  1. Derek Law, could've sworn he'd been put out to pasture.
  2. It is extremely funny that Steve Cohen thought he had cracked the code of roster building and after one good season and doubling down it took 3 months to realize he not only needed to sell at the deadline by eating a truckload of money but also give up on 2024.
  3. Of the LHRP with 2024 options that might be available, Raley might be my least favored, opposed to Bummer, Chafin, or Hand(who is gone now), but that still seems like a perfectly cromulent pickup.
  4. Arb eligible and was good in 100 MLB innings last year
  5. Why would the Diamondbacks be trading away relievers?
  6. Agreed, not winning is a big missed opportunity given there's not many head to head chances anymore, but the overall playoff outlook doesn't hinge on winning specific games at this point.
  7. Don't immediately get why you'd pay IFA money to swap between similar profiles in Rodriguez and Roberson, especially with Roberson having much worse command. But they clearly think they have a plan to level up these RP so we'll have to see if they're right. Roberson will have 3 option years once added to the 40 man while Rodriguez was down to one, so I suppose that plays into it too.
  8. Yeah that's the hardest thing, we'll never know if the other org is high or low on one guy or another so even if the value is appropriate it might not be the winner. In that vein though, scanning the list of 1B production by team I don't see anyone that would likely be desperate to add Alonso, so his market may not be as robust especially with their not being any rental bargain to be found. But it only takes one and the Mets don't seem desperate to move him.
  9. I kinda wonder how close something like Wicks + Caissie gets you. That lacks premium upside but not to the point that they're bench/AAAA options, and you're getting AA+ in both to hedge against that.
  10. If Verlander were still at his post-Tigers level this would be an interesting exercise of whether they'd find it worth it to jump into the LT to be opportunistic on top end talent. As it is, Verlander is 40, missed time to injury, has lost half a tick in velo, and isn't striking people out at an elite rate anymore. Still a good pitcher but on the Stroman/Montgomery tier and not worth the roster rearranging and cost it would require.
  11. Good results elsewhere so far tonight. Phillies beat the Marlins and the Brewers lose to the Nats.
  12. Between the camera angle and the crowd reaction I thought Boog was understating how big a HR it was and then it should've been an out
  13. 109 off the bat and .680 xBA, Seiya really can't buy a break half the time
  14. If I were Marcus Stroman I would simply stop giving up rockets all over the field
  15. Yeah I don't immediately see much appeal in Cuas compared to what's already in the org.
  16. Don't forget that Happ and Hoerner's extensions start next year, so their combined LT number goes up about 20 million. Add in a couple arb eligibles and minimum salaries and it's more like 70 million sans Stroman.
