  1. I'll be honest . . . I like that. Kinda looks like somebody bled all over the field.
  2. The Titans/Ravens playoff game atmosphere from a couple years ago was pretty fantastic – comparable to a UT football game I believe I said at the time – but generally the pro atmosphere is nowhere near as good as the college atmosphere.
  3. Except for the fact that most people prefer watching on TV. Not to mention that the bad seats in many NFL stadiums will cost you over $100 a ticket. I don't believe this. Tickets for Sunday's Titans/Steelers game in Nashville are going largely for $100+. You can get into the stadium for as little as $65, but there really aren't that many available for less than $100. Many 300 level seats do go for $100 or more in Nashville.
  4. I saw most of the second half and Cincy looked bad.
  5. I could see a team considering him a bit more highly with the thought that he'll still be young enough after this contract to sign one more. Now that the next contract is not happening (or may not), that could hurt his trade value. As I've said, though, I doubt a significant amount.
  6. He said he planned on retiring after 2012, though. I could see it potentially hurting his trade value, but I doubt that significantly. He already probably doesn't have much trade value – not enough to warrant dealing him, that's for sure.
  7. If he appears to be serious about it, then it eliminates any possibility of an acquiring team re-signing him after the contract. Any team trading for him is guaranteed to only have him for two seasons (2011 and 2012). That said, I don't think it kills his trade value since teams probably don't make trades for near-30 pitchers largely on the basis that they will re-sign said pitcher two years later. It could hurt his value to some extent, however. right. so it doesn't kill his trade value. it might hurt it a little. Yeah, I explained the reasoning behind why it could kill his trade value, but then I agreed with you.
  8. No it is not. I think it is.
  9. Works for any team he bounces to next, I guess. Well, I think they have them for all teams, including an Urlacher jersey (yikes). But it does. A sound investment at $99. I actually like the look of camo. Maybe it's the southern roots. I don't wear any, but it's cool looking.

  12. Generally it's one or the other, I believe. Theoretically they could schedule a neutral site series, or does MLB not allow that?
  13. Bob Melvin re-surfaces . . .
  14. I agree. I also like Stafford better than anybody drafted this year. I still like the upside of Freeman and think he could be the second best of this draft and last. He has some developing to do, though.
  15. Yeah, I've been really impressed with their drafts. They've found good, quality players and seem to be developing them well. Free agency has been solid too, I think. They haven't greatly overpaid anybody and are finding pretty good deals on veterans. I've liked Stafford more than most as well.
  16. Why is Schwartz' approval rating that high? They were outgained by 300 yards and only stayed in the game because the Bears put the ball on the ground a billion times. Maybe voters liked the goal-line stand, I don't know. Even if CJ holds onto that ball and they win, it wouldn't have been because they played well. Because the Lions being close to winning is better than they've had for a long time. It's similar to the reasoning some on here use to defend Hendry - he's been better than the rest of the GMs the Cubs have had in a really long time. That said, I like a lot of what Schwartz/Mayhew are doing in Detroit. That's not a quick fix, but I think they're slowly moving in the right direction.
  17. How is a player with minimal major league experience (much less ML success) more valuable than one of the most elite young closers in the game? I agree that Alonso's ceiling is far better than Marmol's, but Marmol is much more valuable right now. And even though Fuku/Cordero even out the money, you're trading a valuable asset (Kosuke) for a non-valuable asset (Cordero) with both being overpaid.
  18. Figured I'd get a start on this early. Here's a possible tough one: Palmer v Ravens VY v Steelers Favre v Dolphins I'm figuring Favre, but the Viking offense didn't look that good last week and VY and Palmer both put up better fantasy numbers. The Dolphins are probably the weakest defense of the group, but the Ravens without Ed Reed aren't fear-inducing either. But VY's ability to run (and my general homerism) is making me consider him. Thoughts?
  19. Cordero is 35 and hasn't been good at all this year – 4.08 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 53:36 K:BB, 4.67 xFIP. The Marmol/Alonso part kind of interests me (Alonso would have to be the base of any deal I made with the Reds involving Marmol), but Fukudome is way, way more valuable than Cordero.
  20. Well, his first year he wasn't all that great, but I thought in his second year he had an amazing second half which ended up with him having some pretty good numbers. Since then he's been hurt, so I understand why people would be all for adding him. Especially when you take into consideration that the Royals would probably move him for Darwin Bailey at this point. At least we'd get to keep Darwin Barney.
  21. I don't think he gives a reason for opting out in those quotes. He said he's undecided on whether to opt out or not and then says who the new manager is won't affect his decision because who the players are matters more than who the manager is.
  22. Your team must stink because I have no idea who your team is. My team is the Titans, and apparently we don't suck that bad. :D Really good game for the Titans, the defense looked super fast and Vince had a really good game. That deep throw to Washington was beautiful. CJ started off really slow (Oakland bottled him up well), but when he broke out, he really broke. He's such a fun player to watch. If our defense can play that fast and get that much pressure all year and the offense is even just above average, this could be a really good team. There's a lot of youth, though, so I expect some ups and downs. On a side note, if anybody saw the roughing the passer call on Derrick Morgan, I hate that rule. It was the textbook correct call, but you can't flag a defensive player anytime he hits the QB below the knees. I understand it's a safety issue, but there's a whole lot of unsafe stuff in football. That rule hurts the quality of the play on the field and rules simply shouldn't do that (unless it's unavoidable).
  23. Tennessee played very well for a half against Oregon, we just don't have the depth at this point to hang with a good team for four quarters. I feel better about the starters seeing them play so well against a quality Oregon team, but Dooley really needs to recruit well to fix the depth. There's pretty much no depth on this team and the guys who are there suck. The players were obviously tired by late third quarter and it showed in the poor tackling. Also, Darron Thomas is really good at the zone read plays. He rarely makes the wrong decision and it's difficult to tell who has the ball immediately. As for Saturday, I think it'll go much like last week. Tennessee should hang with Florida for a half or three quarters and then the Gators' depth will blow us away.
  24. That would make the season for me. We're probably not better than a 6-win team this year (if that), so beating Florida would be the high point of the year.
  25. They tied a MAC team that went 1-11 last year in total yards last week (turned the ball over 3 times and forced 4) and haven't looked any better so far today. Florida so far looks like a team that might not finish in the top 25. Yeah, they were awful last week and only a little better this week. I don't know if it's a "post-Tebow hangover" but Florida hasn't looked good at all this season.
