  1. Kyle Long out 6-8 weeks. IDK if he's going on IR. Could put him back late in the season or potentially for the playoffs. Based on his past recoveries, I think he goes on IR to return and then decide in 8 weeks if he can come back. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  2. Thought I saw a Bears -10 today. That's pretty crazy, though Buffalo is terrible offensively and shouldn't be able to score 10 points. Bears have scored at least 23 in all but 1 game. So, -10 makes sense on the surface. I'd love to see a repeat of the Tampa game, but Buffalo is solid defensively. They have some guys that can pick Mitch off if he's not accurate.....though if he's off as much as he has been at times, Buffalo doesn't have an 11ft tall defender.
  3. I do think some of his success is due to good scheming by the coaching staff (but that shouldn't be a knock against him - do you think Mike Glennon is running as successful as an offense? Do you think Jared Goff is lighting it up in a John Fox offense?) and I do think he has some accuracy issues but I think a big part of that is footwork. You see his issues when he's hurried or scrambling. A concern but certainly fixable. He has also made some really really good throws and is starting to go through his progressions better which he wasn't doing earlier in the year (possibly because its a new offense). And then of course the ability to make plays with his feet doesnt make him a better passer but it makes him a better QB as long as he's not scrambling too soon. I mean Alex Smith isn’t a bad NFL QB by any stretch but they made him look like a legit MVP candidate for a lot of last season. I guess we won’t know for sure until they need a back-up to go in there for extended time. I’m just not encouraged with Mitch, beating a good team with Mitch being the reason why they won might change things for me. I mean, I know you want the ACTUAL win......but Mitch is a dropped INT and 2 special teams TDs away from beating both GB and New England. We all see the badly missed throws, but it seems like that's all you see and not the great throws (like pretty much every Miller catch yesterday). And the scheme is helping receivers get wide open, but Mitch wasn't even reading them right 5-6 games ago. Nobody is saying he's for sure the guy the next 10-15 years.....but there's absolutely no reason to be down on him. He's still putting up near great numbers despite missing a horsefeathers load of throws.
  4. Stats lie Agreed. They don't even take into account the absolute weapon he's been running the ball on 3rd downs.
  5. You're not getting 2nds for them. My honest guess is Howard gets you a 5th. Doubt Floyd even gets that. There were literally articles this past week saying we won't be able to justify picking up his option year. You always pick up the option year unless it's a Kevin White situation where he's shown nothing for 4 years. Should have picked up Fuller's option in hindsight. Floyd's good enough against the run and coverage, with still upside as a pass rusher to justify it (3-4 QB pressures yesterday, beast against the run).
  6. Last snap as a Bear? My guess is no. Even if he's done for this season, they don't have anyone to fill in for him nor money/picks to replace him.
  7. I feel for Howard. These run plays are horribly designed and even worse blocked. Dion Sims literally blows his block on every run play.
  8. Not a memorable first start for Hutchinson. I also would rather not watch Cameron Payne play basketball. Just really dislike his face.
  9. Yeah. Really weird game. 64 defensive snaps. Hicks- 59 Mack- 54 (14 rushing the passer, Pats had 38 drop backs) Goldman- 47 Floyd- 45 Callahan 39 (so nickel 64% of the time) Nichols 35 Smith 34 Roy Robertson-Harris, who has been pretty good played fewer snaps than Bullard (22 to 16) for some reason. So, essentially.... most plays, Fangio had 3 DL, 1 ILB, 2 OLBs, and 5 DBs. He played Hicks way too much. Played Goldman, a non-pass rusher, in too many passing situations. He played Trevathan as a blitzer way too much. Didn't have Smith in coverage vs. a good receiving RB enough. Also, the Kush/Daniels platoon needs to stop. The split was 54%/46% in favor of Daniels, but they need to just pick one (hint, it's Daniels) and leave that guy at LG the whole game.
  10. So, Khalil Mack played 84% of the snaps yesterday and rushed the passer 7 times in each half. 14 times total. Meaning he was in coverage most of the game. Floyd obviously was in coverage most of the game. Roquan Smith, who is the fastest LB on the roster, and the best bet on the team to be able to cover James White.... played 55% of the snaps. Fangio took Smith out in the nickel to play 3 DL and 2 OLBs who covered instead of rushing most times. And blitzed Trevathan, another coverage LB.
  11. Just quote me man. And I didn't "blame" the playcalling. I just said it's not helping. It obviously is helping a lot. The plays are there. The receivers are open, and Mitch keeps missing. That's the thing though, he doesn't "keep missing". He's completing 2/3 of his passes, despite the most throws over 20 yards in the league. Definitely missing more than any of us would like. But you seem to be dwelling on the misses instead of him hitting 66% for a pace of > 4000 yards and 30+ TDs. So yeah, maybe I was wrong in saying it's not helping (I was talking more run/pass ratio anyway).
