  1. Was it that badly officiated? All my Iowa fan friends are crying about it on FB.
  2. David Price, chauvinist
  3. Yeah, left him out. And that's why I'm curious to see what happens w/Abrams, because while he is a senior, it's hard to imagine him getting the bulk of the PT at the point guard position with Starks added to the mix, and we've got shooting guards out the wazoo. I'm not saying he'll be anchored to the bench or anything, but he's either gonna lose quite a bit of time or Groce is going to have get creative.
  4. So does being a woefully inefficient scorer. What I am saying is that you're overstating how much of a threat he is. In fact, I think using the word "threat" is being generous. If you have two options who really aren't scorers, I'll take the one who realizes it. If Tracy were to scale back his attempts and take only high percentage shots while focusing primarily on being a distributor, he'd be much more of an asset. I'm wondering what's going to happen to Abrams' PT when Starks comes on board. With Starks, Rice, Tate and Nunn, I don't see him having much of a role.
  5. But Tate isn't a threat to score at all and he can't take it strong to the hoop like Abrams is known to do. basically, Tate has been a pretty good passer and primary ballhandler for a freshman, but he'll only get better. He doesn't have to be a threat, and frankly that isn't nearly as beneficial to the team as consistently facilitating the actual scorers on the team. We have enough "threats". And being a good passer and ball handler is what we need the PG to be, not a guy who hits the occasional shot. And was we move forward and guys like Hill and Nunn develop, the "threat" that Abrams poses will become more and more irrelevant. Bottom line is that by consistently taking shots, Abrams is doing more harm than good.
  6. I appreciate those qualities about him, but it would be so much nicer if he realized his limitations. He's probably the 4th or 5th best offensive option of the starters, and should really limit himself to 5-7 FGA per game. I just think we're a better offensive team with Tate on the floor.
  7. I hadn't looked at the numbers that closely, but even to the eye he's an inefficient offensive player, and one who fancies himself one of the top scoring options. Tate at least seems content to be a distributor, and he's better at it than Tracy already.
  8. I'm not going to lie, there's a part of me that really dislikes Abrams. He's a good slasher, but he really gets carried away sometimes. It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if Tate started taking more and more of Tracy's minutes.
  9. They're also using Seneca Wallace and Scott fn Tolzien. We looked the same with Hanie and Todd Collins. And the Bears also didn't look as good as the Packers w/Rodgers. They might as well re-name the team the Green Bay Rodgerses.
  10. Cubs - Sosa (home and blue alt), Wood (home), Sandberg (old blue road pullover), Dawson (old blue road pullover), Walton (old blue road pullover) Homestead Grays - Josh Gibson Bears - Payton, Anderson (Neal), Urlacher Bulls - Jordan (red and white) Illinois BB - Kendall Gill
  11. Miggy back to 1B, Castellanos to 3B, and money freed up to re-sign Scherzer. And unless I am misreading things, it ostensibly removes a SS target from the Cards, whose options seem to be dwindling.
  12. She's really not all that attractive on screen, either. Another one like that (decent on screen, not at all in person) is Julia Roberts. One show we had the cast of some movie I can't remember the title of, but it was a chick flick with Julia Roberts, Maggie Gyllenhaal and some other actresses. Those chicks are SOOOO skinny in person. It's gross Maggie Gyllenhaal is the stuff of nightmares. If you put a wig and dress on Jake he'd easily make the more attractive woman, and that isn't a compliment to him. He wouldn't even need to shave.
  13. She's really not all that attractive on screen, either. Another one like that (decent on screen, not at all in person) is Julia Roberts.
  14. He's been better than expected, imo. I was expecting something of a bull, but with that weight off he's quick and has displayed surprising hops. And I'm liking Jaylon Tate. If he improves, I think we may end up in a situation where forcing Abrams off of the point becomes a legitimate option. I like Tracy, I just don't think he's a true PG. And if Tate is what he appears to be, it's be hard to justify leaving Abrams as the primary PG through next season.
  15. Illinois looked good today (from what I saw). There's a good team in there, it's up to Groce to coax it out. Rice is a different player minus that weight, Tate has been a pleasant surprise and Egwu is improving. Next year is going to be exciting.
  16. Soler has so much potential that I'd like to see a full season of play before I start dropping him too far down my list. His performance has been a disappointment, but that's more a result of his injury than an inherent lack of talent/polish, imo. I think he could be a beast, and I certainly wouldn't trade him off for pitching prospects at this point.
  17. I never really thought we were going to get him. He probably made a good choice since Self develops big very well. That said, that was some pretty classless crap the way he did it. Losing Quentin hurts us a lot more I think. That was the perfect guard for what Groce wants to do. Agree, Snider hurts far more. Team should still be really decent next year though: Abrams/Tate/Starks Rice/Nunn/Cosby/LaTulip Hill Colbert/Black/Paul/Finke Egwu/Morgan I think we'll be all right. Alexander and Snider might have really elevated the program to the top 2-3 in the B1G, but I think we'll still be solidly in the top half of the conference next year. We're not hurting for talent, though this year might be a bumpy ride. Today was a bad day for sure, but I was feeling pretty good about the next few seasons before Snider was a thought and when Cliff seemed impossible.
  18. Let him have his five minutes of Iowa having a better team.
  19. and Illinois' class is destroyed. awesome. kansas will never stop haunting us, i mean, when is enough humiliation enough? When is there going to be another Dee Brown? A top Chicago kid that isn't a [expletive] sheep? Realistically, I think we're going to have to win a bit before the top talent starts heading down to Champaign. Weber really dug a pretty big hole.
  20. I wonder how many psychotic messages/tweets/etc. sulley has sent Cliff's way by now. Honestly, I had no real expectation that Cliff would commit to the Illini. The Snider thing is much more disappointing to me.
  21. No one knows what is going on, [expletive]'s flying in all directions out there.
  22. I, for one, never ceased to be amazed at how an adult can find enough time to post on message boards/columns 24/7/365. It's what I might do if I had absolutely nothing else to occupy my time. Kyle is either the greatest manager of time ever, or he has a tragically desolate life.
  23. Nolte's "aging" probably has less to to do with the passage of time than a myriad of other things.
  24. Yeah, he's got douche written all over him. My wife interacts with celebrities occasionally, and one of the ones she found the most unpleasant kind of surprised me: Deepak Chopra. Apparently he can be a real diva.
  25. They're going to get actual Tulo. They seem to be aiming a bit higher than Castro. I'd bet heavily against this. Colorado's FO/ownership has an irrational attachment to Tulo. That's not to say Tulo isn't worth being attached to, but Mozeliak and Co. are too smart to pay what the Rockies will ask. I think St. Louis ends up with one of Peralta/Drew/Lowrie.
