  1. LSU is so mediocre. Even if they do manage to pull this out.
  2. So is the rest of the Big Ten unfortunately. All too true. About the only thing that interests me is seeing how good a bowl game NW can get.
  3. It sucks that not one Big 10 team could unseat OSU this year. They are so unimpressive.
  4. That doesn't surprise me, although I didn't see the play.
  5. Yeah, I think this will will likely die quickly too.
  6. Right, but that's Harden. Harden is not Halladay. Take his injury history out of it and there's still no comparison. If I'm Tom Ricketts and this comes across my desk, I'm not dismissing it out of hand just because of the price tag. And as far as the other players, I might be willing to put up with Sam Fuld in CF if it allows me to have Doc Halladay at the top of the rotation. His acquisition alone should lock up the Central Division crown. And if they're in first place come the deadline, players can be gotten for the stretch run. Once you get into the playoffs, other teams are looking at quite the rotation. And, you know, it's been a while since...well, I don't really need to say it, do I? I understand all the arguments against and they're valid, but you've got to at least see this thing through... The Harden thing was just an example. The point is, all indications so far have been that they have much less than 16 million to spend on next season. I don't really think it matters how good he is or how bad Hendry might want him. BTW, I wouldn't say adding Halladay locks up anything. The offense and bullpen would be highly questionable going into next season. Look, if the money's not there to spend then discussion over, but if it's a matter of value and spending wisely, the Doc is worth the money. I couldn't think of a better way to introduce yourself as the new owner of the Cubs than by landing Roy Halladay. Maybe I shouldn't bring this up, but he is 32 and has a ton of innings on that arm. I'd rather look at some of the bigger weaknesses on the team than starting pitching, but obviously I would love to see a player of Halladay's caliber in Cubbie Blue. I do agree it would be a huge splash that would signal the new Ricketts era (certainly more than re-signing Mark DeRosa).
  7. That's quite a statement without knowing who the new guy might be. Are you kidding me? Are you honestly implying we should keep Hendry because the next guy might not be any better? Really? There's been a ton of discussion about Hendry's competence and while he has many faults, the overall consensus is that he's certainly not in the bottom five. I don't think we will have to worry about after this year because he won't be extended if the Cubs don't win the WS. If the Cubs do win the WS, he will be extended and deserves to be. Whew. I was worried there. But now that I know Hendry is not in the bottom 5 GMs, I feel pretty good.
  8. Just depends on how expensive DeRosa would be. It is pretty strange that Dayn would think that re-signing a Tribune-era player would distinguish the Ricketts from the Trib. I would think it would do the exact opposite. Actually, I'm fairly certain it would do the exact opposite.
  9. Just from my own observations, I really think we will miss Wolfe in ST more than @ RB. He's made some pretty good plays this year on kicks.
  10. Yeah, that is pretty bad.
  11. Bah, I missed it. Oh well. Nice job.
  12. LOL. Not that it isn't valid to run screens, but everything Turner says sounds like an excuse to me these days. I'm just ready to move on. Very ready.
  13. Well, so much for my theory about Ronnie Brown being missed. :) Although it was just one game.
  14. I like the Minnesota logo with the Minneapolis and St. Paul guys shaking hands over the Mississippi river. That's sort of cool.
  15. *perks up* Miles off the team? Color me interested in any such scenario.
  16.  yeah, those guys need to go away for a long time. that's pretty shocking. It gets harder and harder for me to bag on Philly fans when I see stories of Bear fans doing something like this. Jesus. Throw away the damn key.
  17. Eh, I think Ricky is a better back anyway, so at least he'll get more carries. Wildcat will need to be adjusted though. Now that he's out for the year, I think there is the potential for a big negative impact to the Dolphins. Not because I don't think they have another running option, but because I think Ronnie was an important part of the wildcat, which was an important part of the Phins scheme on offense.
  18. The full Trib article still says the deals are pending and the full story link on the Chicago Breaking news site is not functional. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/chi-18-blackhawks-chicago-nov18,0,3362152.story Says there are still a few loose ends. I think its pretty safe to say this is done though. The bleacher report is speculating that the Hawks may have to actually determine who is going to be gone before the deals are finalized: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/293231-chicago-blackhawks-contract-update-tag-someones-out
  19. Actually, I kind of care. It's mildly interesting to me that Smith was played very early in his career and is struggling, and Rodgers sat the bench for a couple years and is doing well. I don't think there's one solution to the question of whether you should play your young QB or not. But every time a QB is played early and succeeds, you hear stuff about how that is the way to go. But I don't think that's always the best way, depending on the player. Rodgers sat and learned, and it seems to have benefitted him.
  20. Highly doubtful. But anything can happen, right?
  21. From what I understand he's not having all that great a year though. Admittedly, I prefer knitting to watching the Chiefs play football.
  22. Our defense does match up well against you guys. We should completely shut down the run game and we get good pressure so Rodgers should be hurried a lot. I'm rooting for you.
  23. I think you forgot the link :) http://www.nhlnumbers.com/overview.php?team=CHI&season=0910 oops Thanks! Not a bad site.
  24. Dick Jauron would not be a good recruiter. Did you expect Dave Wannstedt to coach a top 10 team? No. I was thinking the same thing as Cali on Jauron. It's hard for me to imagine Jauron mastering the art of recruiting. Maybe he could find some people who would help out, though.
  25. I think you forgot the link :)
