  1. Oh, thank god. I don't think my teeth were up to it.
  2. If Soriano k's or gidp, I might take a bite out of my computer desk.
  3. Oh, I assure you we can. The question is will we.
  4. I was trying to avoid bringing Ronny into the discussion, but he makes that play either way it goes. Of course he doesn't add much offensively, and I doubt Lou pulls Ryan for him anyway, so it's really moot. But if we're talking hypothetically, having Cedeno in there saves the game.
  5. That's absurd. Hoff had a good chance to drive the run in with a sac fly or a hit, and probably less of a chance to gidp than Miles. Gathright was extremely unlikely to ground into the dp. Exactly.
  6. I sorta agree. I don't think they'd be able to turn 2, but I do think that it was possible to turn the 2. There was no chance to get the runner at home. Lou put them in double play depth for a reason. Not so they could field it and throw him. If he wanted Ryan to throw home, he would have ordered the IF to play in. right you put him in that depth so that braun can't knock an easy single through the drawn in infield, and he can try to turn two on a double play ball. problem is, braun didn't hit it hard and hit it toward the third base side. it wasn't a double play ball. A SS with good range turns that. A SS with a good arm hits Hill with a solid throw and not a one hop lob. Either way Theriot is a defensive liability there.
  7. I think part of Theriot's problem is he seems oblivious to his physical limitations. Weeks is very fast, and at DP depth, he just doesn't have arm, unless the ball is smoked. Braun has decent speed, but you have to try and turn it unless you have arm to make a solid peg to the plate. He seems to have the same problem on the bases, trying to take a base he when doesn't have much of a chance.
  8. Yeah, not to mention the bullpen probably looked worse then than now. An excellent point. Woody blew his first save against the Brewers too. That wasn't a blown save No, be he was demonstrably worse that day than Gregg was today.
  9. the outfielder - soriano - got a bad jump on a routine fly ball. you're ripping a shortstop for not making a catch on a lazy fly ball to left field. it was the only play he had. you're letting your hatred for theriot distort your view of the game. trying to turn two on that play would have been a terrible decision. Well then his noodle arm prevented him from making a decent throw. The problem is that Theriot "haters" have ample ammunition, at least on the defensive side. All I have to say about Theriot is he better keep getting on base, or he becomes a total liability.
  10. I'm not sure which defensive purpose pulling Fuku serves, save making the defense demonstrably worse. Gregg has issues, but if not for Soriano in left, I don't think the game even gets tied.
  11. Yeah, not to mention the bullpen probably looked worse then than now.
  12. I really want Lee to succeed, but watching him kill rallies is starting to wear on me.
  13. explain Questionable defensive decisions. Horrid basepath instincts. Below average range. Below average arm. okay, what questionable defensive decisions did he make today? and his defense has been evaluated as right around average by most defensive metrics, which doesn't mesh with your assessment. Yeah, because defensive metrics are a rock solid indicator of decision making. Did you even watch the game?
  14. explain Questionable defensive decisions. Horrid basepath instincts. Below average range. Below average arm. Yeah, his decision making is poor at best.
  15. I thought Hoffpauir should have been in there instead of miles Or even Gathright.
  16. If we didnt have a superior option, it would be different. Don't hate him, hate Lou. And don't let your visceral reaction to this cloud the fact that Marmol will save more games as the fireman than Gregg will blow as closer.
  17. We all know Kerry wouldn't blow a save against the Brewers in the first week of the season...... He didn't. Ah, true enough. But he looked just as bad.
  18. We all know Kerry wouldn't blow a save against the Brewers in the first week of the season......
  19. Got a piss poor read and then half assed the attempt.
