  1. Is this the first draft you've ever watched? That's the way these things work, that's the way they're supposed to work. The point remains, you said he was "literally nowhere" before his last couple games, and that's completely false. Anyone who follows college football knew who he was and could see his talent when he stepped on the field his freshman year. That kind of arm doesn't go unnoticed. I like how you've changed your point from "completely nowhere" to "not a top-10 pick" by the way. I like how you keep harping on it, even though I explained what I meant. Plenty of QBs have a 10-ton arm, doesn't mean they're the #1 pick. There will be great players drafted on the 2nd day, that's not even the subject of the discussion. Nothing that you just said has anything to do with our discussion at all. He's been a big time prospect for a long time, of course he wasn't the No. 1 pick before the Sugar Bowl, no one was, these things take time to get decided. You're proving complete ignorance here. Define "Big Time Prospect" then.

  3. Well at least someone remembers the past 4-5 months the way I do.
  4. You must not pay much attention to college football, Russell has been on people's radars since his freshman year. Not anywhere near where he went. Not even close to that level. Read what you wrote again, please. You said he was "literally nowhere" until his last couple games, which is completely untrue. I don't even know where you pulled that from, unless you just like playing expert. What you said was completely false. He was nowhere in terms of top 10. If you think he would have gone top 10 without the Sugar Bowl and his workout, you are sorely mistaken. What the hell? He was a top-10 pick before the Sugar Bowl. There's a reason the Sugar Bowl was looked at as a battle to go number one overall before the game (not retroactively). JaMarcus Russell had become a top-10 pick during the regular season. What you're saying is that JaMarcus needed a good workout and a good game to get him where he was...we can say that about EVERY player drafted. Dude, there's just no way. Russell wasn't even CLOSE to a top-10, Big-time prospect before the bowl season. Not one chance in hell. He's a workout pick, there's just no way around that. At all.
  5. Love the Joe Thomas fishing footage.

If you think he would have gone top 10 without the Sugar Bowl and his workout, you are sorely mistaken. So what? No one goes anywhere without a workout. The point is Russell was a bigtime prospect as long ago as his freshman year, not some nobody that popped up the last couple weeks of the season. You keep changing your point, stick to one please. He wasn't anywhere near that level before his last game and workout. Big time prospect? He wasn't close until 4 months ago. Plenty of players are drafted high without a special workout. You're simply wrong about that.
  7. I *think* GB will take Quinn. Especially now that Lynch is gone. IMO, Buffalo's wrong about Losman...

  9. It's amazingly horrible in the context that Quinn should have been the pick. I think it's more than that. Ginn's got great skills, true, but he's still in need of development as a wide receiver. He will be dynamite as a kick returner. But consider that the Bears got a game-changer in that role in the 2nd round. The Dolphins will have to pay top-10 money for it. It's horrible value. Not saying Ginn won't work out, though. He's a skilled athlete and could be great.

