  1. Nacho guy just got that last Piscotty foul ball and gave it to a kid, what a pal
  2. FSNMW is interviewing nacho guy, with the chyron "lost his nachos" below his name edit: And now their lingering camera shot catches Crull coming down to get him too
  3. if Grichuk can't even homer against the Cubs then he's gonna be selling insurance by next summer
  4. someone tell Pham that Zobrist won't be able to ask him any questions if he keeps grounding out to 2nd like that
  5. stop forcing me to be on pham's side If you can't laugh at Pham being unable to avoid come at me bro theatrics with teenagers while shagging BP, then that's on you
  6. that's weird, because Pham is normally so sociable on the field
  7. Koji has reverse splits. Monty, Duensing, Wilson should be enough given how much rest is built into the playoffs. I was thinking you wouldn't want to burn any of those 3 in a 1 off at-bat though. I also just checked the splits, and you are indeed correct. Duensing could be used as a pure LOOGY in a short series pretty easily. Murphy hits in the heart of the order too so Wilson/Monty could be lined up for a full inning that overlaps them both.
  8. Rondon, Wilson, La Stella, and Rivera make 25 unless you're not including someone from my locks. I'm reading it as you having Martin over LaStella in what you posted. Right, that's my guess, his post is saying Wilson, Rondon, La Stella, Rivera, AND Martin/Lackey if I'm reading it right.

  10. re: La Stella, only 34 of those PA against LHP have come in the last 2 years, and while he's actually been even better(.912 OPS), the sample leads me to believe they aren't going to trust him against playoff caliber relievers. Which is fine, there isn't going to be a shortage of LH pinch hitters that you'd *need* TLS, and if you add Rivera you're also making it easier to PH with Avila too.
  11. Not at all! Last year the Cubs carried 11 and 12 pitchers in the NL series, so let's start there: Locks: Arrieta, Hendricks, Lester, Q Davis Strop Edwards Duensing Montgomery That's 9, with the other options being: Wilson, Rondon, Koji, Lackey, and Grimm On the hitter side, the locks are: Contreras, Avila Rizzo, Baez, Russell, Bryant, Zobrist Schwarber, Jay, Almora, Happ, Heyward That's 12, with the other options being: Rivera, La Stella, Martin The Nationals are only going to throw one LHSP in Gio Gonzalez, and they have Doolittle and one/both of Solis and Perez from the left side in the pen. If I had to guess, I'd say that unless Lester falls on his face this week, that Wilson and Rondon are the other pitchers, and that Martin and Rivera are the other hitters.
  12. I don't think it's necessary, they can give the 9th to Grimm and have Edwards warm up if they give up runs. If they do I don't think it'll matter too much though, he's on autopilot plus his next and final regular season start will be post-clinch so it can be whatever length they want.
  13. I'm so glad we went out and got next-gen Jon Lester right as the current model started to slow down
  14. I do think there's something to this, everyone pick a player to incredulously hate on the rest of the year. I call Rizzo, that 'can't hit 40 HR in a season to save his life' fraud of a franchise player
  15. He's had a rough week or so. The week or so before that he was 12 for 28 with 7 walks. He has a loud single in today's game in 2 trips. He's fine. Yeah, his .230 .329 .295 .624 line in September is just peachy keen. Play La Stella or Happ at 2B if Baez on the bench; Zobrist serves no purpose except to age slightly closer to inevitable death. Yes, monthly splits are going to look bad when you have a rough 10 day stretch. Zobrist works counts as well as anyone on the team(something that is underappreciated this year relative to past seasons) and the alternatives all have flaws/worries too. It's an imperfect puzzle of like 8 guys for 4 spots, you're going to be making different tradeoffs no matter what you choose. Also, not even Baez would have gotten Broxton at 1B on that play last inning.

  17. Bryant would have been out by so much it would've been a rundown going back to 3rd.
  18. [tweet] [/tweet] To get ahead of the obvious, Anderson has reverse splits this year.
  19. Nah. Our magic number is 5. The Cards have 2 games left against Cole and Taillon and then 3 against a Brewers team they may be jostling for a Wild Card spot. We still have three against the terrible Reds to finish the season. If we win 1 game against St. Louis, the season is effectively over. Even if we get swept, it's like a 50/50 chance. And we aren't getting swept. We're 4.5 up with 8 games left. We'd practically have to lose every game the rest of the year to blow this. To put a finer point on this, there are 17 outcomes left for the Cubs (8 games) and Cards (9 games), we need 5 of them to go our way. Even if you concede the series between them as a sweep for some reason, you only need 5 of 9 with the Cubs hosting the Reds 3 times and the Cardinals facing Cole, Taillon, and the Brewers. The division is done.
