  1. just zero interest in swinging the bat from the entire Pirates team
  2. Hurdle went out to argue that Rizzo swung at the pitch. I think he was trying to somehow argue that Rizzo was on top of the plate and that the pitch was a borderline strike.
  3. I honestly think Bryant is probably the only one capable of getting the loft. That would be a HIGH home run. Think about how lofted his shot off the board was last year, and it was what, 20 feet low?
  4. If the idea is to minimize poor framing, you probably want a guy who gets the most swinging strikes as it is, or maybe the guy who allows the least amount of total contact. Or maybe the guy who gets the most swings out of the zone, or maybe the guy who throws the most pitches in the zone. Thankfully among Cubs starters one guy is all of those things at once. John Lackey.
  5. [tweet] [/tweet]
  6. I'd guess they'll have Contreras catch one starter consistently, and as long as he doesn't humiliate himself he'll get starts against LHP on non-Lester/Ross days. So something like 50/30/20 between Montero/Contreras/Ross
  7. I'm honestly not sure he ever made contact with the guy's face.
  8. Oh I had completely forgotten until Stone alluded to it just now, there's no extra time until the final, so if Ecuador had gotten an equalizer it would have gone straight to PKs.
  9. Man it sucks so much that Wood is suspended considering both his yellows were terrible calls.
  10. What nonsense was that Besler, that's CONCACAF loser stuff
  11. "Finally, Beckerman is in", I thought for the first time in my life.
  12. Yes, both are suspended for the semis. If Johnson, Bradley, Bedoya, or Brooks get a yellow they will join them.
  13. That tweet is from 4 days ago, Wood is suspended for the semis.
  14. what are you doing to me Michael Bradley
  15. Yeah I was dreading this when they said he was doing it, and maybe this is partially because I'm a soccer dummy so others might find him obvious, but I'm enjoying him.
  16. Silly pricing ($100+ face to get in the stadium) + less than a week's notice + weeknight
  17. So it's Besler at left back and Fab to right back, otherwise no lineup changes. I think I like that better than Orozco at RB.
  18. I'd assume that Montero is going to be starting more like 2-3 games out of 5, at least until Contreras can prove he's not going to flop offensively or defensively. He's already back, no? He is, but is he out of options? Yes, Szczur is out of options.
  19. Yes, the winners of Mexico/Chile and Colombia/Peru play in Chicago.
  20. It looks like he was onside for the cross and the deflection went off a Welsh head? I'm only just seeing the highlight now.
  21. I think he'd want Torres. Doolittle is very good, cheap, and has 4 years of control. There's plenty of teams in need and its extremely early to make a deal. So my guess is it'd take giving him a SS to help make up for losing Addy, to get him now. And likely a Zagunis or Vogelbach to go with him. I know that sounds high, but he's not going to come cheap at all. I think that'll be a tough sell, I have a hard time seeing anyone being willing to give up that type of upside. What would make more sense to me, given the player and Beane's history, is more quantity of a slightly lesser player. So instead of 2-3 guys in the McKinney/Candelario/Zagunis/Underwood/Johnson/Caratini range, it'd take 3-4 to move quickly to nab him.
