  1. From what I've seen, SNY's HD feed is just fine. I prefer local announcers to ESPN's national crews most times too. I don't see the problem, but maybe you have more experience with that channel than I do.
  2. This doesn't make much sense to me. Who would you rather face other than a tired CC, a hurt Sheets, and a recovering Gallardo? We've beaten the Crew 6 of 7 games recently, right?
  3. Absolutely not true. The Cubs would have lost a WS game if they made it. But the NLCS was 2 games at the East winner, 3 at the West regardless of who made it. Thanks for the correction. I was laboring under the misconception they took a home game away from us because we didn't have lights.
  4. In '84 we lost a home playoff game because they wanted to play them at night. Now they want us to play them in the daytime. Load of friggin' Howry. Right down the gullet. But I don't think day games are going to hurt us any, so I can't complain from a baseball standpoint. I just would like to watch these damn games. Should I take off work to watch baseball? Crap.
  5. It's a deadline deal that didn't really work out for the Sox, yet they've pretty much maintained their positioning to make the playoffs. By contrast, the Brewers acquired CC, who has been fantastic, yet the Brewers have *still* lost a ton of playoff ground. I'm always fascinated by the deadline deals, how much emphasis everyone puts on them, and then watching whether they really make a difference or not. Many times, they don't.
  6. Absolutely unbelievable that Bradley couldn't find his way on this team given his skillset.
  7. The Cubs are running out of teams they can rip hearts out of...first the Cards, then the Astros, then the Brewers, now the Mets. Somebody has to win that wildcard. Who's left, Florida? Too far behind, I think. It feels good to be the heart ripper for once instead of the traditional role of heart rippee.
  8. Hard to believe someone has a higher total than Howard. But there it is. Reynolds has suffered a significant dropoff this season. He's down 10 points in OPS+ and his K's are waaaaay up. The man's a strikeout machine with a low OBP. Junky.
  9. If the Mets can't win tonight then they're gonna blow it again. Nothing against Marshall because I like what he does for us, but every Met fan is going to be ready to blow their collective lid if they don't win this one. I say keep it close, get into that Mets BP, and rip the friggin' hearts out of the Mets just like Soto did to the Brewers a few days back. REVENGE FOR '69!!!
  10. Lou says "we have an obligation" so I guess that means we would field our starters in this situation.
  11. Nope, we want Mets v.s. Brewers in a Wild Card playoff game. The day after two playoff games between the Mets and Phillies, and the Dodgers and D-backs. If this happened amd there were two days of play-in games, would they move the first round back a day? I don't know who has the coin flips for home field in those games, but I wouldn't think it would be fair to make the Mets and Phillies fly to the other team's stadium, then to Milwaukee (or back to their own stadium) and then to Chicago for the first round all in three days. Theoretically (again, I don't know who has home field) but the Mets could fly from New York, to Philadelphia, back to New York or to Milwaukee and then to Chicago all on consecutive days. After 100 years, anything that makes it easier for the Cubs to get to the World Series is fair enough for me.
  12. They're not likely to have Sheets at 100% and he's been shaky anyway. CC is starting to wear under the strain, and we've shown twice that we can hit him. Parra has turned to junk, and they have literally NO OTHER OPTIONS on their starting staff. Their bullpen remains horrible, and while they once could rely somewhat on Torres if they could get it to him, the clock has struck midnight and he now can't get teams out anymore. We dominate at Miller Park -- it's one of our best venues this season other than Wrigley. I'm not saying you aren't right. But basically, if any team gets hot they would be tough. Even junky teams that slip into the playoffs can get hot and win it all. That said, all things being equal, I don't fear the Crew in the playoffs one bit.
  13. Yeah dumbass. And where did that get you? Oh and by the way, good job getting beat like a ragdoll by a midline receiver to set up the losing field goal. Anyone else just about ready to be done with Vasher? He's sucked all year. How many more weeks does he get pass because he's "coming back from injury?" The man can't cover, and he can't catch anymore either. Right now, he's pretty much a complete and total liability. Oh yeah. Vasher is overrated. He's a terrible tackler as well. A lot of people think he's better than Tillman cause he gets all the interceptions, but what people don't realize is 1. He can't tackle 2. He is always in the right place at the right time. There like always ball hit into the air and he just happens to be right by it. Tillman is so much better than him. He is one of the best tacklers on the entire team He probably is the best tackler on the team besides Urlacher. And he's easily one of the best tackling CB's in the league. This year he's shown a decline. And I think what rchap was referring to wasn't tackling per se, but the fact that Vash has been juked by several runners and made to look really bad in open field tackle situations. He's probably wrapped up pretty good when he's had the chance.
  14. They hold us by the balls as well. As I'm sure everyone knows, we need the Brewers to stay in this race until Sunday so the Mets and/or Phillies can throw Johan/Hamels and give us a much better chance of winning the series. The only question about that is would the Mets/Phillies throw Santana/Hamels if they only had the division to play for. I mean, would they risk their No. 1 starter for a game in the NLDS (i.e. only throwing him once) for the chance to play the Dodgers and have home field rather than the Cubs with no home field in the first round. If they do care about winning the division, then the Brewers don't matter. But if all the Phillies and Mets care about is getting to the playoffs, then we need the Brewers to stay in the hunt. I betcha they'll keep 'em rested.
  15. As someone who has gambled on football, I can say that more often than not the obvious pick doesn't play out that way. I guess hope springs eternal. I'll watch until we get down by 10. Then I'm moving on to other more pleasant things.
  16. I think I'm skunked. Maybe better luck with the NLCS.
  17. The Ed Hochuli mistake is barely a week old. And the hurricane weekend was also only a week ago. You're right. It's about the same time frame for both incidents. One of them they are saying "time to move on" the other one they're still passing out pity. I'm just saying, it's time to move on for both things.
  18. Well, look at what Urlacher said. That's a much better way to handle it.
  19. It could be a bloodletting on national TV unless somebody figures something out double quick.
  20. Tommie is A-OK with Tillman doing what he did: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/1177076,CST-SPT-bside22.article So Trueblood has no talent, yet they dropped back 67 times yesterday Tommie and you got pressure on the QB *ZERO* times. Wake the eff up.
  21. I guess Graham would probably be next in line, and I don't really know how good he'd be.
  22. Some people in the media keep feeding them sympathy, which isn't helping any. Mike & Mike for example have long since started telling everyone to "let it go" on the Ed Hoculy mistake, but weeks later they're still feeding into the pity party on this one. Time for everyone to let it go.
  23. Z can be so frustrating sometimes. He's a friggin' rollercoaster. Sooooo great when he's on, then sooooo maddening when he's not. I just hope there's not some remaining fallout from his shoulder pain earlier. I'm for keeping him rested and on a pitch count until the playoffs. I feel more comfortable with him rested up than "being sharp" from having a full start. Especially since we saw what he can do with 12 days off. Keep him rested, that's my view on it.
  24. It was not absolutely accurate. MLB has forced teams to play elsewhere in the past. These idiots thought it would have been perfectly fine to play 3 games after the regular season ends. They should have gotten out of there Friday, they have nobody but themselves (meaning players, coaches and owner) to blame. Yeah, I agree. They're whining and crying about not playing 3 entire games after the season -- something that would hurt the Cubs much more than them, because we have worked hard to put ourselves into a position where we can rest and be ready for the playoffs. Now we have to forego the rest so that the Stros can make up games in their ballpark when they were partly to blame anyway for not getting their plan in place soon enough? No way.
  25. A bigger issue than McNabb might be Philly's stunt-driven defense confusing and dominating our subpar blocking schemes. 24-10 Philly.
