Not just the coach though. It's the entire org, from the top all the way down. It's hard to hire the right coach when the top execs don't have their s*** together. Best coaching candidates aren't dumb, they know the situation they'd be coming in to. And leadership doesn't know how to identify the best anyway. I mean it's not impossible, but much much more difficult to strike gold.

Packers’ game plan is the same most games. Opening drive run run run. Defense pulls guys in. Then open up the playbook. It works as long as you can run effectively and they usually do.

That game was incredible. The soul crushing way Dallas lost rivaled any of the Bears losses, include the hail mary loss. Yes, I'm at the usual point during the NFL season, deriving joy only from other teams' misery.

Well you didn't miss anything after that. It was more of the same. There was nothing at all redeemable about the game. Also, and I know this is somewhat unfair, but Thomas Brown stood there on the sidelines with a blank expression on his face. Definitely the "I'm just a position coach not sure why I'm doing this" look. I think we can dispense with any notion that he is a HC solution. Shouldn't even be interviewed for the position after the season is over. I don't care what "coaching tree" he's from.

I can't imagine a highly sought after HC hire would come here either, but being able to say we have a QB now is something the Bears never could have claimed with a straight face before. Caleb does remain a QB with superior skills and they aren't all his ability to scramble. He has challenges too but he's clearly better than say Fields or Trubisky. It's still a terrible situation to be thrust into though. Knowing that you serve under a hamstrung GM being told what to do by proven losers like the McCaskeys is almost career suicide. Even a guy like Ben Johnson has one shot to really show what he can do or his resume is forever tainted, justified or not.

Maybe Warren is the head of the snake that needs to be cut off. If Poles isn’t a trusted GM then the guy who hired him is also questionable.

They’ve been firing in the wrong direction all along. They should start with Poles. Not with Waldron.

They did give up 31 points although 7 can be attributed to a bad INT that put GB deep in their zone. They didn’t play great, but their offense picked them up and especially at the end, the gamble in 4th down was brilliant to keep the defense from having to hold up.

There is no trust. The Bears don’t deserve any kind of benefit of the doubt. After all, we are in this mess because they borked up an obvious decision last offseason and instead kept Flus for god-knows-what misguided reason.

The league wants to protect players. This seems like low hanging fruit. Match up the suspension with the IR stint. The offending player can return when the injured player does.
