  1. Castro taking ground balls before the Rising Stars game
  2. At this point I'm afraid we'll need 7 wins to make a bowl, and I'm not positive we'll get six. I think they'll be alright. Saturday sucked, but I have confidence they'll straighten it out for this week.
  3. I really think I'd be okay with losing to Iowa State at home by several touchdowns if we could take KSU behind the woodshed. Their ascent to the top of the North without beating a single team in the top half of the conference is irritating. Plus Bill Snyder is right up there with Pelini of the coaches I hate most in the conference. Oh sweet, one of them gets to win the North now because we got 40 hung on us by Baylor. I'm going to stop depressing myself now.
  4. Feel better now? It certainly softens the blow.
  5. Yahoo, that wasn't cool telling me that Chris Johnson had an 81 yard TD run then taking it back.
  6. Cameron has been a 4 WAR player 3 of the last 4 years. Bradley had a 1 WAR last year. Even with Cameron significantly regressing and the positional adjustment it's a big benefit. Plus Fukudome's defense plays way up in RF.
  7. Let's not be ridiculous here. Cameron's older and therefore not a super long term solution, but he unequivocally makes the team better.
  8. Seconded, it's really fascinating how unorganized and crazy Major League Baseball was back then.
  9. I didn't recognize any of those guys off hand, than I realized, "hey, most of those guys is white. That must be Duke". Then I scrolled down and saw I was right.
  10. Yes, trade for lots of third basemen Dayton Moore. You don't need Gordon, trade him away.
  11. I'm sure the Sox would just be thrilled if Hermida decided to crack a .750 OPS. Shouldn't be that tough now that he's free of Land Shark.
  12. The Red Sox are a really smart franchise.
  13. Nomar never really hit for any power until he was a 22 year old in AAA, and then from then on in MLB.
  14. There's no problem in getting a guy who's going to be a 1-2 win guy for at or below market value, it's not like Iwamura is hindering the progression of some long term asset anyway. You can't funnel every penny into the draft and scouting because then you never sell any tickets and have less revenue than if you had spent it on somebody. Plus Iwamura stands a decent chance of fetching them a draft pick after the season anyways, or maybe a better return at the deadline if he's having a strong season.
  15. Yeah, I remember a few years ago we had a pitcher whose upside was Clemens and downside was Mussina. And that guy suuuuucked at pitching.
  16. I have a hard time seeing any difference between Crisp and Fuld.
  17. Crisp's ineffectiveness has a lot more to do with him being hurt than coinciding with drug testing.
  18. Hawkins is probably gone. They were chanting fire Hawkins at the end of the first half at the game this weekend(side note: Folsom Field is pretty cool). The only way he's not is if the University can't afford to pay his buyout and a new coach's salary. Scott has been a mess since he got there. He's been hurt, ineffective, a bit of a problem-child with work ethic, etc. I wonder if his injury sapped him of a little bit of explosiveness, since he needs every bit as a small back. Maybe he just wasn't that good to begin with.
  19. I imagine a recruiting visit from Frank Martin involves promises of broken kneecaps if he doesn't come, lots of talk about "family" atmosphere, etc. Either that or he hulks out and smashes furniture in the recruit's home to impress them.
  20. So how good are our chances? Who else is considered a finalist for him? Any idea when he's planning on deciding? I really like our class so far, and adding a 5-star F to it would make it pretty amazing, imo. http://www.rockmnation.com/2009/11/2/1110888/a-breakthrough-class
  21. Mizzou is a finalist for 5-star forward Tony Mitchell from Texas. Adding Mitchell would give Anderson a couple Top-50 recruits for next year, a huge plus with Tiller, Taylor, and Ramsey departing. Anderson's rep as a recruiter has already taken a step forward the last year or so, but combining two elite guys with the team's success might be what's needed to start getting talent needed to make Mizzou a year in, year out Big 12 contender.
  22. LSU is NINE in the BCS? Color me annoyed someone's going to get credit for winning this game. Mizzou's march from basement to defense of the most mediocre division in college football, somehow even worse than the ACC Atlantic, continues with a game against Baylor without Hot Tub Griffin. Mizzou should win big, and hopefully Kansas can play defense for however many quarters it takes to show that KSU is still a joke.
  23. So you want to trade one mental case for another? Well, in a different world I wouldn't trade Bradley, but that ship has sailed. But if it brings us Alex Gordon I'd take however many crazies was necessary.
