  1. I think we (Bears fans) are underestimating Allen Robinson. Obviously, he missed all of last year. But he also had a down year the year before (it's Bortles' fault). But he did put up top 5 WR numbers at age 22, and is still only 25. He could be everything Brandon Marshall was when he was a Bear, except much younger and not a lockerroom nightmare. This offense is made to create mismatches. Once they get their horsefeathers together, there will 100% of the time be a mismatch with either Burton or Cohen. Then you still have Gabriel who can outrun anybody. Miller who's an elite route runner with great hands. And when all else fails, Robinson can win any 1-on-1 matchup.
  2. They are going to have to hope the combo of Zobrist and Murphy at the top of the order get on base and then have Rizzo dong. They also need to activate KB tomorrow and just put him in the lineup. Maddon- "Murphy was hitting 7th in Washington. Obviously he's comfortable there." But for real though, Heyward's not moving from 2. One of them will leadoff the other 6th or some horsefeathers.
  3. A little help please? I'm in a 12-team PPR keeper league (keep 1 player, lose the round's pick in which that player was picked the next). So, I finished last last year, so I have the #1 pick this year (David Johnson injury, picked TY Hilton over Hopkins in the 2nd)......but my keeper is Alvin Kamara (15th round). So, being that I have Kamara, what should my draft strategy be with the #1 pick. My first thought is to go Antonio Brown. Been in the top 5 of non-QBs in PPR points every year since 2014. But do I consider going RB and having potentially a pair of top 6 guys at the position? If so, do I go Bell (3 of 4 years in top 5) or Gurley (top scorer last year)? My league is very WR happy, and I'm probably looking at someone on the Stephon Diggs level as my top WR if I don't go AB in the 1st. I think I could still get a decent 2nd RB when the draft comes back around (Jordan Howard level). Thoughts?
  4. I understand guys are slumping in masse, but it's kinda funny to say "starts getting deep" about a lineup that has consistently hit Schwarber and Contreras 6th and 7th, while having two of Zobrist, Almora, Happ on the bench every night when they were healthy. To be fair, my quote was "ridiculously deep". Ha. I completely missed that word. My bad.

  6. Yeah, I assume someone hacked into Schwarber Fan’s account as he made a game thread and didn’t mention the weather at all. i'm actually serious, i'm way too lazy to look for myself It's beautiful. No issues.
  7. Will they though? Only thing more is either 2 firsts or a 1st and 2nd in 2019. A team like Green Bay MIGHT give up the latter, because they have 2 firsts in 2019. But the Raiders don't have much leverage at this point. Mack probably won't sit out the entire season, but as of now it's a threat. The Raiders could face a decision of no Mack + no pick vs. no Mack but with draft picks.
  8. Been arguing on Twitter since this happened, that this Fuller play is indeed a penalty 100x out of 100. Just as the Broncos announcer explains, the penalty is announced as "leading with the head", which I think is throwing people off. Fuller definitely did not lead with the head. But he drives his shoulder into his head. Still an illegal play, regardless of how it's stated on the announcement. You just simply can't do this. The sentiment that this is ruining the game or defenders have to "learn how to play differently than they were taught" is nonsense. Literally nobody has ever been taught to hit in the head or with the head. Big hits make highlight videos and these players have seen that over the years and it's become way too commonplace. You can still make a hard hit without hitting with or in the head. I've had people arguing that the runner lowered his head into Fuller's shoulder. Yeah, this clearly is not a guy using his head as a battering ram. I've had people arguing that Fuller had nowhere else to hit. Well, for one he had the entire rest of his body to hit. Secondly, he could have simply not hit him, unless he was getting out of that tackle, as another defender already has him wrapped up. Now people are arguing semantics that "they called the new rule", not hitting in the head. Either is a 15-yard penalty. We really arguing that they didn't call the correct 15-yarder? People need to stop this caveman mentality with football. These are not gladiators made to bash each other in the head for your personal entertainment. They are people spending on average 1/20 of their lives in a very dangerous occupation that shouldn't have to completely ruin the quality and length of their lives.
  9. I was reading a 1st, 2nd, 7th would do it. 2 1st would likely get it done, but I would like a 2nd rd back with Mack If Oakland decides to trade him, I’d do that trade so fast Bears don't have a 2nd in 2019, due to the Anthony Miller trade. But yeah if they take a 2019 1st, and a 2020 2nd, I'd be all for it. I probably wouldn't make the trade anyway if the 1st and 2nd picks were in the same draft.
  10. This Cubs lineup is a combined: 29-65, with 12 doubles, 4 HRs. .446/.507/.815, including Javy 9-13 with 4 doubles and 2 HRs and Rizzo 8-16 also with a pair of HRs, against Taillon.
  11. Javy needs to be good again. Edit: on offense.
  12. It's almost like Chatwood shouldn't have even started the game. If only there was a way to know this before the game.
  13. This is the best. Intentional walk the leadoff man every inning. Or in Chatwood's case.....
  14. This is the "we need more than 1 run today, fam" lineup.
  15. I hate lineups with all the hitters stacked from one side of the plate. I could be making this all up, but I feel like a pitcher can get in a groove hitting the same part of the plate over and over (typically outside corner) with all LH or RH batters if pitching with the opposite hand.
  16. Good win. Hopefully, Lester is fixed.
  17. Oh I'm thinking Miller is most definitely going to play and play a lot. Yeah, Miller's fine. But from the sounds of things he earned it in camp. Believe he started with the 3rd team and was treated like a starter in the last preseason game.
