  1. did he say poetic justice for what? Maybe all the lucky breaks the Cubs have been getting for the last 99 years? It's apparently poetic justice for Cappy, who should be given a win. apparently.
  2. hahaha Claudio vargas in to pitch? wow, the brewers really are going all out. of course im sure they can see the scoreboard so they know they have to. They had Sheets up even. They need to spend every last bullet in their gun to get this win. Of course -- it's only Friday, how many of these bullets will they need on Saturday and Sunday even if they do win?
  3. LOL, the Crew play by play tard was trying to suggest Froemming's bad call was poetic justice??
  4. Maybe the worst I have ever seen on a call of that type. Not even remotely close. Wow. Only Froemming. Sorry fatass Froemming, SD gets the DP anyway. Retire you loser.
  5. Maddog just got ripped. That was strike 3.
  6. L. M. [expletive] A. O.
  7. It can indeed, however they would need to have a lead first of course. With Maddog in there I fear it's just going to be troublesome to keep the Crew from scoring.
  8. I knew it wasn't a joke with Trax. Thanks for setting the record straight Bruce. I'm simply having difficulty comprehending why Lou is keeping this guy around. He's poison. And he hasn't an ounce of talent left. He's dragging this team down. I can only pray the other players are smart enough to ignore him.
  9. Please Cubs. My heart can't take much more of this crap. You've turned me into a girlie man, don't turn me into a corpse.
  10. I dunno, I think I'm gonna just play some video games or something tonight. I'm not doing too well emotionally with this club. They're killing me.
  11. Oh to heck with it. Musical Chairs it is 8-)
  12. Ok guys, I'm sick of seeing "Marlins." I would prefer not to have to see or think of "Marlins" until next April. Can we kindly let this thread sink into oblivion?
  13. Rieu, screw you! Keith Law, screw you more! Well, I mean hey -- they've got a point. Even though the Cards didn't deserve it last year and became champions. However, I would point out that none of these other NL contenders are really screaming "great team" to me either. The entire NL is pretty flawed when you think of it. Actually, when you really think of it -- there's no truly great powerhouse team in all of baseball, not even in the AL. Some of the great teams of yore would probably just rape every team in the league right now, even the Yanks and BoSox.
  14. Yeah, I heard the same thing. Jesse Rogers said Trachsel was just giving the reporters a hard time and was laughing when he did it. He said he also asked them if they had a deadline or something to worry about. He said it was pretty clear to him that Trachsel was playing around with them and he was surprised at the reaction to it. Trachsel bought off the Score guy. That's how he rolls. He drinks too. And skins cats.
  15. You'd swing at a patented 85 mph Trachsel-meatball grooved down the middle, too. that's lame. you'd swing at a 91 mph, flat, straight, Scott Olsen grooved fastball as well. same can be said of a pitch from Whatever Barone. not a single first pitch swing by the Marlins against Trachsel resulted in a man getting on base. the constant attempts to compartmentalize every bad inning and every loss into a function of whatever one thinks is the Cubs major weakness is far more annoying than the imaginary 'excuse making' the Cubs and their broadcasters allegedly engage in. if Marquis and Trachsel are blamed for their losses, why isn't Lilly and Marmol equally to blame? if first pitch swinging is the problem, why did the Marlins have three straight victories? if patience is the problem, why did the Cubs lose all three games when they saw far more pitches in each game of the series? if Kendall is to blame when he hits two rockets for outs with men on base, why isn't Soto to blame for a couple horrible ABs this series with men on base? for the most part this series was equally played. the Marlins have a strong offense and a strong bullpen. the key to the series was the Marlins got virtually all the breaks, ie bloop hits or the lack thereof, line drives right at em, long flies that are HRs in any other park, bounces off the rubberized track, borderline/bad calls all going against the Cubs, etc etc. it all comes out looking like the Cubs played horribly, and while they didn't play as well as they are capable of, it certainly wasn't only a couple of players or a lack of whatever philosophical approach we may wish the Cubs had. Well, if you want to know what the bottom line problem is, it's that we aren't all that great a baseball team.
  16. Yeah, that's pretty much it.
  17. He must have hated Sosa with a passion, LOL. I only hope the rest of the guys on this team are just rolling their eyes at him and going about their business. well, I REALLY hope they arent look at him as a mentor.... He's grandpa, ya know? I hope they look at him like the senile old man rather than the sage source of wisdom. Then again, how do you think they view Lou?? Hehe...
  18. Agree 100% That and he's stunk to high heaven in the 2nd half. He gives us nothing. Monroe provides more value, and some people don't want him around.
  19. He must have hated Sosa with a passion, LOL. I only hope the rest of the guys on this team are just rolling their eyes at him and going about their business.
  20. ONLY if the Phillies end up winning the East, and Mets end up missing out on the playoffs. It doesn't look good right now. Really, the Marlins have got to be considered a really tough matchup for that collapsed Mets pitching staff. I'm not sure how much home field advantage the Mets get, either. But -- you never know. What happens to a team after they played tight enough to blow the biggest lead ever? Do they finally calm down and play baseball? When your nerves finally explode and you lose it once and for all -- do you finally just relax, do you finally just get tired of being freaked out? Mets will find out. Actually, this is going to be one of the more exciting weekends of baseball in recent memory.
  21. Really? I think it's a sure bet he'd implode. I agree though, it probably would happen to Hill too unfortunately. As for pulling him for Marshall/Hart -- I think the question is when would that happen, before he gives up the 3 run homer or after? Because this week the change didn't come until it was too late.
  22. Hooray for veterans who snap under pressure more than the young guys do. Nice pickup, Jimbo  I only hope he hasn't doomed the entire team. It's pretty clear they played tight as hell against the Marlins. Lou's trying to relax them, and here comes Trax to blow up any gains he might have made. It's incredible.
  23. Lou loved his work in last year's postseason though. It all depends on whether Lou thinks he's seen enough. He keeps putting him out there which tells you Lou thinks Monroe is ready to help. In short, the grit is about to kick in.
  24. ??? Why not show the Cubs game?? only 1 team fighting for playoffs instead of 2. Exactly. I don't want the Cubs on there anyway.
  25. I saw a post somewhere else on NSBB saying that Phillips is only expected to play one game in the series (either today or Sunday). I hope its true. I'll see if I can find it again. As for Keppinger and Hopper, if someone can tell me where they live I can take some of my "associates" up and see to it that they are "otherwise detained" during the games. Hopefully it becomes easier to deal with Keppinger and Hopper when you know you don't have Griffey & Dunn to deal with afterwards. Every team has a couple good hitters anyway. Even the worst ones. There's really no excuse for not winning these ballgames. Inconceivable! Agree 100%. If Keppinger and Hopper can beat us then we never stood a chance. Here's what I see: if we can't beat this group of highly-watered-down Reds with Z on the mound, and the Crew wins?? Oh boy -- you're gonna see this thing ignite on Saturday & Sunday like you can't believe. If you think the loss of confidence is pronounced now, wait until you see it after losing to a AAA team with your ace.
