  1. While I'm not sold that we should go after a free agent reliever, if we're determined to do it, Rafael Soriano would probably be one of the better options to go after.
  2. You may mean in the minds of the Heisman voters, but keep in mind they often award it to the wrong player. Bush earned his, but just because a player is awarded the Heisman doesn't mean he should have (see Mark Ingram/Ndamukong Suh).
  3. Yeah, the stretch is saying possibly one of the best in the NFC. If he stays healthy all year and some players step up, it's possible. I don't know that he'll be better than Rodgers, Favre, Romo, McNabb, Ryan and Cutler. Stafford and Kolb have a chance to be better than a healthy Hasselbeck as well.
  4. The Titans know how to keep him happy and productive. It's a pain, but he's hands-down the best DT in the game when he's playing well.
  5. Tennessee will probably get smoked by Oregon. The only real question is by how much. I'd like to see a competitive game until halftime or so, though.
  6. Titans and Redskins talking Albert Haynesworth again. And the merry go round spins some more . . . I still want Albert back in Nashville, though.
  7. The Titans waived LeGarrette Blount hoping he'd clear waivers so they could put him on the practice squad. Not surprisingly, he did not clear waivers. The Bucs picked him up. On the good side, however, the Titans also picked up linebacker and very good special teams player Tim Shaw. That was a good move.
  8. Yeah, I saw all the missed tackles and penalties. That's a little weird because Kiffin's Vols last year seemed quite fundamentally sound. We didn't do many great things, but the fundamentals were there for the most part. And that team had practically no depth at all either.
  9. You may well be right soccer. I'm not predicting anything for this Titans team until I see them for a couple of weeks. I have no idea what they're going to do this year - except that CJ is going to be ridiculously good. Just don't let CJ get 350+ carries. You've got Ringer and Blount, make good use of them.
  10. And a nice showing by MTSU, I think. They lost, but they took a Big 10 team down to the wire without their best quarterback/player. Not bad for a Sun Belt team.
  11. Lane going for two nearly every time and showing such weird formations on the conversion/PAT attempts was really strange. I'm not exactly sure what he was going for with those. And Spongeworthy, I don't know how it'll work at USC, but Monte's defense at Tennessee was sketchy against the spread type offenses but completely shut down the pro-style offenses. Hawaii fits the mold of an offense his defense struggles with.
  12. Hopefully MTSU gets Dasher back sooner rather than later (if at all), though. With him, they could be competitive with a lot of SEC teams.
  13. Not with Dasher out. That really hurts. It depends on what they have in Kilgore, though. He had pretty impressive numbers in the JUCO last year. I like Stockstill quite a bit too and I think he'll have a good gameplan together even without Dasher.
  14. Yeah, without the NTC, Shark's playing football right now most likely. No matter how much you like a drafted prospect, though, I'm not sure I'm ever in favor of giving that kid an NTC. Unless he's Mark Prior or Strasburg or somebody like that.
  15. i thought about going to this but then i remembered that murfreesboro sucks. I've heard the campus kinda sucks, but the town isn't terrible. Never been to the stadium, have you? watched a high school game there a few years back...the town itself is okay i guess. One of the teams I cover had a realistic shot to make it to Murfreesboro for the state championship game. Then they got plastered in the third round by Oneida. That's the closest I've ever come to going to that stadium.

  17. I'll agree that the NTC wasn't a good idea, but does Shark really have much (if any) more value right now than a guy like Mitch Adkins or JR Mathes? He's much younger than Mathes, but the same age (or close) as Adkins and much, much more expensive. I doubt either of them would get anything as a throw-in for a trade. I do agree that he'd likely have much more value if they hadn't yoyo'd him, though.
  18. I'm really looking forward to Minnesota/MTSU. I think MTSU has a real chance at an upset playing in Murfreesboro.
  19. I can't see any team giving anything of any value for Shark. They'd take him for a PTBNL, but I can't imagine any more than that. And I think a team out there looking to make a splash might take Soriano and his contract if we gave him away for nothing – not likely, but possible. We could definitely trade Soriano if we took back another bad contract (Vernon Wells, for instance). So both are tradeable, but not in trades that would help the Cubs.
  20. Southern Miss/South Carolina could be a pretty good game. DeAndre Brown is always fun to watch. He should be a top draft pick this year. He is really, really good. C-USA defenses are going to have issues covering him this year.
  21. South Carolina definitely can be a pretty boringly bad team, but them playing Southern Miss should be competitive, at least.
  22. The part that's in common with Soriano is that I don't think, at this point, that either Shark or Soriano would be tradeable assets without the NTC. Why they're not tradeable is different, but the fact that they aren't tradeable is similar.
  23. The Samardzija one, maybe. Had they let him work up the minors instead of yoyoing him between the major league pen and minor league rotation, he could have been a fairly valuable trade chip by now. I think Shark is kind of in with Soriano as far as his NTC goes, with the way they handled him the NTC is irrelevant because nobody will want him. Had they handled him better, they may not have any interest in trading him.
  24. Where do I sign? Right after the clause stating that "Player may reject a trade to any other organization in MLB" At 3/$36 I'd take him even with the NTC. No doubt.
  25. Southern Miss/South Carolina could be a pretty good game.
