  1. I'm not sure this is true at this point. Certainly not through the first 3 games. They're actually a lot closer than I thought they'd be. I think Eli's been slightly better, but not so far this season. Eli's the more talented QB, I think, though.
  2. You're right we can beat any of those teams, but not if we play like we did against UAB. The UAB game has no direct bearing on the rest of the games, but this early on, with this young of a team, it can't be dismissed as a fluke. We played very poorly all the way around and if we do that again against any SEC team, we'll lose. I still think this team is better than it showed Saturday, however. The defense likely won't give up that ridiculous amount of yards very often (if at all again) and I don't think our receivers will drop incredibly wide open passes like Zach Rogers did in the third. I still don't like Matt Simms throwing the deep ball, however – not enough of an arm. I'm still holding to my prediction of 6 wins. I think it's likely we'll beat Vandy and Memphis and have a shot at Kentucky, Ole Miss and Georgia as well. I wish we got Georgia while AJ Green was still out, though. Yeah, the lack of depth on this team is unbelievable. We'll get significantly better just from this year to next if all Dooley does is recruit 25 players and not lose any from this team.
  3. After the Giants carved up our defense last week and the Orton-led Broncos carved up the Colts, this game could get ugly. However, the Bronco receivers are worse than the Giants' receivers and Eli's better than Orton, so hopefully we'll be able to slow them down a bit. A pass rush would be really nice and something the Colts didn't do a bunch – from what I saw – against Denver last week.
  4. I need 98 points tonight out of Aaron Rodgers and Brandon Jackson. Not very likely at all, I'd say. However – and I know this is a Chicago board and it may get me banned but – go Packers.
  5. His hair is worse than his beard there. At least the beard is well-groomed.
  6. There are two reasons I don't think Saturday will be a blowout – 1: LSU hasn't been very impressive this year; 2: It's not a night game at Death Valley, it's a day game. Actually, before Saturday I would have said Tennessee had a chance at an upset over LSU. Now, though, I find it very hard to predict Tennessee to beat any SEC team (except Vandy). So, hopefully we don't get blown out and hopefully Matt Simms survives another game.
  7. Really? I mean I only know a couple of them, but they were pretty upset. Weren't there a number of people calling for his head after the first season? Or was that after his second?
  8. Here's what I know about the Titans. Keith Hernandez, Walt Frazier, and Emmitt Smith need to have talk with Jeff Fisher. His beard is not weird.
  9. There was basically nothing redeeming in Saturday's Tennessee game. We didn't turn the ball over much – that's about the only good thing – but the offensive line continued its quest to murder Matt Simms, receivers dropped open passes and Simms missed on a number of open throws. The running game was basically non-existent as well. I was feeling better after hanging with Oregon for a half and playing Florida tough most of the game, but beating UAB in double overtime hurts that good feeling more than a little. I'm even more glad now that the coaching staff didn't start Tyler Bray since he would probably be broken in half getting hit as much as Simms has. On a related note, are rules different in the NCAA and NFL as far as the rule about catches in the end zone? On a two-point conversion play Saturday, UAB tight end Jeffery Anderson caught a pass in the end zone, got both feet down, but then had the ball knocked out of his hand as he was stumbling out the back of the end zone. It was very similar to the Calvin Johnson play and yet they called it a successful conversion and confirmed it on replay. Am I missing a rule here or was it just a horrid call?
  10. Who? The only arguments I've seen in favor of Boise making the title game is if there's one or fewer undefeateds besides them.
  11. The Titans looked kinda bad, but the Giants were horrendous. The defense, much like last year, was a sieve and the offense, while better than last week, still struggled to get into the endzone. Vince looked a little better, but still has quite a ways to go.
  12. The NFC East may not be either if the Cowboys and Giants don't rebound. An 0-3 team will need to really start playing, but can still get a wild card spot potentially.
  13. The problem is, that's all conjecture. Should a cash-strapped team really give a player, potentially, $2-3 million so that he might possibly be capable of being an above average bat off the bench even though since a major injury he's shown no signs of being capable of returning to that level? I can't imagine there's not a better option out there than Nady – such as Brad Hawpe or Marcus Thames.
  14. Why do you say this? I'd be surprised if we don't wind up with Dunn. I'd be surprised if they do. I don't know that they'll get him, but given that Hendry has had strong interest in the past, I'd say he's a decent bet to end up a Cub this offseason.
  15. I liked the little bit I saw of Joe Webb at UAB, but I'm not sure if he's got the arm upside to be a significantly above average NFL QB.
  16. If Stafford were healthy, I think the Lions could have a chance to win in a shootout. Without Stafford, though, I don't know that the Lions have enough offense.
  17. until he tries to kill again Pirates prefer to just plunder, but they'll kill if they have to.
  18. Anybody who hires Mike Leach made a good hire.
  19. Was he the guy in charge of hiring Mike Rizzo as GM of the Nationals? If so, that appears to have been a really good move.
  20. Heard on the radio that there are rumors New Mexico may fire Mike Locksely and hire Mike Leach.
  21. That's a thought. He might net something at least mediocre just off of name value, even though he's been pretty awful so far. I'm hoping he has a (somewhat) big game against Detroit Sunday, so I may try trading him around it.
  22. It wouldn't surprise me if Gruden's presence in Dallas brought back Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson and Drew Bledsoe just to try them out again. I'd just about guarantee that Jeff Garcia would find his way on the roster there as well. Vinny Testaverde would probably show up uninvited as well. Heck, he'd probably invite Testaverde. You can never have enough QBs in that rotation.
  23. It wouldn't surprise me if Gruden's presence in Dallas brought back Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson and Drew Bledsoe just to try them out again. I'd just about guarantee that Jeff Garcia would find his way on the roster there as well.
  24. Normally I'd go Harvin, but I heard his migraines have started up again. If they affect him on Sunday, he wouldn't be a good option. If he's healthy, though, I'd think Harvin would be the better option - at least until the Chiefs remember that Charles is better than Thomas Jones.
  25. Yeah, I'm not much of a Sanchez fan either, but here's the reason for considering cutting Favre: upcoming schedule - bye, Jets, Cowboys, Packers, Patriots, Cardinals, Bears, Packers. At most, I could see starting him twice in that stretch (Cards and Bears). Comparatively, here's Sanchez's upcoming schedule: Miami, Buffalo, Minnesota, Denver, bye, Green Bay, Detroit, Cleveland. Many more favorable matchups for Sanchez than for Favre, plus Minny's receivers have been bad, while Sanchez will get Holmes back soon. Ryan and Palmer will probably get every, or nearly every, start for the next 4-5 or more weeks anyway. My biggest apprehension with cutting Favre is that the best QB in the history of the game could still appear. I'd probably keep him unless there was a better option out there or until you need to cut him. I'm hanging onto Reggie Bush in a league just because I don't need that roster spot and there's nobody worth picking up at the moment. I don't know how long he'll be out now, but if they agree to a deal at some point soon, you'd have a pretty good receiver available.
