Against RHP Heyward and Schwarber are going to be in the lineup already, Blanco is a hedge against Almora(probable), Baez(possible to probable), or Soler(possible if he's still around) not being very good against RHP. He also gives you a hedge against Heyward not being as good as hoped in CF or Almora proving not to be worthy of MLB at bats at all. -
Did Baez slip? I thought he'd be 2 steps further.

a lifetime of instinct the play and runner were in front of him he could see gonzalez wasn't even a third of the way down the line when he picked up the ball. you're taught to go with the ball, once he played it off that hop the instinct is to go to 2nd instead of taking several steps to re-orient to go to 1st. It wasn't the right decision, but it shouldn't be a super surprising mistake. After all Zobrist was in RF and Baez had to slow the throw to wait for him and Seager might have still been out.

to walk Seager? To bring in Edwards. Cahill getting a ground ball (or any kind of non-run-scoring out) is much more likely than Edwards not walking somebody in this spot, IMO. lol you are so convinced that Edwards is a walk-monster

"Extend" depends on the situation. Lester was cruising pretty well, the only threatening hitter due up is LH, and Lester going another inning keeps bullpen arms from getting used too much. Sure you can always use the bottom of the pen guys, especially in September, but in a 0-0 game you're still playing to win, that's what all the players sign up for. I'm probably being overly cautious, but I am more focused on October. So if a guy is at 100 and it's tied in August, oh well if we lose. I say we at least try to increase our playoff chances by 0.5 percent by using the advantage of a big lead to rest regulars and not push anyone past 100. I'm with you in this case, but if they had sent him out for the 7th I wouldn't have been furious. Especially since they would've likely pulled him at the first sign of trouble.

This is his primary job. Stories are fine, but long and rambling tales to nowhere are just bad. Scully has a classic voice but in this millennium he's been way past his prime, he would've been better off confined to radio or given a partner.
