  1. Real "*record scratch* so you're probably wondering how I ended up here" vibes from Acuna on that ball
  2. White Sox with 3 in the first on Arizona Reds trail Cleveland by 2 in the 5th Marlins/Mets rain delay
  3. headfirst slide by Seiya might've beaten that throw
  4. I didn't see anything in particular, and thinking on it I doubt it's a singular thing. Outside of the matchups bit that you mentioned, maybe he's battling some fatigue, maybe they want Taillon and Stroman to stay on consistent schedules, maybe it's a hedge that if Steele has to pitch Sunday that Hendricks can still start WC game 1(since he only has 1 start either way as you said)
  5. McMahon chopped a ball to first that seemed to end the game, but the umpires convened and ruled it a foul ball. Replay showed it barely grazed his foot on the bounce.
  6. They'll also face both Senga and Keller (and probably Oviedo).
  7. Adding on to the Canario->Tauchman->PCA decision, is Mastrobuoni that much better a defender than Wisdom that it was worth it to set up an almost certain LHRP facing him and PCA?
  8. Absolutely not, even on zero pitches his command is a tossup and he'd likely face PH + top of the order. Leiter/Cuas/Smyly/Merryweather should all be available, gotta trust 2 of those to get 6 outs (plus the chance of more offense)
  9. Starting Canario to pinch hit with Tauchman and then pinch run with PCA in the 6th feels like being a bit too fine
  10. No, baserunning isn't counted in OPS+ or wRC+ (the most common '100 = average' metrics you'll see quoted. Fangraphs' 'Off' counting value does include baserunning, and Hoerner is 62nd of 135 qualified hitters.
  11. Pittsburgh dangling some hope, cut it to 9-6 on the Reds after 6
  12. one weird trick to score runs when you can't see the ball
  13. Shadows seem tough today, wouldn't be surprised if neither team does much the rest of the way
  14. extremely dumb throw decision by Hayes there, yeesh
  15. Brewers put up a 12 spot on the Marlins in the 2nd
  16. we will rise from the ashes like a phoenix, on the wings of Friday Cubs
  17. Smyly in appearances of less than 2 IP this year: 10.2 IP, 2 R, 17/6 K/BB, 1 HR
  18. Taillon has a 3.57 ERA in his last 14 starts. 80.2 IP too so nearly 6 IP per.
  19. The Cubs having the 2nd most 20 HR hitters of any team(and Happ sitting on 19!) is extremely funny to me