  11. He definitely ranks up there behind Leinart dropping to #10 last year. You guys do realize that Marques Colston was drafted last year, right? So what? We're talking about draft value. Colston never had the potential to make $40 million guaranteed like Quinn would have. Whoever picks Quinn now will literally be saving millions on top of millions of dollars.
  12. Oh, and with deference to vance, Russell became the #1 pick on the basis of a workout. How'd that work out for Kyle Boller? I think Quinn's the best QB in this draft. I don't care what kind of arm strength Russell has or how he looked in his personal workout in shorts and a t-shirt. Big deal. Nobody even knew who that guy was until the bowl season his last year in college. He's been a shooting star, but that's only because he was literally nowhere until his last couple games. The Raiders couldn't deveop a QB to save their lives anyway. Quinn will most certainly be the more successful NFL QB.
  13. Buffalo takes Lynch while the Packers take Quinn, trade for Turner and Moss. Boy would I be in a great mood if all of that happened. It's all falling the Packers' way. The only thing that didn't work out is their primary trade partner for Rodgers took Russell. I wouldn't be suprised if they just let Rodgers rot on the 3rd string until his contract is up, then just dump him. If I'm the Packers, I take Quinn before 5 seconds come off that clock.
  14. Quinn: If I'm Buffalo, I take him. Losman's still real iffy. I can almost guarantee the Packers will take Quinn if he's there. They hate Rodgers and have been looking to unload him all offseason. I may not think Quinn's the greatest QB prospect ever, but right now he ranks as one of the great values in draft history. Oh, and Miami are idiots. Somehow, I know that fool Terry Shea was behind them passing on Quinn. The man has no clue about QB talent---he's the guy who convinced Angelo Jonathan Quinn should be the Bears backup QB. How'd that work out??? Idiotic pick.
  15. Go play in the street or something. He's allowed to have an opinion, no matter how baseless it may be.. Baseless? I don't need court documents to know that Sammy's physical development required something more than a normal workout routine. I think you'll also see a transformation in his body from 2005 to 2007. Strange how a seemingly washed-up player goes away for a year and comes back bigger and hitting home runs again. Hmmm, I wonder... But don't ask Sammy about it, he can only speak English when he's praising himself. LOL, yeah right. Are you for real?
  16. Of all the ESPN analysts, I have grown to trust Clayton the most. FWIW.
  17. That was the most important road win for the Bulls since the Jordan era. Now it's over. There's no way the Heat win 4 in a row, including 2 in Chicago. Not one chance in hell. Deng's incredible. This is his time to ascend to all-star status. People underestimate him because they think he's too tall & lanky to be really athletic. He defies explanation---he's incredibly versatile. If his game is on, I don't see how anyone can really stop him. Just a great night for the Bulls.
  18. Just an opinion, but I don't think we'd miss Briggs that much with Landry back there. Wow, he's friggin special. We'd lose a pretty good linebacker but gain a godly headhunter.
  19. I think it would be tough for Angelo to make the original deal considering he already rejected it. If he can convince Snyder to throw in Mcintosh that would be ideal. It really all depends if he thinks Briggs is bluffing or not. I really believe that during the recent meeting between Briggs and Angelo, Jerry promised to continue to listen to trade offers and so I think he will do so. But I think it's important to remember that, according to league rules, Briggs is supposed to be "worth" 2 1st round picks straight up. I believe Jerry has that in the back of his mind --- a straight-up swap of 1st rounders, while it might be the best we can get, is way less than what the franchise rules say we should get. Two things with this argument: 1)The franchise rules were designed to protect the absolute best of the best. It makes sense-design the rules so that teams can get fair compensation if another team signs the very best free agent, and then teams can bargain down from there through trades for less than the best of the best. There are a lot of questions about if Briggs is great (many people think he's just very good) but even if the point is conceded that he's great, I don't think anybody would put him in the category of the top 3 or 4 players in the game, and those are the players who two first rounders are supposed to be fair compensation for. 2) Taking some draft economics, the Redskins offer is just about equal to two first round picks. One of the teams that has been very interested in Briggs is the Patriots. So what are the differences between this Redskins trade and the Patriots just out and out signing him? Redskins 6 pick (1600 points)-Bears 31 pick=1000 points. Patriots 24 pick (740) plus Patriots 60 pick (a first rounder next year is equal to a second rounder this year=300)=1040. There's not much difference, and the Redskins offer would have actually been better than the Patriots signing Briggs if the Patriots hadn't received a higher first rounder from Seattle this year that they would have to give up. Understood. Personally, I think Jerry's close to pulling the trigger on the Washington deal but just wants a little extra sweetener, which I understand (from a draft pick perspective) the Skins might simply not have. I wonder if he would consider a mid-rounder *next* year, and then do the deal...
  20. If the ultimate goal is to trade down, I would bet that it does. Which means I'll be watching for at least the first 10 picks, since it looks like 2 of the most prominent trade possibilities involve the 6 and the 9. Who am I kidding though? I'm watching anyway 8-) It's just that the weather's going to be great tomorrow. Want to get some Sun.

  22. Kinda sucks that I will need to keep an eye on this thing for the entire 1st round, because the Bears might pop a trade at any time. The 1st round will probably take 4-5 hours. I've got chores to do this weekend ;)
  23. Considering Hockey is now little more than professional lacrosse on ice, I'd say bad baseball publicity is still a better way to go. At least his name is still out there, and known.
  24. I really wonder what they would do with that pick. Quinn won't be there...he's gonna go to Cleveland. It's probably too high to get Landry. I don't see us taking another running back in Petersen... Levi Brown? Just a shot in the dark, I really have no clue.
  25. The majority of tools that operate on predicting wins work off of Runs scored for the season. I think all folks are saying is that, extrapolated across the season, you'd expect the Cubs to win more games on the current Runs trend. Except that the way the Cubs have scored those runs, you shouldn't expect that. You would only expect the Cubs to win more games if they hold the same rpg output while more consistently hitting that average in a greater percentage of games.
