I still think when you're on the road -- especially a long road trip -- you don't complain about dominating or not dominating. You take any win that you can get, however you can get it.

We're gonna need Huet to get hot at the right time, so I hope he doesn't fall off a cliff or something. It's probably a good time to give Niemi more starts, then see if Huet can rebound.

Do you think it is a foregone conclusion that LeBron is going to take a max contract instead of just getting a really big one and going to a place where he can win (Miami?)? LeBron can win in NY. Not sure if it will be next year, but LeBron in NY = many more opportunities for NY to improve their team.

Looks like most voters thought Wells was the worst. Soriano definitely should be in the discussion, but I'd have to agree.

He's been touted by some as the guy who coaxed one great year out of Anderson in Cleveland. MY roommate is a Brown's fan and when I asked him about him, his answer was, "He's real good." So for what it's worth, one Browns fan endorses the hiring of Chudzinski. They could probably do a lot worse, given the circumstances. At least he has NFL experience, and it is hard to succeed in Cleveland yet he did produce to some degree.

Yeah, looks like one of the groups approved it, but another one doesn't like it. Personally, I think that block of buildings looks pretty ratty and old as it is right now. I wouldn't mind overhauling it.

Yeah, this "Cubs have all but signed him" business is a lot of hooey. He's tossing 90+ MPH; there are more teams than the Cubs who will be in the running, and I really doubt our offer would come in tops dollar-wise. But we'll see. -
Oh, I never said running/defense can't work either. And I still love to watch a team with an aggressive, disruptive defense. In some ways I like to watch that even more than great offense. I just think it offers more potential for longer-term success if you have that top QB in place and you work from there. And in the future, I would expect QBs to be even more protected by additional rules, making it even more attractive to go that route if you can.

It's the number of moving parts that all need to be maintained in top form, and under the cap. That's what makes it hard to stay at that top defensive level for a long time. QBs are protected in this league. Really good ones tend to have long careers. And it's just one player. You juggle the other parts around him, but he keeps you in contention for a long time almost by himself. That's the theory anyway. I agree with it, although I still love to see fantastic defense.

an enlarged heart should leave some kind of evidence on a simple ekg, and can be confirmed on an echo. Not true. For something so potentially serious it's something that's often very easily missed even with an EKG. i have an enlarged heart, and i had a funky rythm that was picked up on an ekg. my doctor knew what to look for, so, i guess it may have to do with the physician or with my individual situation, but if doctors are looking for these types of things, they'll probably find them more times than not--even without super-expensive prcedures. Again, not necessarily, and like you said it had more to do wth your particular situation. Even if a doctor is looking for something specific with an EKG it can still easily go undetected. Enlarged hearts are relatively very common and go missed all the time. I'm not arguing against people being able to be tested along these lines; just that it's far from a surefire bet to be caught. That's true. There are many flavors of the condition and different levels of severity. Not going to be detected in every case. I wonder if maybe Gaines did know about his condition. But didn't share it with anyone. That's always a possibility, too. Medical records are private unless the privacy is waived.

I'd rather not see that #1 offense vs. #1 defense matchup, because I have seen it before. I'd rather see offense on offense this time around, and it looks like a real possibility. Out of the possibilities, I consider the Jets making it to the Super Bowl to be far and away the worst case scenario. As a Bears fan, I don't want to see the Jets make it to the Superbowl since it would just reinforce the archaic "defense and run the football" mentality that the Bears have used since the dawn of time. Jets/Vikings is my worst-of-all-worlds. Colts/Saints would be the most exciting. I'll watch in any case. But I won't watch Mike & Mike for a month if the Jets make it. I can barely handle it right now.

You mean like where it is, or what it would look like when done? Both, so thanks for the drawing and link. That thing looks amazing. I think if done right it could be a great addition. If it's just a bland parking garage with a couple concession stands, it will be lame. But that's all wasted real estate right now anyway. I really like the open air courtyard idea in between the new building and the stadium, too. If they are also able to work out some sort of widening of the main indoor concourse as well, then I think it really could accomplish what they want to do.

I think the Colts can take this, but I'm not underestimating that Jets D again. I hope that will be a good game, lower scoring, with Peyton frustrated and really needing to dig deep for yards. It will be really disappointing to watch if the Colts find a hole or two in that Jets D and rack up points. I don't want to see that. I've seen it a thousand times already -- what I want to see is Manning pushed and challenged. But that Minny/NO game -- looking/hoping for more of a shootout down there in the lowlands. My biggest fear is looking at the Vikings on the road this year. They're pretty much pedestrian, even bad at times, when away from the Metrodome. I'm hoping the fact that the Superdome is very similar to the Metrodome will help equalize that a bit. Looking for two good games, finally, in these playoffs. Colts 20 Jets 13 Saints 34 Vikings 31 Colts/Saints in the Super Bowl. Very good game/matchup, and well worth the hype.

It would've been, hands down, the biggest fight between the two best fighters since the Leonard/Hearns/Hagler/Duran era. The winner goes down as a top 5-10 greatest pound-for-pound of all time. I don't see what's sad about that. You put this fight 30+ years ago and you've got literally half the country following it. I still think this fight happens somehow. Maybe I'm just stubborn. These guys really excite you the way Leonard/Hearns/Hagler did? I'm amazed by that comparison. I'd pay to see those guys in their prime. Pac, yeah. Floyd is pretty boring, technically amazing, and plays a good villain. I mean, they don't excite me like Arturo Gatti and Mickey Ward killing each other or anything but you've got to take their skills and place in history into account as well. I don't know. I've seen them both fight. I'd definitely watch, but not shell out $60 bucks for PPV. Maybe catch the replay. Floyd is to me exactly as you say. Technically really good, but I never get excited by his fights. Pac has put on some great fights, but I can't get to where he's as exciting to me as a Leonard was, for example. And keep in mind that this is now the exact best that boxing could possibly offer. Back in those days there were exciting fighters crawling all over the divisions.
