  1. Gammons was talking about this last night. He said that Dunns options are voided if he is traded, so contract negotiations would be necessary beyond this season if he was traded. Gammons went on to say that Griffey is also being shopped and was more likely to get traded even though he has a no trade clause. Gammons specifically mentioned the Southside as the #1 locale for the Kid. My thing is that really all the contenders at the moment have solid OFs, with the exception of Arizona, who probably wont pony up the dinero for another guy. Cleveland is another possibility, although i doubt the Kid would ever go there.
  2. Um, lets add it up. Exhibit A: This weekend with Hudson and Renteria. Exhibit B: Giles taking out Prior and ending his career. Exhibit C: Fick and his cheap shot during the 2003 playoff game. What do you need for a rivalry?
  3. Theriot is not very good defensively at SS and cant handle it over the long haul (arm and range). That said, he is an excellent sub. I would love to see DeRosa shopped and have Fontenot, Izturis, and Theriot switching out in the middle. DeRosa with JJ or MM might bring an upgrade in the pen or bring us the decent catcher we sorely need.
  4. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6909946 Bowden looking at him hard. Would fit along side Mr Young very nicely. Two head cases on the right side of the field. Didnt realize he had 2 suspensions last year- 15 games and then 30 games for bad behavior. I will pass....not worth what it would cost.
  5. .326/.373/.941 in 2007 v. .282/.328/.841 in career i likey the 2007 version more better. June so far: .514/.538/1.674 in 8 games...that is obscene.
  6. So a 1 OPS now equals 17 Million on today's market? Who knew? Talking about abuse of statistics....
  7. Huh? 2007 .214/.273/.569 Career .254/.295/.706 He is a bum- always has been and never will be.
  8. Although its just since May 27th (10 games), here is the effect i am talking about. Teams see Carlos Lee tearing up the league and leading at one point in RBIs. So they pitch to Berkman now instead of Lee. From May 27th: Berkman .254/.400/.349 to .244/.382/.373 Lee .311/.341/.539 to .309/.353/.538 Lee's sluggo % is better than what i would have expected, but should start falling a bit more. Berkmans average should eventually pick up once he readjusts. Also, Berkman only got 2 games for his tirade and showing up on the field during a melee once he was already tossed. Bob Watson really blew that. Mr Robinson would have given him a week to think about it. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AtuGPO2IU9v.nZiWdy4c2145nYcB?slug=ap-astros-berkmansuspended&prov=ap&type=lgns
  9. The Indians would be seriously crazy if they did this. Westbrook will be back soon from the DL and it matters as to how he re-adjusts. If he cant return to form, then maybe you go out for a Z...but this is a lot of talent to give up for someone who is going to be a FA at seasons end. The Indians not only lead their division but are 5 games in front of the 2nd place WC team. No reason for them to panic or overpay right now.
  10. Was watching the draft which they briefly interupted for it. Gammons called Stewart to break it up. Schilling was throwing nothing but fastballs in the 9th. The announcers commented that he wasnt using any other pitches and was shaking off Varitek(?) who was catching. With Stewart being a primarily fastball hitter and a veteran, it really wasnt all that shocking.
  11. Where are all those Lou bashers that were after him when he went crazy last Saturday trying to get his team motivated? Francona did the exact same thing last night for the exact same reason after the Sox lost 4 in a row. I have to admit, it was pretty funny watching Francona throw/slam his bubble gum down then launch into the tirade.
  12. Molina is going to be out for a while though, and Stinnet will give them more manageability. Good move by the Dodgers though- he was signed to be an insurance policy on Martin and they can drop his salary and roster spot now.
  13. This is the first time i have ever seen anything printed. There have been hints and allegations in interviews with Stone and Walker and a few others, but no one had put it to ink.
  14. Ah, the truth beginning to leak slowly: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=wojciechowski_gene&id=2890891&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1
  15. XM Radio Lets you listen to whatever you want, whenever you want- and mostly without the stupid commercials (they have commercials on the TV supported channels).
  16. Its time for another Will Ohman blows update. In todays installment, Will walks the first batter of the inning that he was brought in to get specifically out. Heard this one before? Wait. Piniella leaves him in to get out of his own jam and to wade through the pinch hitters, and shock of all shocks...ends up blowing the game. But if you missed it, no need to be upset, i am sure we will get to see it again in the next few weeks. Ohman needs to go now. Japan, AAA, AA, another team, outer Zimbabwe, i dont care- just go. 0-3 5.27 ERA.
  17. Would get a sandwich pick i believe, unless they changed that too.
  18. Duncan out probably a week with bursitis/infection n.o.s. in his knee. Rolen hurt his hammy running to first and will miss a few days.
  19. Ah refreshing to see a good old fashion beanball war and brawl with, and this is most important, another team. ARod is in a mood this week. They dust him again like that and he might go out to the mound with the bat. Who knew the Farns wasnt the craziest pitcher the Yankees have? That kid Proctor is the limit. Youklis looked like John Malkovich with that crazy look in his eye after he got dinged. Mussina v. Schilling tomorrow. Wow, just go ahead and call in the National Guard now. Both of those guys will throw at people in a heartbeat. Should be good and entertaining, especially if Lowell's wrist injury is bad from the HBP. And one last note, a major shocker. JD Drew got hurt with a pulled hammy.
  20. the MLBPA is not dumb.
  21. I caught what Theriot was telling Barrett on the late BT edition. Ryan said "that was bush league." Dont know if he was talking about Z pointing at his head and starting it or Barrett pointing at the scoreboard, but it got Michaels attention. They also said Barrett has 2 black eyes, a busted lip, and got thrown into a locker with his face from what they are saying.
  22. No. I think all suspensions are just like the MLB suspensions, the team is just short- unless its a long term suspension where they will be placed on the restricted list- and there are several machinations to that including a hearing i believe. It is unlikely that either player would allow themselves to be placed on the DL for a bogus reason. The MLBPA would have kittens. Miller knows he is near the end and is just trying to hang on to the chance or the injury was legit.
  23. I still remember that HR he hit. That was far and away the longest i have ever seen out of Wrigley but he got robbed on the distance.
  24. On the DL with a herniated disc. Also subbing as the teams emergency driver.
