  1. Good opening drive for the Titans. A TD would have been nice, but we ate 6 minutes and got a field goal. Come on defense.
  2. Look at Tennessee's record. People are saying they have a defense as good as the 2000 Ravens' defense and the best team they've played is a very mediocre Vikings team. I do think they're good, but they haven't played anyone yet. The next few weeks for the Titans should be interesting. The talk about this defense being as good as the Ravens of 2000 (perhaps the best ever) started when Trent Dilfer said he thought it was. He, of course, was the quarterback of that 2000 Ravens team. I think Collins has commented on this Titan D being as good too, but he's obviously biased a bit. That said, this next few weeks really help to show what the Titans really are. I don't think they're 5-0 good, but I think they're only a slight step down from the true talent of the Pats, Colts and Chargers. With Tom Brady out, Norv Turner coaching SD and the Colts missing their offensive line, we very well could be the best team in the AFC right now.
  3. He's a decent QB when healthy, but he's just not healthy enough consistently enough for a multi-year deal. I wonder if this would help Dwayne Bowe. If Culpepper can stay healthy, I think it would. If it's for low money, I'd do it. At the very least he could be your backup if someone else gets hurt. It would have to be a reasonably low contract though. If the Chiefs can work out a cheap multi-year deal, I rescind that this is a dumb move. If it's like most multi-year deals and is in the multi-million dollar range, though, it's a dumb move. He's certainly talented and productive, but only when healthy - and that's not often enough.
  4. LSU is way too high. I think they are about where they should be. The two teams that beat them are pretty solid. I don't think LSU is very good this year, but I don't think there are too many teams behind them that could beat them. The two teams they've lost to are quality, but the LSU defense has allowed more than 100 points combined to those teams and the entire Tiger team has looked pitiful in both. They also struggled with a bad Mississppi State team (that Tennessee of all teams pounded 34-3) and squeaked out a win over a bad Auburn team. They are not a top 15 team - I'm not sure they're a top 25 team until proven otherwise.
  5. I thought this before the season. The Texans have tended to be a tough team to read, though, so I could very well be wrong.
  6. I don't think Vinny Testaverde has made his annual comeback yet. Ya'll could bring him in.
  7. Yeah, they put good drives together, but they haven't been finishing them off lately. Then again, the Broncos can't stop anyone. I think we're going to put up a bunch of points on them. Unfortunately, our pass defense blows and throwing the ball is the Broncos strength. Brandon Marshall is a lock for 150+ yards and at least one TD. Should be a fun game to watch. If we get back to .500, then we're right back in contention. Our (out of division) schedule after the Broncos is ridiculously easy. We really shouldn't lose any of those 5 games (Seahawks, Raiders, Rams, Niners, Chiefs). I knew Houston was not 0-4 bad, but I feel better about that loss seeing them at 3-4 now. Still, it's painful knowing the Dolphins were a desparation Favre heave and a QB sneak away from being 5-2. (Then again, The Texans can say the same thing.) The fact that they were ever 0-4 is what shocked me. The Texans have got some talent, I think the hurricane coming through might have impacted their season at the start, though. It threw off some practices and forced them to cancel a game - it might have been enough of a distraction to hurt them early in the year, but I'd say they're getting back on track now.
  8. There's really only two things I'm hoping for from the Vols the rest of the year. #1 - DO NOT lose to Steve Spurrier. However we do it, we need desperately to beat that man. #2 - Beat Vandy and Kentucky. I don't dislike either, but I won't hear the end of it if we lose to the Commodores, and I'd like to see the streak (close to 20 years, I believe) of beating Kentucky alive. Otherwise, the Vols can do their worst. With this horribly anemic offense and the strong possibility of two of the past four years under .500, if this season costs Fulmer his job, it's probably deserved.
  9. He's a decent QB when healthy, but he's just not healthy enough consistently enough for a multi-year deal. I wonder if this would help Dwayne Bowe. If Culpepper can stay healthy, I think it would.
  10. He's a decent QB when healthy, but he's just not healthy enough consistently enough for a multi-year deal. I don't think its a bad idea at all. His post Minny years were doomed for failure, and he actually played decent considering how terrible his teams were. With Tyler Thigpen not looking half terrible, Culpepper would be a much better option as a starter with Thigpen waiting in the wings. On a one year deal, absolutely a good idea. On a multi-year deal? Bad idea, I think.
  11. As if the Chiefs weren't bad enough, they may be about to make a dumb decision to make them worse. Fox Sports is reporting that the Chiefs are considering offering a multi-year deal to Daunte Culpepper. He's a decent QB when healthy, but he's just not healthy enough consistently enough for a multi-year deal.
  12. the world series Screw it.
  13. That WAS all kind of awesome. paraphrase "i told him to go take and shower and then come back and be on the sidelines, hed be a better help to the team doing that" Truly awesome. you don't #$%^ with Mike Singletary. I wouldn't want to. He scares me.
  14. That WAS all kind of awesome. paraphrase "i told him to go take and shower and then come back and be on the sidelines, hed be a better help to the team doing that" Truly awesome.
  15. What did Vernon Davis do? Singletary sent him to the showers early for getting a penalty for slapping a Seahawk in the head after a play.
  16. I love Mike Singletary. He completely went off on Vernon Davis in the press conference. Awesome.
  17. as an eagles fan during the rich kotite years, i feel the pain of fans of talented teams being sabotaged by inept coaching. Just so nobody forgets, SD's GM AJ Smith fired Marty Schottenheimer to hire Norv Turner. I don't see how this isn't ultimately Smith's fault.
  18. What team is he on now? Chiefs
  19. You're probably right.
  20. LSU is way too high.
  21. This one has gotten out of hand.
  22. Good point. :D
  23. Don't start this crap, the refs miss call after call after call against Tennessee (two PI and an OFFSIDES) in the first half. IMO this is the refs evening up the score. It was a good call on the fumble. We haven't gotten a lot of breaks either, though. The PI at the end of the half was assinine.
  24. Just goes to show you how bad the ACC is. Dukie did beat Vandy! and UVA! its not impossible for Duke to be bowl-eligible. They are 4-3 with an OK schedule left. @ Wake, vs. NC State, at Clemson, at Virginia Tech, vs. UNC. I think they'll beat State, and they can sneak one of the other games out. When was Duke's last bowl game? Spurrier's regime? yea I miss Cutcliffe. i have a bad feeling that I will be missing him in a few years, too. While it wouldn't shock me, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he stayed for good. He's not a young up and comer and while at Tennessee he talked about how he would only leave for a job in the southeast that he felt was a good spot. Don't want to get your hopes up too much, but he might just stay until he retires - or ya'll kick him out.
  25. Offense does something positive, we get a penalty. Almost every time. :banghead:
