  1. I'll watch the rerun when Melania Trump speaks.
  2. That's a lot to give up for a rental of a reliever. But those are probably the most expendable "solid" pieces that the Cubs have. Torres, decent talent, not elite talent, but very good production. May not be able to stay at SS, which is fine considering he'd never play there with the Cubs. McKinney, decent talent, again not elite. Good production, is down this year. Inability to play CF. Heyward and Schwarber on the corners. Warren, decent talent, good production, also down this year. Passed by Matusz as the 6th starter, Cahill also getting stretched out, potential for a trade for a controllable starter with options puts him as possibly the 9th option to start, way down on the RP depth chart. It's too much, but not crippling by any means. What this means for the pursuit of a SP and/or OF scares me though. This may be the team the Cubs go into the postseason with for the most part.
  3. If it had to be Soler, Torres, and Happ for Archer and Colome as principals, I'd be okay with that even if it meant sending some money for Soler. I'd try to swap Almora in for Happ if I could, but I would not consider those 3 to be a prohibitive price when the return is an elite reliever and a likely TOR starter both under control for 3-5 years. I'd try hard to not add Happ . But yeah, that's a very fair price, and honestly an ideal scenario for the Cubs to get a controllable starter and a good reliever without having to give up Schwarber, Contreras or Baez.
  4. Trying to drive Lucroy's trade value up by letting him throw out everyone.
  5. Stop running with Zobrist........even though he was under the tag.
  6. Hey, welcome back to the 2016 season, Ben.
  7. That was probably the loudest I've cheered for a Cubs play all year.
  8. Well then. Maybe that inning signals the Cubs are now going to become the Brewers and the Brewers are now the Cubs of the last 2 days.
  9. My team was terrible last year. I finished 2nd to last and pick 2nd in my draft this year. The only 2 options for keepers are as followed: WR- Sammy Watkins- lose my 4th round pick WR- Tavon Austin- lose my last round (16th) pick FYI, PPR league. 12 teams. The 2 teams surrounding me already announced their keepers and will forgo 4th round picks. So, Watkins would mean 3 picks in a row kept, not keeping him would give me 2 out of 3 picks at the 4th/5th round turn.
  10. 2-0, with this offense and a SP with control issues all game, you play this like it's a tie game late. Not the time for mop-up relievers.
  11. He is who we think he is (a mediocre pitcher) and we keep letting him off the hook.
  12. Uh, Richard....who was also stretched out during his rehab.
  13. Do they do hugs in the dugout for a guy getting DFA'd?
  14. This is the only respectable opinion stated.

    Jay Bruce?

It's like they're trying to replace Kyle Schwarber 4 months later. I don't get it now that Contreras has come up and been a mainstay in the lineup and played a solid LF when not catching (which is most of the time at this point). Maybe the goal is to get Contreras behind the plate more permanently, but still at that point you're not leaving many ABs for LaStella (who's pretty good against RHPs) or Baez (who is dominant against LHPs). And that doesn't even get into Soler, who would probably have to be traded to even get the roster to the confusion I mentioned above. Not to mention the fact that Bruce/Reddick isn't enough of an upgrade for 2 months to justify getting rid of 4+ years of Soler, unless you're getting a hell of a pitcher in return.
