  1. No McGwire seems odd. I'd probably get Reggie Jackson in there somewhere, because I love big lefties that get that majestic height on fly balls. Reggie McGwire Sosa Bonds Mantle Gibson Griffey Killebrew
  2. Ha, I just did that too. If Billy Hamilton wasn't so damn fast, it would look even uglier.
  3. 11-28, .393/.469/.571 since moving down to 6th in the order 12-35, .343/.425/.486 since the start of July And he just struck out for the 2nd time this month today. He's a career .287/.373/.447 hitter in the 2nd half, including a .308/.387/.458 line the last 3 years post ASB, with August typically being by far his best month.
  4. The difference between 7.5 game lead and 5.5 feels huge to me. That's what she said.
  5. Champagne in the lockerroom, I assume?
  6. Heyward has looked great since moving down to 6th spot. 0-5 today, but 10-23 coming in in the 6th spot and he's been robbed quite a few times. Edit: and earlier today was the only time he failed to put the ball in play since moving down in the order.
  7. After that 2 HR game, he hit a HR against the White Sox the very next night. No idea what to make of that. Really? Damn. He had 2 HRs going into the Cubs game this season and only 3 all of last year.
  8. 4 times been unable to score from 1st on a double. ugh To be fair, a couple have been to the short RF wall
  9. I understand the bullpen has been used a lot. But he had 99 pitches going into this inning.
  10. 4 times been unable to score from 1st on a double.
  11. wait. why would "controlling his stuff" require insane athleticism? http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/images/photos/003/578/834/3ca47f3ee8ff5089c910b30e77ff4bd8_crop_exact.jpg?w=1500&h=1500&q=85 Spoiler that ugly MF.
  12. Too short. He should be put in the short RF though in Pittsburgh. He's really terrible reading the ball off the bat.
  13. It lasted 5 total pitches, and the Cubs had 1 out and a man at 3rd when they tied it.
  14. This is about the longest unlucky stretch I've seen. Cubs routinely getting fewer runs than expected in run scoring situations. Pirates consistently getting more.
  15. 4 runs and the only ball even hit well was by a guy hitting the ball in the majors for the 1st time.
  16. If the ump could make strike calls for a guy that was in the zone all night and the Cubs could turn a DP, they'd still be winning.
  17. Just terrible baseball right now. All the way around.
  18. Couldn't be more off base.
  19. Still think they'd go Lackey, but Hendricks is definitely ahead of Hammel.
  20. Catch-22. If 2nd half Hammel shows up for much longer, he won't be appearing in the playoffs.
  21. Wow. Markakis has like the least amount of power in baseball.
