  1. completely ignore his 5 year struggle prior to 07-08. Soto is a fluke. You're right. Hitters never develop. What they are at 26 is the same as what they were at 21. It's understandable to expect him to drop off a little last year, but it's way too early to call him a fluke. I'll give him some time but it's very disappointing to see this from him.
  2. Women should be put in jail for the nut kick. OFF LIMITS, babe.
  3. I can't get excited, per se. There are too many picks before ours to really speculate who will be available when we pick. About the only thing I'll have going for me in the draft is what receivers will be off the board prior to our pick. In other words, I think I'll just pop in to read the scroll every once in awhile until it's the Bears turn to pick. I'll probably watch the first 10 picks or so. Yeah, my excitement is going to wane quickly as I watch all the WR prospects I wanted go to other teams before we even have our first pick. I'll probably do the same as you until it gets close to 49, then I'll flip it on.
  4. Kind of a strange feeling, being excited for the draft but at the same time knowing you won't have a 1st round pick to be VERY excited about.
  5. They just want it more. They have a bigger backlash to fear if they lose. They're simply a better ballclub than the Bulls. But this miracle comeback from injury thing is a tried and true tradition with the Celtics. They use it to create drama. I congratulate them, but I also see it for what it is. This is not new in sports.
  6. Is there any way Jimbo gets permission to eat the contract and DFA Miles? I really need him off this team. Every time I see him come to bat I want to throw my TV down the basement stairs. I haven't had such a viscerally negative reaction to a player since Hundley. I've got all I can do from openly rooting for him to fail. The only reason I fight it is because I won't feel good as a Cub fan if I do. Miles needs to go. Soon. Not my fault, or anyone else's, that Hendry paid all that money. Eat it.
  7. They get out of the wheelchair because they can. Boston players just like to make more of a drama out of it. You act as if they are superhuman because they put on a green uniform or something.
  8. Let's see if Lou puts up with his current lack of production much longer. If not, then I wonder if something more drastic like Theriot/leadoff & Soriano/3rd would become an option. I'm for moving Lee down. I don't see what the big deal has been, and don't see what it is now.
  9. Yeah, as if other teams' players don't play through injuries.
  10. You Clevelanders talk about how terrible Chicago fans are, yet when something bad happens to a Chicago team, you're right there doing the exact same thing you accuse Chicago fans of. Freaking hypocrites, all of you.
  11. We better get that momentum back in game 5, because I don't see the Hawks winning 2 in a row after losing 3 in a row.
  12. He was released because he was downright terrible.
  13. What a load of crap bunch of comments from Lou.
  14. He was at .940 OPS vs. righties last year, so I think he can be good as a lefty. There was always significant question in my mind how close Milton was going to come to reproducing last year's output. Let's face it, if Milty doesn't have his bombastic 2008, he doesn't even make it on Hendry's radar. If we're going to get closer to the 2006 Bradley than the 2008 Bradley, we're going to be tearing our hair out over this thing all year long. And if DeRosa starts producing in Cleveland, and Bradley doesn't in Chicago.........that'll just intensify the unrest.
  15. I'm not sure what you are all talking about in here. We didn't play a game today. At least, none that I recognize
  16. I took a look at the scoreboard, and it said we were losing. That can't be right, so I'm going to ignore it and continue on with my day.
  17. If he's a reach, it's not by much. He's got all kinds of upside, but is a bit raw. It seems to me he's kind of fallen through the cracks because of Florida's immense talent. He didn't produce greatly in Florida, but it's a little more forgivable when you have Andre Caldwell, Percy Harvin, Cornelius Ingram, Tim Tebow, Emanuel Moody, Chris Rainey, etc. all on the same offense. The ball can only go to so many players. If you could move back and get him at 60, though, that'd be a good value - it's risky, though. He sounds kind of like Bradley. All kinds of physical talent, but just wasn't the go-to guy so he never had a real shot at big numbers. I've heard there are some character concerns, but he seemed to move past them his past 2 seasons. It's a risk, maybe even a reach @ 49. He sounds like physically exactly the kind of WR we need though. I'm watching my fading hope for a Britt/Nicks fall-though going by the boards, and it's making me sad :(
  18. I'm seeing Del Harris doing a lot of talking during those timeouts. Is Vinny really coaching the team in the sense that most NBA coaches do? Hats off to Vinny for finding something that is definitely working better than it was earlier in the season, but I'd still like a different coach on this ballclub. I definitely give Vinny full props for doing what he can to turn things around, especially in helping to find the right mix post-trade.
  19. Well, it's certainly great to watch the Bulls involved in an exciting post-season series. I didn't think I'd see that this year. I love the comments about Rose by Simmons.
  20. I'm glad he's such a man of his principles, but he's only giving up about $62,000 if he drops his suspension (probably about $40K after taxes). If you make 100K, it would be paying a $617 fine. Whoopity doo. If I was making Milton's kind of money, I wouldn't feel like that kind of percentage-of-income based comparison is valid. I'm not saying he's doing it because of the money, but after all.........$62k does buy a pretty damn nice car or some other very nice thing, and $617? Not much.
  21. The Browns are crazy if they think they're going to get top dollar for a receiver who is one more subpar season away from being declared a bust. They're selling low, whether they like it or not.
  22. If you get suspended at work for 2 days, no pay, but you don't think you did what you're accused of doing would you just take the punishment because maybe your company wouldn't get some big account otherwise? If he legitimately thinks he didn't do anything, he's got every right to appeal. People are already mad at him for exercising what he is entitled to under MLB rules. Imagine what will happen if he continues to put up ABs that aren't productive.
  23. If that is not the case, and there is a run on receivers, I hope Angelo doesn't get desperate and overdraft a guy in his spot. If you have to take the 8th or 9th best player at a position that early in the draft, you're probably reaching. They still need help in other places. If there is a run on receivers, and offensive lineman start to slip, I would still like to see them take somebody to provide further depth, and insurance against the very significant possibility that Orlando Pace doesn't last the season, let alone into next season. Agreed. And actually, unless one of the top 6 WRs is on the board (Britt, Nicks, or Harvin are most likely to fall to 49), then they should NOT pick a WR. I like Iglesias out of OU a lot, but not at 49. I think a WR with more upside will be there at 99 anyway. And like you said, I'd rather get the 2nd best FS, 5th best DE, 3rd best DT or 5th best OL, over the #8-9 WR. What about Murphy? He's a guy with very solid physical skills who should be there.
  24. If there wasn't a gale blowing in you wouldn't have been so excited, me thinks. See, there you go blowing up all the positive vibes I'm trying to create.
  25. I'm excited about Teddy's last 2 outings. Too bad we wasted what he did last night.
