This is probably the sexiest of all picks the Bears could make here. Let's see how it works out. I will say it's not a typical Angelo move, so he's out of his "comfort zone" with this one.

Just doesn't seem like a Bear TE - doesn't block too well. Great athlete, nice hands, good receiver as a TE and would be a good target for Grossman. Notions of what the Bears do on offense are going to change.

Ack! This is setting up to be very disappointing for Bear fans. Angelo says he won't take TEs in the first round, and the whole world is going to be saying Olsen is the clear pick.

Well he did do something.....he lost millions of dollars. Not only that, he still gets stuck with a crappy team. LOL, yeah that's true. He'll have his work cut out for him that's for sure. Players on truly bad teams not only have to play well, they almost have to develop themselves.

My God someone tell Kornheiser and Jaws to lay off the ass-kissing a little. Quinn was "put to the test" today and really handled it well! Quinn "won the day" today. He sat around for a few hours while a ton of other guys were picked. He did nothing.

Getting a top QB and a top OLT in one draft is very, very nice work though. I think it works out for Dallas too.

Looks like CLE traded and will take Quinn.

I'd do it for a 2nd this year and 1st next year, the third doesn't get me nearly as excited. Don't want to upset any Browns fans, but I'll bet that 1st round pick next year will be top 10.

I agree that they wouldn't trade up for him. Could Quinn slip to the 2nd round? Wow. We could really use a great TE, I know Jerry doesn't like taking TEs this high. I'd take Olsen if he was there.

Just throwing it out there: if Olsen were still there @31, don't you simply have to take him if you're Angelo?

They probably should be. Is it just me, or does it seem every year some highly regarded Michigan players drop down on draft day?

Here's the problem - and the thing IMB! has been harking on for a while now and you just touched on it - it's too early before January. JMR was definitely on the scouts' radars and didn't come from nowhere. By the time the Sugar Bowl had come around, he had definitely become a first round pick...he was still below Quinn, but it wasn't a surprise that he was there. In terms of a "big time prospect" (pretty tough to define), I think a potential first rounder with the skill set of JMR has to be considered a big time prospect because those skills can easily help him move up a lot. I understand. To me a 'big time' prospect is like porn----I can't define it for you, but I know it when I see it. I look at a guy like Vick. Manning. Bush. I see a 'big time' prospect. I look at Russell, I don't. You're using a much wider perspective.

not really. I think his point was the packers need more help on O then they do on D, not jsut making favre happy.. Do they though? I thought they were ranked #9 on O. well, look who they lost....Green and Henderson and Walker I suppose. Do you think Green was really all that valuable still? I think Walker was gone most/all of last year so they made #9 without him. Henderson----he was good but replaceable, IMO. I'm not totally disagreeing with the pick. They'll have 2 good DTs if he works out.

You aren't following. I'm saying they knew of his as a big-time draft prospect. Which you apparently didn't. How can you exaggerate and use the word literally in a sentence. Think about that for a minute. Quinn being No. 1 before the draft proves that pre-work out draft boards are meaningless. Because Russell wasn't on them at some arbitrary point during the season doesn't mean that scouts were sleeping on him and he just skyrocketed out of nowhere. Exactly. Soul, I can't believe you compared Navarre to JMR. I made the comparison because IMB based his big-time status on those physical attributes. So what? Make a better argument next time for why Russell's a big-time prospect. Russell has done a whole lot more on the field, against much tougher opponents. JMR was on scouts' radars before this season - he was earmarked as a likely first rounder all season. Oh, and for the record, I think Quinn will have a better NFL career and I would have taken Calvin Johnson with the first pick overall. But, JMR didn't just come out of nowhere because of the Sugar Bowl (and he didn't need the workouts to become the top overall pick as you said earlier). Alright. That's why I asked for a definition of big time prospect. To me, players drafted late in the 1st round are generally not big time prospects. And BTW, there's always many more than 32 players who are considered "1st round picks" each year by someone or another. So that just doesn't have a lot of meaning for me.

No kidding. Of course Young wants Favre to get his way, duh. The Packers need to think about more than what Favre wants. Favre is not the future of that football team.

I'm not so sure about that. I would have gone Quinn though, but maybe Ted's got something else in mind. They certainly know Favre's not playing forever, and Rodgers is unlikely to be the answer.
