  1. Character issues and not a lot of need at TE is hurting him right now, I think. I like him and Jared Cook a decent amount, though. I like both of those guys too. I just don't need a TE in round 2 and Pettigrew's at the top of my board. I was looking at TEs until the Titans franchised Bo Scaife. Now, unless I can get a steal I'm not investing a pick in a fourth TE, certainly behind Alge Crumpler and Scaife.

  3. You think? I like Moreno, McCoy, then Beanie in that order. All are pretty close though. That's kind of how I am. And there really is little separation between the three for me as well.
  4. Since we're right on the edge of advancing rounds, I've listed the second round order of selection in the first post of this thread. As soon as we completely finish the first round, I'll put it in spoiler tags so the post won't be so long. I'll probably repeat that process for each round we complete.
  5. Is that the official pick, or do you want to wait for CFNBM to chime in before making it official?
  6. Trust me, it was tempting. :-)) I had the power to do it.
  7. All through the offseason with the Titans, I've heralded the need for wide receivers. That need still exists, though the addition of Nate Washington eased it quite a bit. Also, the only sure thing 1st round WRs, in my opinion, in the draft are off the board and it'd be too much of a reach at this point to grab one. I've also looked at corners to replace Nick Harper next year (my preferences of DJ Moore and Darius Butler are gone, however). So, I've decided to reach a bit at another position. While this is admittedly a bit too early to take this player, I don't have the capability to trade down and I think DL coach Jim Washburn could do well working with this player. He's big and athletic and a hard worker from all accounts, leading me to believe he has a solid amount of upside. He'll also help to ease the loss a bit of Albert Haynesworth as he works more into the DT rotation. So, with the 30th pick in the draft, the Tennessee Titans select DT from Missouri, Evander "Ziggy" Hood. The Arizona Cardinals - and Flames and CubFanNotBudMan - are now on the clock. I will PM them.
  8. I still haven't heard anything from Skyballer, so I guess I'll go ahead with the pick before time runs out. The Giants don't have many needs, but could use depth at a few spots. They also might need a top-line WR if Plax ends up going to jail. The receiving corps is currently deep, but not very top heavy. If Plax misses the season, the #1 receiver for the Giants will be either Domenik Hixson or Amani Toomer. That said, there's not a standout receiver left on the board and there's still a decent chance that Plax will return. So, the Giants choose to fill their only other need. The linebacking corps is solid, but one outside spot is currently held by Danny Clark and could stand to be upgraded. So, with the 29th pick in the draft, the Giants select OLB from USC, Clay Matthews. I thought strongly about Laurinaitis, but Matthews is a more natural OLB and Laurinaitis would have to play out of position if he were the pick.
  9. The thinking is that Al Davis is a crazy old man who doesn't use logic all that often. He loves the downfield passing game and the team badly needs receivers. The idea of JaMarcus Russell chucking bombs downfield to TO has to be getting Davis excited.
  10. One of the longterm recruiting sagas has come to an end. Running back David Oku has apparently signed with Tennessee. Even with the issues he seems to be having/had, I like this. Oku's very talented.
  11. The Eagles have traded Greg Lewis and an undisclosed draft pick to the Patriots for a fifth rounder this year. I'd have to think that undisclosed pick will be a seventh rounder. The Patriots also signed Shawn Springs.
  12. This seems like really weird reasoning. He was a rookie QB who was unimpressive, but hardly incompetent. He got beat out by a potential Hall of Fame QB. He's not going to get a chance to earn any of his incentives, and he's not going to get a chance to earn a big free agent contract when this one ends. He can be cut at anytime. If he asks to be traded and another GM holds that against him and tries to equate it to being a malcontent, well, that's an unreasonable person. The fact that the Cardinals spent so much to retain Warner, given that they have a former first round pick already there, makes me wonder if Leinart's gotten any better. He wasn't very good in his rookie year, was worse in limited action his second year and apparently hasn't improved enough to keep the Cardinals from paying $25 million to a 37-year-old QB. I just don't like a player with that resume demanding to be traded. Now I tend to prefer players not demanding trades, so that may be clouding me a bit here. I don't think it's that unreasonable to be concerned, though.
  13. Would the other teams do it though? Right now he's an apparent busted pick who can't get off the bench against a (granted, very talented) 40-year-old QB. If he starts pitching a fit because he's not earning a chance, would other teams jump at acquiring a malcontent apparent busted pick who can't get off the bench against a (granted, very talented) 40-year-old QB? I really doubt they'd give an early pick. I realize he's stuck on the bench now, but I think the chances are high that he would piss off more teams than he would entice by whining now. Warner's earned his starting jobs, but Leinart hasn't played particularly well. I doubt teams would be turned off by a QB in his situation asking for a trade. You can ask for that trade without being a complete malcontent. He's in a bad situation, because he's going to hit free agency without any playing time under his belt. Playing the good guy isn't going to drive up his eventual price, the only way he can do that is by playing right now. You may be right that teams won't be bothered by it, but I'm not convinced. He does nothing but deserve to sit on a bench the first two years of his career and then he asks for a trade because he hasn't been good enough to beat out the current QB. That just doesn't sound like a QB I'd want to give more than a late round pick for. It's a luxury they can afford, though. I'd say they'll get motivated to trade him either when they decide he's a complete bust or they need the cap room for some other upgrade. The fact that they're not looking to deal him tells me they're comfortable with their cap situation for now. Of course, if the Vikings came at them offering Jared Allen, first and second pick this year and a first next year, I'd be pretty certain they'd take it. Until an over the top offer comes, though, I doubt they'll get motivated to trade him (save again for the potential necessity of needing the cap room).
  14. Is he a Giants fan? How did that happen? Just make the pick. He wanted the Giants. I'll give him more time since it really hasn't been that long since Truffle made his pick. I'm just bored at work right now.
  15. When does high school let out in Colorado? I'm getting impatient waiting on Skyballer.
  16. I doubt the Ravens and Jags will shell out the money. The Broncos might, but the clear favorite, in my opinion, is the easy fallback option - Oakland. Oakland's QB situation isn't all that great either. I could see TO becoming very frustrated with Russell, very quickly. If nothing else, Russell could chuck bombs downfield to TO. Their offense would probably be more productive that way than they were last year. :-)) I agree, though, TO would only get frustrated there, but I don't think that'll stop Al Davis.
  17. Here's the blurb from Rotoworld.

  19. Well, my fearless leader isn't about at the moment and being the second-in-command I can't make the pick without him (yet). I've PMd him, however, and my thoughts are to go with a LB of some sort - probably either Clay Matthews or James Laurinaitis (and move him outside). The Giants don't have many weaknesses, but Danny Clark's OLB spot is probably as close as they get.
  20. It's pure speculation, but I found this humorous in John Clayton's blog about TO's release: I feel so sorry for soccer10k.
  21. Don't forget Marvin Harrison. Holt, Edwards, TO, Coles, Harrison and Housh are a very strong FA WR class.
  22. I almost wish I had given us the ability to trade up and down. I'd like to trade down here, myself.
  23. Alright, this is getting silly. Almost my entire board has been trashed right now in just the past 3-4 picks. I'm going to make a crazy pick here pretty soon if my final player falls. I PM'd CCP for the Colts war room.
  24. If Al Davis were a little more young and spry, he might have already announced the signing. The only question is, five years/$100 million or six years/$100 million? Depends on which one has more guaranteed money. Well obviously the entire $100 million would be guaranteed. Al will need to make sure he fights off the hordes of teams desiring TO.
