  1. there's so much funny about this. he's better than player a, unless he hits first, in which case player a is better than he is. Clearly you lack the proper understanding of the nuances of the game. Being a leadoff man isn't just batting first, it's a state of mind that numbers cannot express.
  2. Oh, cubbinalltheway, did you wander away again? C'mon, let's get you back to the home and have a nice, hot cup of tea. Also, Jake Peavy. I heard Jake believes the end of the Mayan calendar spells doom for us all, and wants to spend his remaining time in Chicago.
  3. it probably is... Not to derail this thread even further, but I don't think so. The two most likely scenarios in which the sun wouldn't rise tomorrow are if the earth is either a)obliterated or b)comes to a complete standstill on it's axis. Now I am no statistician, so I don't know how to figure the odds of either of those things happening, mostly because there are so many variables. Now the odds of dying in a MVA are about 84:1, which I am guessing are far better.
  4. I really don't think he does. And even if he did, gullible =/= stupid.
  5. Like I said, if someone was so inclined, they could. I didn't say I was.
  6. I don't think so, but someone so inclined could believe you implied it.
  7. There's no end to the unintentional hilarity around here.
  8. But we did get 1 unproductive season out of Juan Pierre in the deal. I hope this doesnt go down in history as another Brock for Bolio type of deal. I'm guessing that Ricky isn't HOF-bound.
  9. This is true. Really, the only way there is going to be any clarification is if Hoffpauir gets more AB's. Hoff looks good, but so did Roosevelt Brown. My feeling is that he is a guy who may be exposed with too much PT, but we'll just have to see.
  10. Quoted for hilarity and for Truthiness: "Did you know, Jerry, that generations of Chicago kids have grown up not realizing that quarterback ratings go higher than 70.0? You see them in parks and backyards across the region emulating their heroes by throwing wobbly passes and practicing hand-offs." God, is that ever the truth. I only really started following the team closely at the beginning of the Harbaugh era, and it has been mediocrity at QB the entire time. You'd think at some point Angelo would at least blindly stumble his way into acquiring a good QB, but no. I'm trying to think of another team that has spent the last 20 years without having had a good-great QB at any point during, but I am having a hard time.
  11. I can find a way to blame Dusty for about anything, but Chad Fox's frail elbow isn't one of them. Oh, Fox would have gone down eventually, but the way Dusty hastened it was truly spectacular.
  12. What he said. If Stone is taking pokes at Harrelson, I may have to listen to a Sox game every now and then. At some point Stone will probably no longer be working for the Sox, and you'll start hearing sarcastic pokes at Harrelson then. I doubt it will happen before. During Saturday game: Hawk: Many people don't know that Eddie Murray was a great defensive 1B very early in his career, before he became a DH. Stone: Yes, and many people are surprised to find out that Murray was a DH when he first came up, because (whoever was the O's 1B at the time) was at first. Hawk: .........(changes subject) Either I am missing something, or that was a subtle jab.
  13. This is why I don't do the bracket thing. I enjoy watching the madness with no vested interest to sully the fun.
  14. Nothing bad that happens to Mizzou is undeserved.
  15. I think the problem is people always remember the couple great, close games each year and think every year is like that. But in reality with 48 games in four days, you're going to get a ton of bad games, with a good chance that there are going to be a couple complete blocks of games that don't have a close one. Friday night it seemed like every game went down to the wire, or OT. And yet only two of the four games did - Michigan State and Cleveland State both won by 15 in games that they controlled the entire way. But the two I saw did. I was just illustrating how which games you get color your perception of the whole thing.

  17. He also takes some subtle shots at Hawk too, I think. And it is pretty evident he still has a soft spot for the Cubs.
  18. IMO, this has been a pretty mediocre year for college basketball. Or rather there has been a lot more parity. There simply aren't any teams you can point to and say are spectacular or a favorite. All the teams in the field are very beatable, and we may see a real free for all. Predicting the results is going to be dicey. The first part of your statement is correct. It's been a very mediocre year for college basketball. There isn't team in the field that seems head and shoulders above the others. It wouldn't shock me to see anyone lose this year.

  20. Well that wouldn't help the city's crime rates. Somewhere more appropriate..... Send them to.....Detroit. http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/Cloudstrife219/drklahn.jpg
  21. Jimmie Wynn says hello. Ah, the Toy Cannon. He was playing for the Astros when I first started following baseball. Thats a terrible porn name Unless its midget porn.
  22. Jimmie Wynn says hello. Hell, even CPatt could generate quite a bit of power.
  23. Sure, if he'd be satisfied with 100-120 AB's.
