Duncan teaches people to throw a sinking 2 seamer, and Penny has always been a guy who uses 4 seam heat to blow people away. It would be a completely different approach to pitching for him.

You mean Frank Martin, who has led them to 3rd in the Big 12 in 07-08, and 4th last year? You mean Frank Martin who has a 50-25 (.666) career record as a head coach? Yeah, he's horrible. Also, Ole Miss is getting 27 votes in the coaches poll and is #25 in the AP. KSU has beaten Dayton and Wazzu, plays Xavier tonight and UNLV on Saturday. Hell, Louisville lost to Charlotte this year. What's your point on Ole Miss? You say 4th last year, others say 7th.

Is Oregon middle of the pack? They're terrible. They were last year, but they brought about everyone back and were picked to be middle of the pack in the preseason, which was most of what I was going off of for that statement.

Likewise, what do the Cardinals have left in the minors after pulling off the Holliday trade that would interest the Nationals? Not much, I think BA said recently they ranked the Cardinals system 29th. Even then, Dunn and his horrific defense in LF would be a decided downgrade from Holliday or even Bay.

Meche's regression and shoulder trouble worry me, plus the KC Star said today they'd have to be "overwhelmed" to deal him. If we're going the high priced starter route, I'd much rather have Millwood in return for Bradley.

How is Guillen that much different than Burrell? Pat Burrell has been a damn good hitter for most of his career with a couple bad seasons, Guillen has been a horrible hitter most of his career witha couple good seasons. And what either of them are any more is a platoon power outfielder who are aging quickly. Burrell has a better hitting pedigree, but Guillen is not a comically bad defender. In a perfect world I prefer Burrell, but if it means the difference in adding someone like Cruz as well as Guillen, I take that over Burrell every time. Guillen is a little older and apparently aging faster, and not a good defender either. He's coming off 3 of 4 really weak seasons, whereas Burrell has been a beast in 3 of 4 seasons. Aside from a bad 2009, there really isn't much of a comparison. A quick look at CHONE and James' projections seems to think that there's not a ton of difference between them going forward when you include defense. Even without defense, it's not a wide enough gulf to make Burrell the more attractive player if you can get another valuable part like Cruz.

Another thing I forgot about. The clock doesn't stop when the ball hits the ground, it stops when the whistle blows, and there is always a delay. That game should have been over. -
Mizzou completely dismantled Oregon, leading by as much as 30 in the first half and winning 106-69. Great to get a win over a BCS school after the two losses, even if it's a middle of the pack Oregon in a really down Pac-10.

I've seen plenty of late game situations where extra seconds tick away, including the final second. And I have never seen that reviewed once. -
It's more like this: If someone punches you in the face, you have the right to be angry with them about that. If they fix your broken nose, you look pretty silly if you get angry with them for fixing it instead of just leaving you lying on the ground. This is a very good move. I was hoping to move Fox for a bullpen arm, and while I might have set my sights higher than Gray, to get rid of most of Miles' money(not to mention Miles himself), and get a couple prospects in a addition to that arm is a nice deal.

Looking at WAR, Cameron has been a touch better than Granderson each of the last 4 years, excepting 2007 when Granderson was awesome and Cameron was merely good(thanks to a fluky bad UZR). Please sign him.

He's just trying to ensure a just result. Mizzou won 2 more games than ISU, beat them head to head, have better TV potential/star power, have a better recent history, and all evidence points to them bringing better numbers to the game than ISU. There's no logical reason for the Insight to pick Iowa State. -
There's 4 teams in Group D that could advance, so I could easily see Germany not winning the group, even though they'll be a big favorite to advance.

In the minors there were rumors that Fox didn't take very well to coaching, but it appears he's gotten past that with his offensive resurgence. Plus that's not really relevant to clubhouse relationships and the like.
