I doubt some retired QB is going to be mentoring Cutler at this point. A) He's already an established QB, and B) He's already spent time in the system. If Trent Green shows up in July I can't imagine Cutler leaning on him for help learning a system he spent all offseason studying. For the record, I don't like the idea of bringing in a veteran backup. Brad Biggs mentioned something about Green being less of a real threat to Cutler than Bulger would be, so by bringing him in, he's truly just insurance against Cutler getting injured, but in my mind, you're not going anywhere if Cutler is hurt anyway, so might as well get Hanie some experience in that scenario. I don't think many coaches view it as "season over" if their top QB goes down. Even if it really is. I suppose Green could give Jay some system-based pointers when Martz isn't around. That might be of some marginal help. I'm not totally against it, but I can't see why Green would want to do it.