  12. It's so weird that you keep pushing this "Trubisky is terrible" agenda, when you were one of the most vocal Cutler supporters on this board. If Trubisky continues along the same terrible plane he's been on this season, he finishes better than Cutler across the board statistically. mitch had more talent and better coaching around him than cutler ever had And he's making the most of it to the tune of nearly 30 points per game and a 97 passer rating, with less experience than Cutler had before he was traded to the Bears......yet it's still not enough for you.
  13. Just quote me man. And I didn't "blame" the playcalling. I just said it's not helping.
  14. The point is that chalking this loss up as expected and Not that bad since we all thought this team was mediocre in August is not a good way to judge a team that has to win with what they already have. They aren't getting more talent. This is the team they have to win with now. Mack is worth the trade, but you still have to win games and their qb was trash today. It's so weird that you keep pushing this "Trubisky is terrible" agenda, when you were one of the most vocal Cutler supporters on this board. If Trubisky continues along the same terrible plane he's been on this season, he finishes better than Cutler across the board statistically.
  15. Yes, he was bad. But his bad was being responsible for 360 yards of offense and 31 points even if you take out the Hail Mary. That's enough to win most weeks. The turnovers can't happen, but the 2 INTs were DBs wrestling the ball away from WRs. That being said, he's lucky there weren't several other picks. Trubisky has had little help from his running game. Not much help from his playcaller. And the last 2 weeks, nothing from his defense. I'm encouraged by the fact he's kept his teams in games that his defense and special teams has given up 69 points. Before Tampa, this wasn't possible. Hopefully, the team can get it together in all phases at once and start playing some consistent football.
  16. Trading away firsts to come up short of the playoffs is absolutely unacceptable. 8 wins is a bad season. Hmm. A quick browse of your posts to start game threads in Weeks 1-4, I see a lot of you saying, "IF they HOPE to compete", "playoffs BECOME realistic with a win", "3-1 start makes playoffs possible". You knew they traded 1sts before all these games, yet never have you said 8 wins is a bad season. You never thought this was a playoff team, until they started to play like a playoff team......which was my point. I understand if you play like a playoff team and have a division lead early in the season, expectations can change. But the Bears will be favored to be 5-3 this time 2 weeks from now. Meanwhile, the Vikings play the Saints and Lions....while the Packers play the Rams and Patriots. Based on Vegas odds, there's a decent chance the Bears are playing for 1st place in Week 10 and 11 against the Lions and Vikings, respectively. Losing a game today that you and Vegas expected them to lose changes nothing.
  17. Some perspective. I think everyone is so worried right now because for the first time in a while, the Bears actually are worth worrying about. People are critical of Trubisky, because he's actually worth being critical of. People are critical of the defense, because they are actually worth being critical of. People are upset about the way the team played in a loss because they are capable of playing better. This is much better than the last 3 years with 0 hope, 0 expectations and 0 results. I don't think most on this board expected much out of this team as recently as 1 week before the regular season started. Mitch was below average today, and still managed 300+ yards, combined for 3 TDs, and led an offense that had 500 yards and 31 points. He's also at or above most reasonable expectations for him after what was a lost season as a rookie. The defense is also going to be fine. They wilted under 105 degree heat in the 2nd half in Miami and missed a assload of tackles. And they faced the best QB/coach combo in NFL history and held them to a respectable 24 points, with their best player gimpy. They SHOULD be able to win the next 2 games against inferior teams with young and/or terrible QBs. I don't think either NYJ or Buffalo are capable of running the type of offense comprised of quick throws and RB mismatches that the Dolphins and Patriots were able to run. Hopefully, Trubisky is able to keep making big plays, and shore up the accuracy a bit over the next couple weeks. But also hope this is a chance for the Bears to ease up on Mack a little, get him healthy as they get big leads the next couple weeks and go with more Lynch/Irving. The bottom line though, this is about the team everyone expected coming in. We expected a team that would be competitive, but probably just short of the playoffs with about 8-9 wins. That's exactly how they are playing. They've lost 3 games by a combined 11 points, with an OT loss, dropped game-winning INT, and coming 1/2 yard short of tying in regulation.
  18. I feel like Mitch was decidedly below average, yet still probably the best player in a Bears uniform today (or on the sidelines if we're counting coaching), other than probably Bilal Nichols. I don't know if that's good or bad.
  19. Am I crazy or was he beyond the LOS and possible OOB? And still Bellamy has to make that play.
  20. You don't take timeouts to stop the clock for a team that has Tom Brady and only 1 TO of their own.
  21. Getting upset about that sequence before the half makes no sense. Parkey wasn't making a 58 yarder. Only thing that could happen is a block and return for TD. Nothing positive was going to come out of that. Hail Mary and dumpoff to Cohen for a TD both had about the same chance of happening AKA none.
  22. More rest though!
  23. They've been fine. Mitch holding onto the ball too long or they are bringing more than the Bears have to block.
  24. He's in no way "cruising". He's 3-10, with a 0 yard pass and a throw behind to a wide-open receiver for a catch. A few incompletions saved by penalties. He looks pretty bad.
  25. Just run the horsefeathering ball
