    Pete Alonso

I don't think Alonso ages particularly well. He's already almost unplayable at 1B. I'm not interested in a long-term investment there, so I wouldn't be willing to give up major pieces to acquire him.
  2. Today's stats definitely count for Canario. 4/5, 2 2B, 2 HR
  3. 100 Stuff+ is an average MLB pitcher (by definition). Facing the majority of pitchers in MLB, bat speed is more than twice as important as bat to ball. By the time that you reach 200 stuff+ where bat to ball is nearly as important, you're talking about just a handful of pitchers in MLB. Don't get me wrong. Canario still has a lot of development to do. But that elite bat speed is a much more important factor for success than the swing and miss.
  4. I was going to have Canario at #2 in the system last fall before he got hurt. Enough other guys have emerged that I don't think I can put him back that high yet, but he's a damn good prospect. I'd imagine he's a great candidate for the AFL to get some extra AB this year.
  5. It would be even more embarrassing to play second fiddle to the braves down there.

  7. Another factor with Wicks is mentioned in the article. He's still in the midst of honing his stuff at AAA. Even just optimizing things for this season, he's not going to be reliable in the short term as he's still adjusting to the AAA level. And even if he succeeds in the short term, he doesn't have enough innings left to fill in as a starter for the rest of the year (as OO just pointed out, he's already past his career high in IP). I'd give Smyly at least this turn to see if he can get back on track and give Wicks another turn or two in AAA to stabilize things while controlling his innings there.
  8. So he's a good fit for me, then!
  9. Len is still my favorite announcer, but Boog is pretty good when he's paired with a competent partner. JD is elite, IMO. But I'm disappointed by how little we get those two in the booth on their own. Sutcliffe & Girardi are both horrible and not getting any better. If we can't have JD in the booth full-time, can we get Glanville to be the guy that subs in? I much prefer him over the other guys.
  10. I like it just to see the reaction of Boston fans.
  11. The 40 innings alone approaches his career high in IP, which he's already past on the season. Wicks is a lot more likely
  12. Some awesome stuff collected by Brett over at BN this morning.
  13. I'm really looking forward to him playing at South Bend next year as a 19 year old.
  14. Celebration you say?
  15. Looks good in both light and dark mode on my pc
  16. With Stroman going down for longer, it would be really helpful if Wicks started dominating.
  17. Had I realized Canario's numbers in August looked like this, I would have ranked him higher.
  18. That's easy power for a guy that size
  19. Would have been nice to have Jeimer bat last inning with a runner on 2nd
  20. Oops - I had given up understanding by that point
