    I thought they said during Sunday's game that the Astros brought their families with them when they left Houston. There was a shot of one of their brothers sitting in their bullpen. And, the wording on the t-shirts is incredibly poor taste. People actually died in the storm. And that makes sense. I definitely heard this comment a couple times though. It doesn't connect with reality for me. You're either getting your entire family out of harm's way, or you are an idiot. Nobody else's fault. Don't blab to the media about families being left behind. None of that crap. You're responsible for your own family, period. End of story.

    I'd like to see him get a controlled start next week. Keep the pitch count low, but allow Z to throw some pitches against live hitting to stay sharp. I finally watched the post game comments last night on the news. I'm going to take Z's story at face value. Nobody's said anything about shoulder pain or discomfort. His grandmother died the day before. He's flying back n' forth from South America. Not a very good way to be prepared to start a baseball game. Lou's comments were pretty terse. I didn't realize Z had made a display out of it when he was pulled. I hope that whole thing blows over quickly.

    Heilman flirted with disaster with Infante, but K's him. 1st & 3rd for the Braves, 2 out.

    Does it really matter? Clinching the division is pretty much a formality at this point anyway. Thursday's game against the Brewers kind of sealed it so I think while there will be a celebration when they win but at this point with such a big lead it will be rather anticlimactic. The clinch watch is on.

    A couple guys on ESPN said Hester is "out" for the Bucs game, so I googled it and could find no such proclamation. Although I'm sure the Bears will play it close to the vest regardless. So I'm a bit confused on Devin's actual status, which is probably exactly the way Lovie wants it.

    Unless a medical professional declares that Z's arm is hurting, there's no cause for concern.

    So he takes something off his velocity to stay fresh for the playoffs and the Cards whack him around a bit. Not fun to see, but it's no longer about these games.

    Day to day, I don't think it's anything serious. Just a bit of a hand soreness, if I recall correctly. joint irritation Rest him. Get Koyie and Hank in there. Do it tomorrow too. And the next day if you want.

    This happens all the time at Yankee Stadium. The way they number the sections/rows is really odd, and it screws people up. We had to make a group move from our seats one time, they went a section over to the same seats, and were moved from them because they were actually two sections down. If it's just an honest mistake I don't mind. But too many people come in and sit down closer to the field hoping no one will show up. At least wait for the latter innings. Or don't do it at all. You know the ushers can't be expected to catch everyone, and really why should they even have to? Just be decent, and sit in the seats you bought.

    If they play like they did against the Cubs (outside of Torres) they'll make the playoffs. I'm not sure they can escape the long shadow of Torres for these last few games. Although desperate times call for desperate measures.

    I still don't understand the whole "Selig then made us go to Milwaukee and leave our families behind to deal with the hurricane." Wait, Selig is responsible for your family now? When did this happen? How about getting them the hell out long before this thing hits? Just a thought.

    He was a veggie, but as you can see from the picture the chili dog is chasing him and eventually he gave in. LOL. Though the chili dog looks disgusting. Ahh, but to the Prince it starts to look better and better with each passing day.

    That's interesting. Although KC has been hot lately. I wouldn't be surprised if they were able to win one of those series.

    The people I hear from out here feel the opposite way, they get mad when Lincecum gets pulled. The radio people get very excited about this. We'll see how they react when Lincecum gets hurt. I don't pay much attention to what the media says out here, but two big Giants fans I know (my editor and one of my good friends) both shake their heads whenever I ask them about how stupid Bochy is. They're pretty much hoping he doesn't get hurt and think Bochy is trying to Mark Prior them, just without the pennant race. The ire will be ratcheted up significantly if he blows it out. Right now most are probably just hoping it doesn't come back to bite them.

    I can't believe anyone seriously would prefer Otto over Santo on a daily basis. To me that's close to insanity.
