  1. Phillips hasn't paid too much attention the arms in the minors which are better than the hitters on the farm (minus Brignac and Longoria)
  2. There are some who root for TB (myself included). :)
  3. Heh, Parker and Crosby would send some into a fit of rage.
  4. yeah... and back then, nobody thought Luis Montantez was the second coming of, oh I dunno, Chris Burke? I dodn't remember what exactly people thought of him, but I do remember a very negative vibe about him. Everybody thought it was a low risk low reward type pick. Nobody was all that high on him. Everything I read on it was that it was a pre-draft deal and while he wasn't considered the 3rd best player avail., he would be an easy sign.
  5. Granderson is a very good defensive CF'er. His jump in numbers is b/c he's hitting an amazing amount of XBH, he's on pace to surpass what Ryno did '84 as far as the 20TR (Ryno had 19), 20HR, and 20SB. While I doubt he'll con't this pace, he's a very good player regardless. What he is doing right now, might not be too far off of what Pie's ceiling is (Hopefully Pie will hit for a better avg. and make more contact long-term)

  7. Mine is good at getting traffic in the background.
  8. You would face Tim to get to the Elite 8.
  9. I'd imagine so. CCP, get 17 or so posts and you could sneak into the spot vacated by ZZThorn.

  12. yea. dude its a 50 round draft. the tallent has to be deep. I doubt it'll go more than 30 rounds.
  13. I don't think ZZ should be allowed.
  14. This one I like. :)
  15. That would be impossible to throw a change-up at 42 MPH and not have it look like 16 inch softball. Even the Eephus pitch is about 10 MPH quicker than that.
  16. IMB doesn't have premium. So no.
  17. I voted yes, but considering I'd have more no than yes, it might not be a good thing. :)
  18. He'd be better off saying that he's going to throw 98 pitches at or below the knees. His velo isn't as bad as his location right now.
  19. Although I don't like going by website reports and not having seen them, I'd have to go with Smoker despite the size and velo being less.
  20. yeah, i won't bitch about the cubs wasting millions on samardzija and other assorted major league players, but then all of a sudden having to obey slot money the year that a big piece to the puzzle is available in the draft. So who are you bitching at? I have no idea. Just bitching in general. It still seems ridiculous to me that the Cubs have to be handcuffed by money during this draft, when the actual budget for a draft is such a small part of the overall spending on the team. It seems to me that as long as the Trib owns the Cubs, they should operate like a large market team, and the next person coming in knows that they're buying a large market team. Every team is handcuffed by slotted amounts and each team goes beyond it at various times, MLB does frown upon it. I'm sure the Cubs heard about it from Selig. MLB may frown upon it, but those slot figures are purely recommendations and completely unenforceable. If MLB tried to hold teams to the slot figures without it being collectively bargained through MLBPA, they'd be in court on collusion charges (again) in no time. They're not enforceable but slotted amounts set the standard as far for signing bonuses.
  21. It doesn't work like that though, there's a reason why the slots are so important to the draft and signs. What happens if they don't? I have no idea, but I assume MLB is under bend but don't break type of ploicy.
