I have a theory that the front office cares very very little about having a good LOOGY. I doubt it. Maybe not a LOOGY but you need at least a decent LHP out of the pen. I think they think they can find one at the deadline. And I think it's gonna be Andrew Miller unless the Yankees keep winning. It is only a theory, but the Cubs haven't really prioritized LH relievers. They gave away Wesley Wright after a good season, they waited til the middle of Spring Training to get Phil Coke and gave him the job, and cycled through more retreads(Russell then Richard) when he bombed. I think they want a guy who is left handed in the pen so that they can take advantage of the *hitter's* inability to hit LHP rather than the LHP's inherent awesomeness at getting same handed hitters out. When that reliever can serve a dual purpose like a long man(see Wood and Richard) that's even better. That's not to say they'll actively avoid LHP, but the current 'gap' in LHRP is one that has been there since they non-tendered Wright. I don't think they care much that it continues as long as they have RHRP that are hard on them, like Grimm, Strop, and Rondon.
