  1. 8:30 start, game should get over about 11:00. Not too bad. I feel old. Can hardly stay up that late anymore. I know, I saw that basketball time on the schedule last night and it just seemed like complete madness to me. 10 years ago I would have been like, "cool late night sports!!" Kane out? Wow, I didn't see that coming.
  2. What did Jones do criminally?
  3. Good. I was kind of afraid they were going to start this game @ 9:30. Like that basketball game last night.
  4. I agree with what Ditka said, it won't change our offense alot, but I disagree about the significance. Ron Turner is an idiot. It doesn't matter who his quarterback is, he's going to try to run a Favre-style offense. He's not capable of tailoring his offense to the guys he has on the field. What Angelo has effectively done is tailored the personnel to the kind of offense that Turner runs instead. So, I think the addition of Cutler will be significant. Turner will try to push it downfield now. It's what he really likes to do, as you can see from his time with Illinois when he had some weapons, and in '95 when he had a couple decent receiving targets and a passable QB in Kramer. The one misperception that I think is out there is that Turner is like Shoop. He's not. He isn't very imaginative, but he does like to throw downfield if he can. Defenses in the NFL can adjust and stop a passing game if you don't put anything in there to change it up though. I'm not sure Turner can actually do that consistently, so I also view next season as a big test for him.
  5. Turner hasn't developed a QB, but with Cutler I don't think he needs to do much developing. Just more coaching on the offense he will be running. It's one of the reasons getting a guy like Cutler is preferred over drafting one, for the Bears.
  6. Like NY is going to care who is really at fault? If you don't win as a manager in that town, you're done.
  7. I'm having a hard time understanding why Bradley doesn't just serve the suspension now when he's not really playing anyway. Surely everyone, including Milton, knows that the suspension won't be dropped on appeal. If there was contact, then that's always been the rule. The league was probably giving him an out on this by making the ruling very quickly, so he could serve while still nursing an injury. By appealing, he's only going to wind up serving 2 games when he is otherwise healthy. It just doesn't make any sense. I'm kind of sick of this being the major Cub issue too -- especially when we just beat our most heated rival 2 times in a row on bombastic late-game heroics. And nobody even wants to talk about that. They just want to talk about this junk.
  8. Great comeback. I loved how they choked off the Flames in the 3rd period. They didn't let them control the puck the Hawk's zone - they kept attacking, keeping the play down by the Flames' goal for large chunks of the 3rd. Pretty hard to score the tying goal when you're playing down by your own goalie :)
  9. The comments didn't seem that bad to me. The most objectionable thing I heard was that Denver is such a great football town, as if it is better than Chicago. I'm sure Denver's good, but they can't hold a candle to Chicago's love affair with the Bears. Not even close, in any way, shape, or form. But it's not like he ripped Cutler -- he just said he would have stayed, that's all. More power to you Jake, but Jay's not you. Oh -- and I doubt Denver wants you back.
  10. Seriously though, the go Cubs go song is kind of silly. It was fun for a little while.... I wish there was a better celebration song.
  11. what is it from? What the hell is the mouse doing? Having some kind of sick, pseudo-sexual knyption?
  12. The conversation started when I said that if Micah hit 37 HRs this year it'd be the same thing as what Ludwick did. I'm not sure if you saw the beginning of the conversation or not. Just my old theory that if you take a minor league star like Hoff or Jake Fox and play them every day, eventually they'll become a serviceable major league player. Unforunately, with a team in contention, you dont have time to be patient, so they usually end up on the bench or back in the minors. I know the theory didnt quite pan out for Jason Dubis, but still. Did Jason really get that chance to fail for awhile in order to succeed later on?
  13. What the heck is with this expression Ankiel puts on his face when he hits?
  14. Soriano's peaks are soooo high. And his valleys are sooo low. I see he's entered "time to suck" mode. Please come out of it soon.
  15. They tend to have a better impact when they prevent the bases from becoming loaded, thus preventing 3 run homers.
  16. Soto is absolutely horrible at this point in time.
