  1. How good has the Cubs' offense been? "So far this season, the Cubs have amassed about 400 plate appearances, 11 homers, 35 runs, a 23.9% strikeout rate and a 5.5% walk rate (these numbers are offensive, of course, and, yes, I mean that in multiple ways). All that and more is good for a .635 OPS and a .275 wOBA. In case you're wondering, no, the Cubs position players have not yet attained replacement-level production. With positional, fielding, and baserunning adjustments factored in, they're worth 0.1 wins below a replacement level player." http://networkedblogs.com/KhiBh
  2. That money they have is so back-loaded in mortgage refinancing, they can't sustain any long-term dispute and now with the city involved, they'll have to sue the city of Chicago. The landmark status of Wrigley has always been a greater hurdle than the rooftop owners, best case scenario for the rooftop owner is settling out of court for a fraction of what they want.
  3. I'd trust the resources and attorney capabilities of the Ricketts' to ensure that they've looked at every angle possible for them to move forward and if they thought the rooftops' had a binding agreement that would halt construction, they would've uncovered it. The rooftop owners had a chance to come to some sort of an agreement where both sides could've benefited but they decided not to and will hopefully pay the price for trying to strong-arm the Cubs. I'm glad they've come out looking poorly, they've deserved that reputation long before this, just they just had the advantage of Daley as well as the fact the Cubs wanted public financing, now they have neither at their disposal.
  4. No shocker here but Nerlens Noel has declared for the draft.
  5. Depends on who you listen to. I'm guessing its UK. It's fsu I can't see him at UK, either. I'm guessing FSU.
  6. Why should the Cubs want to work with the rooftop owners? I wouldn't concede on anything if I was the Cubs. Once the Cubs offered to pay for everything, any leverage the rooftop owners had left the building. This battle is finally over, the Cubs have the city as a whole on their side and the blueprints benefit Wrigleyville as a whole and not just a select few by keeping it the same. Let the rooftops sue, lose their money, and lose the case.
  7. Is Sweeney much more likely to be a capable bat than Sappelt at this point? I'd say so. I'd feel better with Sweeney's bat than Sappelt's as a 4th OF'er type. I'd feel better with a guy who can actually hit lefties. Why? They're not doing much better vs. RH'ers either. For me, its about getting the better players out there and while there's only a slight value difference there, Sweeney is a better ballplayer than Sappelt.

  9. Just a random brainstorm, which I hadn't put much thought into. For the MWL, they should consider pushing the league back a month. Of course, it would probably turn into an extended version of the AFL that final month including the playoffs, which is fine. Given the level which often includes the top collegiate draftees at the end of the year, I wonder how MLB would feel about that. For most Aprils up here, it's almost pointless to try.
  10. I just wish the Cubs would call-up Sweeney sooner rather than later. It's more important to have a possibly capable bat in this line-up than carrying an extra 5th OF'er/defensive replacement/pinch-runner as the 25th guy.
  11. What a weird thing to say. He's the basketball equivalent of sugar. It's tastes good and will give you an energy fix but it's not nutritionally valuable for health or a viable fuel for any meaningful amount of time. The Knicks, Celtics, Thunder, Warriors and soon the Bulls agree with me. He's the physical manifestation of the Bulls punting a year and while that was the right thing to do, it's not something that inspires me as a fan. Agreed, there's way too many cold stretches to make up for his occasional good night and he removes any flow to their offense when he's out there. It's never a good thing when a career reserve is leading the team FGA per 48 minutes.
  12. Unless there's something hiding out there, Wiggins is the only other possibility. I was surprised they offered him, he has ties with UK (Estill is his cousin) and if UK didn't offer was headed to WKU. He definitely won't be a one and done.
  13. Cardinals select QB Tyler Wilson QB Arkansas.
  14. UK's salary cap situation will be more interesting. When did the NCAA institute a cap?
  15. UKs depth chart will be interesting if Wiggins does commit. Cant wait for MM.
  16. Who would've thought Heesch would be doing well? I would've never guessed that 2 years ago.
  17. Az will select Alex Okafor Olb Texas. Dew, Ill pm you my buffalo pick.
  18. Goodwon has declared for the draft. WCS is coming back as is Wiltjer at this point. No word on Noel or Poythress. Noel will surely declare and go top 3, probably 1st. Poythress seems likely to go as well... Will Derek Willis make it to campus? Or will he see the writing on the wall and go somewhere else? Every indication has him making it to campus, riding the pine behind Randle and Lee at PF then seeing what happens with Lee assuming Randle goes pro. Hes a minimum 3 yr guy regardless of program. I dont have a problem with Calipari coming up with a BS excuse for Harrow to play and not sit out

  20. Nice pick by the Titans he was the BPA when I picked but went more for need.
  21. Been sick these last 24 hours. sorry about the delay. AZ will prob grab Barkley but I will do them the favor and draft Lane Johnson OT Oklahoma. Buffalo will select Jarvis Jones OLB Georgia
  22. It's an ok hire for UCLA, Howland couldn't enter the wonderful LA AAU pipeline where I think Alford is more than greasy enough to do so and not compromise integrity since he has so little. His coaching style is very similar to Howland, his ability to recruit LA is the only thing he might be better at than Howland. I have no idea how Guerrero is still the AD.
  23. Had Bennett at St Marys not been involved with recruiting violations, he wouldve been perfect for NU instead of Collins given his Aussie connections. I think UCLA should go after Williams at Marq to test waters. Who would be the top assistants right now?
  24. What a goofy camera shot, you can take a pic of Vance like that too and hed look the same.
  25. Minus Campbell last year, I really like the thought process of how Emery has handled FA, I hope I can feel that way about the draft.
