  1. This is my first real look at Bobby Wood. Is his first touch normally Zardes-bad?
  2. Diaz is like bizarro Ahmed, killing everyone except the Cubs
  3. I have complained about Jake's BABIP luck, so I have to admit that all 3 of Zobrists hits have been at least somewhat fortunate.
  4. To be fair, without the error he has a scoreless inning with 1 baserunner.
  5. I mean seriously, is there a jet stream in right center? Neither of those home runs should have traveled 400 feet
  6. For those who can't watch, the Molina HBP [tweet] [/tweet]
  7. why even have Bucknor behind the plate if he's not going to make himself the center of attention and call Molina out for that
  8. It's getting a bit absurd now. It's one thing to give up bloop base hits, it's another to be giving up such weak contact that you can't get the lead runner or even the hitter several times in 5 innings.
  9. Wong swung 3-0 and popped up, the injury delay was Russell having an issue with his contacts.
  10. Jake getting BABIP'd for a few runs was bound to happen eventually, yes. Nothing wrong with his stuff today.
  11. how many balls have been hit hard today, 3? all bloops and groundballs except for the two XBH
  12. Zobrist was hitting .410/.500/.667/1.167 in May before his two hits today.
  13. - cheaper to acquire - less expensive contract - longer team control - better injury history and extreme distrust that Fernandez's will make him worth the cost - currently performing at a higher level - belief that Teheran can be better/more sustainably good than he is even now
  14. This is even more off topic and almost certainly a hot take, but I'd rather trade for Teheran than Fernandez.
  15. You mean like this? http://nypost.com/2016/05/24/silent-matt-harvey-confirms-hes-the-phony-mets-have-enabled/ Holy hottest of hot takes. That headline alone just blasted my face like I was looking at the Arc. I knew it was coming and I still laughed out loud at the headline. Amazing.
  16. I have a theory that the front office cares very very little about having a good LOOGY. I doubt it. Maybe not a LOOGY but you need at least a decent LHP out of the pen. I think they think they can find one at the deadline. And I think it's gonna be Andrew Miller unless the Yankees keep winning. It is only a theory, but the Cubs haven't really prioritized LH relievers. They gave away Wesley Wright after a good season, they waited til the middle of Spring Training to get Phil Coke and gave him the job, and cycled through more retreads(Russell then Richard) when he bombed. I think they want a guy who is left handed in the pen so that they can take advantage of the *hitter's* inability to hit LHP rather than the LHP's inherent awesomeness at getting same handed hitters out. When that reliever can serve a dual purpose like a long man(see Wood and Richard) that's even better. That's not to say they'll actively avoid LHP, but the current 'gap' in LHRP is one that has been there since they non-tendered Wright. I don't think they care much that it continues as long as they have RHRP that are hard on them, like Grimm, Strop, and Rondon.
  17. I have a theory that the front office cares very very little about having a good LOOGY.
  18. I'm oddly reassured to see him botch that play, makes his offensive improvement seem more real and not like some video game dream.
