  1. Was I the only one slightly insulted by the shot of NBC celebrating Hispanic Heritage by showing 3 white people looking like the 3 amigos, playing La Bamba with a sombrero on the ground looking for tips?
  2. Locker quietly has been pretty good this year.
  3. The odds of that happening are very low. He's going to get a big offer. He's finally settling in with a competent offensive coach after first dealing with McDaniels then all the Bears rejects. The Bears have the franchise tag. It's just not a huge risk. Yeah. He's not walking. Even if all those things you mentioned weren't in play, he loves it here, has openly indicated in the past that he's not looking to break the bank on his next contract, and his wife has family ties here too (not that it's a huge factor, but just another thing on the pile). Plus, what teams will be looking for a new QB? Clev, Jack, Oak, Az, maybe Minn?
  4. The aging defense is a much greater concern than Cutler heading into next year.
  5. Barring some injury or performance collapse, he's going to get paid. He's playing like a top QB and should be paid as one.
  6. Tillman's health is obviously critical in this one. Long vs Suh on the stunts will be fun to watch.
  7. Bears fear a torn ACL: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-bears-lose-melton-to-injury-20130922,0,4648439.story It looked bad. Id be surprised if he's back.
  8. There was no interior pressure by the DTs, minus that one long run by Forte, they didn't run the ball at all. I hated the passiveness at the end of the 1st half. Pitt changed their.coverage at the end of the 1st half. We'll see if Detroit uses the pump fake. Cutler comes through again when he needs to. Linebackers played great. Better pressure from the ends.
  9. All prospects with ceilings tend to get overvalued b/c of the financial ease they can provide as well as they haven't sank yet. The Cubs philosophy changed once they hired Baker and the emergence of young talent producing, created the perfect storm as far as winning in '03 and '04, rather than trying to win long-term by building from within. After that rush in '02, the talent in the farm dropped off the map.
  10. Im indifferent whether or not they fire Sveum or not. If they do, you can point to the regression of Castro and Rizzo or if they keep him, Id understand too. I will say, if it's a repeat then time to move on. He's done nothing to merit an extension.
  11. Straight-up, I'd take it. Of course, it depends on who your other WRs are.
  12. I don't think a 3.5 yard/carry running back (or any running back not named Adrian Peterson, tbh) is worth even a mid first rounder. He is for the 1st 4-5 years or so, especially hit/miss ratio of mid to late 1st rounders.
  13. That's too much to give up for a 15-20th pick in the 1st. They overdrafted for Richardson last year and they make up for it by getting rid of him for too little. Clev. wants to completely rebuild and traded their likely only position of true 1st rd. value. Quite the battle will arise between them and Jacksonville for Bridgewater.
  14. I like the 49'ers, Packers and the Pats, the Steelers is the worst. I think GBs is as bad as PIT. I think that's why I like it is b/c of how simple it is. Personally, I dislike most of those compared to how they are now. Yet, I like most of the new college unis.
  15. I like the 49'ers, Packers and the Pats, the Steelers is the worst.
  16. It is based on stuff rather than actual projections... Juan Cruz got compared to Pedro as has Ramon Ortiz, small RH'ed Dominican pitchers with high velos, + change-ups, and flashes of a + breaking pitch are going to do that. Little white pitchers with higher velos and a good breaking ball are going to get compared to Oswalt. It's the nature of the beast. Hill had a similar arsenal as Zito, Hill should not have been a considered a top of the rotation guy nor a btm of the rotation guy. He never had the control/command of a star and he had too good of stuff for a marginal pitcher. Comparing Zito to Glavine is a far worse comparison than comparing the stuff of Hill to Zito.
  17. If they unload him, I want Torey Lovullo or Dave Martinez please.
  18. If they unload him, I want Torey Lovullo or Dave Martinez please.
  19. Kelton? Pretty sure he was in the top 50 at one point, probably 2002 I cheated, Patterson was ineligible Kelton was on there as was Nic Jackson.
  20. I imagine Cruz still would have been in the top 50 overall. I'm trying to remember the Cubs in the Top 100 in 02. Patterson, Prior, Cruz, Z, Choi, Hill, Montanez?
  21. The first line I saw was Bears -2 but that one is now -1.5. So people might be betting on Pittsburgh not starting off 0-3, which would seem unthinkable to most coming into the season. I don't bet but given how Pitt looks, I'm surprised that the line is going down.
  22. No, that's what he and Hill projected out be as prospects before showing they were not capable of that. Hill was a 3 pitch pitcher with an average to below average fastball and a below average change. He was never viewed as a top of the rotation guy as a ceiling, more like 3-4 if everything worked out. Marshall was similar with a slightly better fastball and ceiling. Really, because people(media not fans) were picking him to win the Cy Young his rookie year and having that type of talent. http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2007/3/5/11735/47786 sounds like a 5 to me.... So other than that one blog in the preseason who else in the "media" we're calling him a Cy Young type pitcher? That guy sounds like he was thinking ohh a lefty with a crazy curve and no other pitches, oh I know he is going to be Barry Zito! Agreed. The writer didn't even predict him to win the Cy Young award, he called him a sleeper candidate. As mentioned, he had an avg. FB and no 3rd pitch. That main thing was his mechanics, he was never able to repeat his delivery because of his shoulder tilt. While it probably gave him the arm action to have that much break, it also could not repeated enough to where he had the same release point on his FB.
  23. There's a former Cub that doesn't get mentioned much. He might end up as the 2nd best position player drafted under Hendry's regime (already goes to Baez).
  24. Yay? The offensive line still did pretty well despite the tackles grading poorly. Cant say the same for the other side of the ball.
  25. That's one crappy week. I find 3 games that slightly interest me.
