  1. I say bench Soto until he drops 20 pounds.
  2. Which game thread is worse? Well, here we're talking about how the Wings take dives, and over there we're talking about how the Cubs are going to get booed when they come home tomorrow. Either way, this is sports hell.
  3. As well they should. Nobody should complain about it either. This team has it coming. I understand the fans have a right to boo, but booing a team that is already pressing incredibly is pretty ignorant. Its not like these guys arent wanting to get hits, score runs, and win games. Booing them does nothing, as Im sure they are pretty embarrassed with their play without the fans making it worse. Home is where you are supposed to be able to go during rough times, and receive praise. If you can't boo a team for a performance so bad that it's starting to approach historical levels, then when can you boo a team? What exactly does booing the home team accomplish? Do you think booing them is going to make them play better? Do you think they dont know theyve played like [expletive] all week? I just dont see the point Accomplishing something isn't the point. The point is to express displeasure.

Personally, I'm not seeing the effort at the plate to put in good ABs that I've been seeing for the past year or so. I disagree that they're doing everything they can.
  5. This is one of those times where you wonder if there's a God, but you're pretty damn sure there's a Devil.

  7. I don't see the Brewers overcoming the Cards for Cub enemy #1 anytime soon. Heck, I still hate the Mets much more than the Brewers, and they aren't even a rival anymore.
  8. Absolutely. as I recall in '06, the Cubs did OK the first few games aftr losing Lee before hitting that massive black hole. This team has much more going for them than 2006 nut they still have to be carefull that they dont go spiraling into obvlivion. I really think we should see what Texas wants for Blalock. its already been stated that theyd deal him for relief help. The question is how much. Obviosuly, they're not going to aquire a top of the line guy from anyone. Id try and offer up Heilman as well as 1 or even 2 of Hart, Stevens and Reinhard and throw in Jake Fox. I know that seems like a lot for a guy at the end of his contract who will probably only get 2 months of regular usage, but remember, theres no guarantee that Aramis is back in July or August or even September, and deperate times call for desperate measures. Also, PetCo is the worst possible place for a team in a collective mega slump, be the pitcher Peavy or Greer or Gaudin or whoever. When your slumping this bad, its almost instinct to try to swing for the fences on every pitch to break out of it, and in PetCo, that aint gonna happen all that often. I've been thinking about that too. Even though the Padres aren't supposed to be good, they're hot right now and we're not, and we've got many hitters who are way too agressive out there -- all in a ballpark built to just suck the life out of guys trying to hit homers. It's really bad for us right now. My big fear at the moment is letting this bad stretch carry over to Monday, when we should be in much better shape.
  9. Meh. They should still be favored in their first four. The first 3 teams they faced (CLE, DET, SF) all finished in the bottom 7 in rushing offense last year, which is where teams might be able to expose them without the Williamseseses. They get GB in week 4, but it's in the Metrodome. It's pretty irritating that they weren't punished during the season. I agree. There was never any reason the Williamses should have received that kind of beneficial treatment when nobody else in the league ever got that. I kind of felt like the judge just punted on the issue because he wanted to go fishing or golifing, or something. The way that thing went down wasn't quite right.
  10. I don't know, I think the loss of Ramirez has had much to do with this team's offensive tailspin. Whether it's psychological, or because he was helping those around him, or whatever -- this club has been abysmal coping with his loss.
  11. well, campbell was saying it was dirty because his arm came up...something brian didn't do on the umberger hit. he kept his shoulder down The puck is also clearly on the stick of Umberger, which isn't the same as Havlat. The two hits aren't really the same, IMO. I've seen the play 20 times, like everyone. While certainly there can be debate on it, if the league is actually going to be cleaning up dangerous plays, then I can understand why Kron was called to task on it. I don't think it means Kron's a dirty player, but that play it clearly looks to me that he was trying to injure Havlat. Does that mean I think the Hawks are always innocent? Of course not.
  12. Ghosts of '04, all over again. Injury after injury, underperforming vets. Nobody knows what's going on. All we need now is a good spat between Brenly and someone on the team.
  13. Pic clearly shows the forearm thrown high. Intent was to injure, IMO
  14. Finally a puck didn't just bounce right to the Wings. And look, we win!
  15. YEAH DAMN YOU !!! YEAAAAHH! \:D/ \:D/
  16. I saw that Kaner "hit." Bounced right off. Hey, at least he tried.
  17. 1-0 Padres. Tell the truth, how many of you realized the Cubs game would be over before the Hawks game?
  18. OT. This is going to be a freakout.
  19. More controlled passing, and less "dump it down the ice and hope we get to it." We're NOT getting to it. Control the puck, plz.
  20. Feels like this huge hammer is just hanging over my head.
  21. The puck just always bounces to THEM. God.
