  1. Was the broadcast team right that Uruguay got whistled for offsides when Mexico's keeper punched the ball into his own net? Because if so that was wrong by an insane amount and it should be tied.
  2. okay Miggy let's play scoreboard pong and go home
  3. The rarely seen mole HR, where a ball is beaten so far into the ground that it, through the wonders of science, bounces off the core of the earth and surfaces again 450 feet away. If this is a Backyard Baseball reference, I love you. What I'm saying is, Pablo Sanchez could definitely hit Ziegler.
  4. Probably a ground ball inside-the-park home run. The rarely seen mole HR, where a ball is beaten so far into the ground that it, through the wonders of science, bounces off the core of the earth and surfaces again 450 feet away.
  5. just kidding, but it's actually 2 for 6 with a HR
  6. The odds of the result of Brad Ziegler vs. Jason Heyward being a ground ball are infinity to one. Heyward is 4 for 5 against Ziegler with a home run.
  7. I wonder if Alcantara has a chance at cracking a playoff roster as the new Quintin Berry. 20 for 20 on SB now, 37 of 43 the last 2 years. Also the back end of the Iowa pen stayed strong. Rivero 1 IP 1 H 2 K; Edwards .2 IP 0 H; Pena 1.1 IP 0 H 2 K
  8. Baez's IsoP now .159, for those concerned about such things
  9. Arrieta has lowered his FIP from 2.72 to 2.50 in 4 innings.
  10. [tweet] [/tweet]
  11. They're also facing a worse LHP tomorrow in a game where Ross is guaranteed to start, so if you plan on resting all the LHs, it makes sense to do Rizzo and Heyward today and Montero and maybe one of the switch hitters tomorrow.
  12. Corbin has some pretty extreme splits for a starter. This year right handed hitters have an .849 OPS, 12% K rate, and 10 HR in 223 PA against him, lefties have a .669 OPS, 34% K rate, and 1 HR in 58 PA.
  13. The Cubs probably are less interested in the average team in Vizcaino, having seen him up close as long as they did. And the Braves might prefer to Soler to Baez since they have Swanson and Albies coming in the middle infield. Otherwise I don't think that's terribly off base.
  14. The Cubs have won 107 of their last 162 regular season games.
  15. I think there's more hope that their current options can help with things like low OBP(Abreu is 45 points below his career mark, for example) than there was that their current options in the back of the rotation were going to hold up for ~45 more starts.
  16. Hasn't happened at all this year. If you take that to the 1st 3 games of a series, it happened vs. the Nationals. Hm, looks like I was remembering series wins instead of sweeps.
  17. The Cardinals are averaging 3.5 runs per game against the Cubs, and 5.6 runs per game against everyone else. The Pirates are averaging 2.2 runs per game against the Cubs, and 5.3 runs per game against everyone else.
  18. I guess 'grown up Bobby Hill' was too long for a jersey.
