  1. With them signing Schmidt and Wolf, and having Lowe, Billingsley, Penny, Kuo, and others, it's inevitable they need to trade someone. Everything that I've heard says Penny is the one to go.
  2. Get Penny and Suppan and I'll be a happy man.
  3. I'd rather land a SS who could hit and start Pie than get a guy like Church and start Izturis.
  4. Agreed. Even if it's only someone like Westbrook or Jennings, we need to get at least one of them. Lilly and Jennings I could tolerate and we could have a decent rotation. Lilly and Meche is garbage. So you don't want Lilly or Meche, but you do want Jennings, a guy who had an ERA+ below 100 and a WHIP over 1.55 in 2003, 2004, and 2005? And willing to give up minor league talent to get him? Yes. Jennings is a rental and won't cost us 5/55. Still, you're giving up minor league talent for a rental in a year in which it's unlikely the Cubs will win anything. Don't see the point. I think Jennings could contribute more than any of our young guys (Ryu, Marmol, Marshall, Mateo) this year. To be honest, I'm not content with playing for 2008 and beyond. I'm growing tiresome, and I think Jennings is a solid 3 or 4 guy.
  5. That's what I wanted. I don't even know what SS we could acquire now though.

  7. I'd give them Hill and J. Jones and their pick of an AA pitcher for Hudson and Andruw Jones at call it an offseason. The minor league would need some serious restocking (but let's be honest, it already does). We aren't accomplishing anything by giving up Hill for Hudson. In all honesty, I'd rather have Hill anyways.
  8. I don't think Aramis will ever bat directly behind Soriano. You see, Soriano was on base. Doesn't mean Aramis was directly behind him.
  9. Bold prediction: Schmidt ends up beaning Soriano in the face on a pickoff move, breaking many bones and ending his season, and on his next pitch he hits Aramis with a pitch in the kneecap, shattering it, thus ending his career. Schmidt will replace Rafael Furcal as the most hated Dodger by Cubs fans.

  11. I'm off to class now, but when I return I expect to be fully disappointed by who the Cubs have signed.
  12. I think that's out of line. Everyone here realizes what the market situation is. Regardless of what the market situation is, 9/36 is overpaying. Plain and simple. Look up Julio Lugo's stats and tell me he's worth 9m a year, because he's not. I wanted Lugo. I like his abilities. But, for 9m, no thanks. Take that extra money and offer it to Schmidt. Trade for Ryan Church to play CF and let Boston deal with Lugo for the next 4 years. But, save the high and mighty talk. It doesn't become you. No it isnt, it's vastly underpaying ;)
