  1. I think they have to bring Azumah back, they have 3 real good CBs, their priority should be bringing as many back as possible and have new starters at TE and K and go from there. I think they have good depth at G with Garza, Brown, and Metcalf. But, they have older tackles w/Tait and Miller. I have my concerns w/Bradley coming back as well as the potential of Berrian or Gage stepping up to be a legit #2 WR. My draft order... TE OT WR K FB DB w/return skills QB
  2. I wish the NFL adopted the same rules as far as endzone celebrations as the NCAA does.
  3. Heck of a run there, great blocking all the way and a great move at the end.
  4. I'd say very slim. He's coming off an extended rest, serious shoulder injury, and he is already well past the point of decline even before factoring his time off last year as well as the shoulder injury.
  5. I value the likely players given up needed to get him over their salary difference. The farm system has been decreasing at a higher rate than I'd like to see even before a simulated trade like this. (Side note and not related to the discussion over Soriano/Walker: I'm very disappointed a thread like this can be shifted over something ridiculous)
  6. I would still use the 2nd rounder on the O-Line, probably OT. Use the 3rd on a WR.
  7. 6 year deals don't mean much in the NFL, they can cut him and not take a serious hit, the contracts in the NFL are usually gauged by the signing bonus. He won't be on the Bears 6 years from now.
  8. Good move locking him up, he provides much needed depth at an important position.
  9. Sosa did many great things while in Chicago and baseball in general. He deserves a great deal of credit for what he has been able to accomplish. I believe he was a terrible teammate and one of the more selfish teammates probably since Maldonado. When there's two sets of rules one for 24 players and the other for one player, the player is at fault as well as coaching staff. He was great at promoting himself and capitalizing off of it and MLB was great at selling it as were the Cubs. You can't ignore the many outstanding things he did and you can't ignore the negatives either. I appreciate what he did, I don't appreciate the baggage that came along with him. It's not an all or nothing scenario.
  10. Soriano is a better player than Walker, just not as good as salary difference indicates or the players req'd to get him to replace Walker. Also, the current line-up composition should play a factor and at this point a hitter that can hit at the top of the order is needed more than a middle of the order hitter, despite Jones right now being the #5 hitter. If Baker has shown more of an open mind with his line-ups I could see a Pierre/Murton at the top, but I doubt that would enter into the equation. For me, if you gave the choice of Walker or Soriano based only on expected production, I'd take Soriano. Give me the choice of Walker, 6mil, and prospects or Soriano. I'd take Walker.
  11. The Beaver County Times also has them interested in Preston Wilson has an insurance policy if Duffy fails in CF, which makes more sense than them signing Sammy. http://www.timesonline.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=15853486&BRD=2305&PAG=461&dept_id=478568&rfi=6
  12. He can be, I consider him to be more of the utility type rather than the 4th OF'er, I expect more offensively out a 4th than what Mabry will provide.
  13. One of the better change-ups in MLB, but no.
  14. I didn't think he had it in him, that was a great kick. Shame, though.
  15. Time to get him out, I want to see Benson.
  16. Brown is also out, which is good. I assume Vasher is out as well.
  17. They should use more trick plays today. Get to 1300.
  18. I'm glad Lovie pulled as many starters as he did, I'd like to see Jones get to 1300 ASAP. I'd probably pull Urlacher and Brown on D. Hopefully after the 1st, he'll go with as many back-ups as possible.
  19. Can I try???? :P (this won't happen but it's fun, so what the heck..) Cubs acquire Abreu (Payroll increases by about 6 mil) Boston acquires Lugo, Pierre, and Williams (Payroll increases by 4mil) Phillies acquire Clement, Baez, and Hill (Payroll remains same) TB acquires Marte & Van Buren (Payroll decreases by 10 mil) Cubs trade Pierre, Williams, and Hill Boston trades Clement, Marte, & Van Buren Phillies trade Abreu TB trades Lugo and Baez. Cubs line-up: Walker-2B Murton-LF Lee-1B Abreu-RF Ramirez-3B Jones-CF Barrett-C Cedeno-SS
  20. If he makes the club, I assume he'd be the 5th OF'er, leaving CP as the 4th and Hairston either as the starting 2B or platoon him at 2B. With that said, the Cubs would need a stronger 4th OF'er instead of hoping for a rebound from Corey. It's an expensive gamble having Corey as your primary back-up option. Personally, I still think they need a 4th OF'er who can hit LH'ers and depending on what type of situation Marrero is looking for, he'd be ideal.
  21. When you're stating "start Hill over Rusch", I wouldn't say that person was overstating the value of Hill, but they're unhappy with the other option (Rusch). I'd have no problem w/sending Hill to Iowa and still smoothing out the rough edges, I'd prefer to see more from the #5 than what Rusch will likely provide.
  22. They're better off trying to see if Willingham can handle it behind the plate in a Piazza-type catching situation (offense, instead of defense). He'd have a very good chance of being the most productive C offensively in the NL. Helms can play 3B and 1B and maybe hits LH'ers at a decent clip, I've never been fond of him though.
  23. You'd enjoy Scout's honor, then.
  24. That clown from UCLA could've been tossed for the last cheap shot.
  25. El Paso sure looks nice this time of year. Nice to see Lewis get up from that hit.
