, and BYU, they'd make a pretty strong top tier for a 10 team non-BCS conference.
  19. holy moly, he made the 57 yarder to give Nebraska the lead. Colorado needs a field goal with 1:30 and a timeout.
  20. hahaha, earlier Nebraska tried the LSU behind the head fake field goal and got picked off for a TD, that's awesome
  21. There's a few that show up from time to time. Losing to Colorado at home with 12 minutes to play, ORDER RESTORED
  22. Odds are OU jumps Texas if they all win this week. If they all win this week, it's either going to be Texas or OU in the title game. Either OU will beat Mizzou and coast in to the title game, or Mizzou beats them and Texas sneaks in. What could throw a wrench into things is if OSU beats OU and Tech wins the South. Public perception is really against Texas Tech, but what if they find themselves in the B12 title game and win? The only team you could put in front of them would be Texas, a team they beat for the South and beat head-to-head. I guess USC is a factor at that point too, although I wonder if they'd get the nod without winning their conference.
