  1. I'm sure we can find a way to creatively get some exposure for our regulars to the Mets without having to overwork players that could use some rest. Provided we really have clinched by then, of course. I'd put a priority on resting Z & Harden now, and then others like Soto & Lee once we clinch.
  2. I was just thinking about that on the drive to work. I don't know who I'd rather face in the first round... why would you rather face the Mets? Horrible bullpen. No game will ever really be out of reach unless it's like 5 runs in the 9th. Even then.... The Phils do have Lidge, so if they take a lead into the 9th they've shown they can close it. Shortens your opportunities. That's my take on it anyway. I'd rather face the Mets.
  3. i had to read this a couple of times to make sure i wasn't missing something. i didn't think anyone, let alone a major league manager, could be stupid enough to IBB a lefty batter against a lefty specialist so that the lefty specialist can face a RH batter who hammers lefties. It almost seems like Yost just didn't care anymore. Either that or he's literally [expletive]. Or maybe it's both. This was so far out there and sounded so ridiculous I had to look into it a bit more. In fairness to Yost(I can't believe I just said that), Burrell batted .181 in August and he's batting .194 in September. His OBP is under .300 since July. Conversely, Howard is batting .354 in September with a .917 slugging percentage and has been spraying the balls to all parts of the field against both RHP and LHP . So you can see why he would rather face Burrell than the hot hitting Ryan Howard. The choice here was between career numbers versus recent numbers. Yost went with the recent numbers and it didn't work this time. Still. This doesn't take into account the studlines of Shouse against LHP. That's far and away the most egregious part of it. It's a pretty stupid move either way, but it's at least understandable with the recent numbers and if he had a righty (or lefty without extreme splits) on the mound. Given that he had a pitcher who specializes in getting lefties out, it's senseless to walk any left to get to a righty. I wonder if he said "to hell with it" and gave up. I heard Melvin had called him in at one point and asked Ned what he thought the problem was, and Ned said "I don't know. I really don't know." That's the talk around here anyway -- that when Ned had that conversation with Melvin, they both realized it was over.
  4. No, no. We've got to take at least one of these games, preferrably two. It would be a bad thing to allow the Crew to stage some kind of late season renaissance against us @ Wrigley. Can't let them sweep.
  5. Seconded that's one of the big things Grossman has on Orton, Orton' not merely bad on the deep ball he's flat out terrible. As a side note Chris Harris has a really big mouth, it would great if the Bears got another opportunity vs Panthers this season. As much as I'd like to rail on CH for his comments, the fact is he should still be playing for the Bears. He knows it, half the Bears roster knows it, and I'll bet Lovie in his heart of hearts knows it.
  6. Eagles on the verge of losing now.
  7. Fixed.
  8. :hello:  It's their stopper -- CC will be pumped, I figure the Crew gets a boost from the Yost firing. We can take the next 2.
  9. I bet the Brewers get a bump from this. Ned was really a terrible in-game manager. It's gotta be better just based on that alone.
  10. LOL, what on earth were you thinking? 2 things... one, to go to a Monday night game, I'd have to take 2 days off from work two... I could make all my preseason game money back from selling this one game. I guess that makes sense :)
  11. LOL, what on earth were you thinking?
  12. To hell with you. ok Just joking around
  13. To hell with you.
  14. McNabb looks good. I fear for what he's going to do to the Bears' defense in a couple weeks.
  15. If the play is ruled a TD then I guess it's the same as if the play was ruled dead on a fumble. You can't give the ball to the Cowboys because the ball was just sitting there and the play is over.
  16. Best conference in the league: NFC East or AFC South Eagles Cowboys Redskins Giants or Colts Titans Jaguars Texans Tough choice in my opinion. you're not serious are you? Yeah. Even with Wash. the NFC East dwarfs the AFC South. Right now, perhaps, but the Colts and Jags will play better. At that point, I think it's very close. Eh, you may be right but I'm not convinced the Jags are really good.
  17. Westbrook saves his sorry butt.
  18. Dude. You play for the Eagles. You have to fly back to Philly and actually make it off the plane and back to your house.
  19. LOL @ Jackson if he dropped that before the end zone.
  20. Oh my GOD! Highlight reel? The whole damn game is a highlight reel!!!
  21. Great Monday night game. Now just muffle Kornheiser and I'll be good.
  22. He looks really good.
  23. Too much Jessica on the brain.
  24. Just replay everything, sheesh. They can't even see when a guy's entire freaking HEAD is turned backwards.
  25. I think the Crew takes this one.
