  1. [expletive] Hammel, it's the Nationals!!!!
  2. With the starts I had lined up, it would have been stupid for me to start Anderson at Boston. But, then I lost RJ's start against SD, knocking me down to just 7 starts. It's one of those where all you can do is kick yourself later. At least I'm not kicking myself as hard as Adam is kicking himself for dropping him. I wish you would've benched Shields too.
  3. The players that went from HS/JUCO to signing to being released would be wise to use the scholarship plan (if they have it) rather than wait beyond the two years and have it go to waste trying to play Indy ball.
  4. ouch It's better to be tied than dominated.
  5. His frustration with ownership not paying for premium talent to surround him should take care of that.
  6. BBB, thanks for not starting Anderson.
  7. I'm not sure what this means but the AS week is a week with a game like any other week. In the end, its not that different from the first week of the season. I'm glad I'm playing a good team, but I'm disappointed in a way b/c Grienke was scheduled for 2 starts as well as the smaller sample of points might create more unusual results.
  8. Great start Tim, thanks for the help! You get the better end of the two trades I made with you and then when I want you to win, you start off with a -31 in the 1st inning.
  9. I'm probably higher on Lake than most but probably down on Flaherty and Harrison than most. I somewhat liked Flaherty in Beloit, but recently I have not been as impressed, his bat is getting slower and defensively he's not as sharp as he was earlier.
  10. Hopefully it screws up their swings.
  11. It should be noted that Truffle is tied with CubbieBum in a very close cerebral match-up.
  12. Tied for 3rd with that damn Cards fan.
  13. NC Cubs at The Eyes of Texas Galesburg Hand Sanitizers at Quakers Severe Tooterstorms at The Fighting Manginos Harrys Budcrew at Lynx Fuzzy Logistics at Tampa Bay Rays Valenzuela's Screwballs at Alamo Stealth Tootielicious at Northside Baseball Raw Dawgs at Saber Metrics The battle between the two 1st place teams. I hope we don't use the AS week as far as points.
  14. Nice job by Alamo to likely pull out the win today.
  15. I'd rather not see many Cubs in this game b/c minus Lilly they don't deserve it and they need a break especially Soriano and Harden. It would be nice to give Harden an extended rest.
  16. I keep track of everyone, right now Adam's team has been very good as of late.
  17. Hopefully Navin does well with the two starters tomorrow, I was hoping Adam would lose, but I am more concerned with NCCubs and that Buike will hold him off.

  19. Romero has been a steal for me. Correja (sp?) just got his ass handed to him by Houston. I'm hoping Carmona can come back to somewhat what he was in '07 and be my #5 starter, his 1st two minor outings have been outstanding. Of course, Ian Snell was even better at a higher level in his 1st minor league start, so I'm somewhat pessimistic.
  20. The question is, what good offensive bat can we get this year? Especially if the Baker trade confirms that Hendry is committed to Fontenot at second base? There have been several names mentioned in threads/posts, some that realistically might be had in a trade that involved Wells. The Pirates have always been a good trade partner w/the Cubs and are already selling off pieces. F. Sanchez would be a good/smart target. If they go with Baker/Fontenot at 2B (depending on Baker's health as already mentioned), they'll give that a shot before anything else. They didn't give up much for Baker, so it's worth finding out between now and the deadline whether or not that could be adequate enough for 2B. I doubt the Cubs have the financial ability to add much payroll, which is what makes Bell a nice option given his minimal contract.
  21. Still 17 HRs behind, but only 1 out of being tied for 2nd.
  22. Regardless of UZR, from what I seen of Baker defensively at 2B/3B has not been good. I'll be surprised if he's not a defensively liability in the IF.
  23. While I'm glad it improves the bench at face value, unless they plan at using him at 2B vs. lefties, replacing Fox with Baker as the RH'ed power bat doesn't add any value. Putting Baker and Fox on the bench gives them 3 decent RH'ed options off the bench once Johnson gets healthy.
  24. Bad luck with the schedule. Played teams when they had a good week, for the most part. I know when I beat him, I had around 330 points that week.
  25. Yeah, bad timing. I'm going to the Peoria/Kane county game Friday night and was hoping to see Vitters, too. But it looks like Aramis will be playing 3b for Peoria that night, which helps a little. I'll miss it, if you get tickets behind home plate, you'll prob. see Oneri and/or Randy Bush. Maybe Hendry. I obviously wouldn't bother them while they're working (although plenty of people would recognize Hendry, Oneri and Randy would not recognized by 99.9% of the people).
