  2. Zastryzny had no K's and walked 5 in 5 innings, yet somehow only gave up 3 runs in Colorado Springs. That is borderline miraculous. In happier Iowa pitching news, Spencer Patton had his K/BB ratio cross 5 today, 41/9 in 24 IP.
  3. I am all in on Doolittle over Miller. Even if he doesn't get back to peak form he's death to LH hitters, and with that hope that he can regain closer-level dominance and a favorable contract(plus enough injury history to keep the return from being too exorbitant), he's a great target as long as they don't see him as an extreme health risk.
  4. He's got a lot of problems right now. On April 26th he had his best outing of the season, 2 perfect innings with 3 K. Since then: 15.2 IP, 15 H, 8 K, 11 BB, 4 HR. In May his control deserted him and he had some bad outings punctuated by home runs. In June he's stopped missing bats too, 1 K in his last 32 batters faced.
  5. I can't agree that Warren has been good, and I wouldn't argue if someone pointed to Cahill and Wood's peripherals, but in spirit I'm with you. The Cubs have one of the best relievers in the game at closer and a very good setup man. Neither Cahill, Wood, nor Warren has been as good as they were last year so the middle innings aren't quite as rock solid, but it's still quite good. By giving up 3 runs in 4+ IP today, they upped their ERA for the month to 3.66, 11th in MLB/5th in the NL.
  6. another run on 1 hit, it's becoming suspicious at this point
  7. lol Argue called strike 3 in one at bat, gesture wildly on a called strike 3 the next at bat, get incredulous that you got tossed good stuff
  8. the between pitch music irritates me a lot more than it should
  9. 150% of the Nationals runs in this series have come on innings that have 1 hit
  10. thanks for waiting until after giving up the lead to bring in Kelley, definitely wouldn't have wanted the guy with cartoonishly good numbers and no platoon split facing Bryant and Rizzo instead of the ghost of Matt Belisle and Oliver Perez.
  11. This is why Dusty used Solis for 2 innings, so he could mix and match middle relievers in the 9th inning of a 1 run game delightful
  12. lol Zimmerman was half way to second when he caught that
  13. *Stephen Strasburg strikes out 4-5-6 in the order in order* "got dang it Montero can't you do anything right"
  14. I read that and thought it was a random message board post until I clicked the link and saw it was Carpenter. Someone tell him that logic also applies(exactly, they're also 9.5 out) to the last place Reds catching them.
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] Congrats on your double Albert, have fun facing Strasburg
  16. Ah, Iowa is in Colorado Springs, time for all the hitters to get healthy. Even with that in mind, Zagunis starting his Iowa account 8 for 21 with 2 2B, a 3B, and 4 BB is fun.
  17. I don't think it got enough play in the home series, but watching a bunch of close games being managed by Maddon v. Baker I'm almost embarrassed for Dusty. Like if you took the quote about playing chess while the other guy plays checkers and turned it into a baseball game, it'd look like Cubs v. Nationals, 2016.
  18. also shout out to Dusty Baker for going to Solis for 2 innings for no discernible reason
