    I'm too lazy to look them up, but I'm sure there were. I know BBTN all but said it put the Braves over the top. Turned out to be a total non-factor, good as Tex is.

    You've been following the Cubs long enough to realize that Nolasco had no chance to break into the Cubs rotation and even if he got the shot they wouldn't have stuck with him this long. As recently as June 5, Nolasco had a 5+ERA and was getting lit up. Sure he is having a decent run at it right now, but the Cubs are not known to be overly patient with young pitchers, and Nolasco is benefiting from being on a team that doesn't have many other options other than giving playing time to young players. I think they would have had him in the pen a lot more than the Fish did but I don't know if I'd count him out as a starter. I suppose there is something to be said about letting a young pitcher get some good game experience. That's where I give them (fish) credit, they go young and see who steps up and once they win or the guy gets too expensive they deal him and get some quality in return. Maybe Hendry should ask the Fish who they want for Nolasco and then turn them down and insert that player onto the 25 man roster! Hendry should look at the Marlins and others to find out how to have a decent minor league system.

    His former GM had some hilarious comments about his unwillingness to pitch deep into games. That's all I really know.

    Look at the injury reports. He was on the 15 day DL last month. Came off Jun 22nd.

    I agree but if Hill came back to his 2007 form he would be a 2 or 3 type starter. Possibly true but I think we need to wait for more positive outings/results before concluding he would be able to do that this year.

    Aye. Battery mates. Although thats now even funnier b/c, assuming Sori is back, the Cubs will have 4 starters. God, you can strike me down after the first pitch is thrown if the Cubs have 4 ASG starters. Heck, with that many starters I might actually pay attention to the game this year.

    weeks' EqA was 16 points higher than derosa's last year. of course derosa looks like the far better offensive player when he's having a career year and weeks is having his worst year in the majors. At this point, Weeks is a total enigma. He's just as likely to be abysmal or great from day to day. One day he looks great, and the next he looks like he has no business being on a ML roster. The only thing that you can say with any certainty is that he can take a walk. This has been going on for longer than just this year. And he is consistently inconsistent - there is no one month or half in which he has been better than others. At this point, you have to consider DeRosa the better player, if only because of his relative consistency. DeRo's aggregate numbers from 2006 on are better than Weeks'. If not for Rickie's power surge at the end of last year, it's not even a contest. Weeks has had some injuries to fight through though -- DeRo not so much.

    Meh. I remember not being too upset about the Cubs loss to the Phillies when we got Nomar. In fact, I was about as happy as I've ever been as a Cubs fan. Of course, the Brewers and fans have known about this since last night, so it's a little different. Watching the Milwaukee broadcast you'd think have thought they had just traded for Jesus Christ. I guess when your team never makes big name moves you get a bit silly when one actually happens. It's been incredible. The broadcast last night was hilarious. I guess we look like that to others when we make a big trade too. It was just wild to see it from an outside perspective. I thought I was back at Mount Rushmore or something with all the fading in/out profiles of CC in the dugout. CC looking interested. CC looking serious. CC with the hat on straight. Now he has it on crooked. CC. CC. CC. Oh wait Prince hit a 2 run jack there's a baseball game going on! :mrgreen:
