  1. If you ever read anything awesome about pitching in regards to mechanics, etc. then you were reading him. Which is odd, b/c I'll be working with a kid this Summer on his hitting (which I feel more comfortable doing compared to pitching).
  2. Vote how you like. http://youtube.com/watch?v=UAy8d0oyElg
  3. To quote Digable Planets.. I'm cool like dat. http://youtube.com/watch?v=pK-JkHDAW7A
  4. I moved out over 8 years ago, my parents could use the company.
  5. IU vs. UK. That could get ugly. I will definitely bring out the mudslinging campaign if that matchup were to happen. It would be interesting.
  6. Wow that's really cool. How long ago did you move? '86. Sweet man. It's a shame you moved. I missed Lake Forest when I moved, but my parents got a bigger house on the lake from it.

  8. I spent my 1st 10+ years in Lake Forest before moving further N. I grew up a short distance from LFC.
  9. Meh, this coming from someone from my hometown.
  10. This one wasn't fun. :)
  11. man...i think id rather listen to hawk for an inning....good job z IWU, are those Frat houses across the street still taunting and watching baseball games at IWU?
  12. http://pgcrosschecker.com/draft/2007/notebooks/allansimpson/draft_2007.aspx 1st 3 rounds' bios. They should make your cheap ___ pay for it~!
  13. I hate how much teams use small ball when just about every hitter in most of these lineups could easily HR. You wouldn't like to watch Creighton then, they are known even by college coaches as a heavy small ball team at all points of a game.
  14. That curve to Renteria is prob. the diff between AA hitters and a good veteran ML hitter. It was a little up, most hitters would've rolled over it or got underneath it and weakly flied out to RF on weak swing. I felt Gallagher did very well.
  15. There's a hitter in Boston with a great eye at the plate also with 20-10 vision. Williams I believe had it and so does that Chubby greek guy.
  16. Close but no, that neighborhood has no resemblance to Naperville, trust me.
  17. If you're wondering about Carlos Rivera out of East Aurora, yes I've seen him, I went to their 1st game. There are 3 scouts that know about him, I have to give Zielinski credit, I didn't say anything about him and I know my boss didn't. He's about 6'2" 185 R/R. Fringy tools across the board, big for a CF, great pick for spot and will prob. sign. 35/45 hit 30/40 power 45/45 runner 45/45 arm 40/45 field
  18. A running back with more than 2,000 rushing yards as a high school senior, Guyer entered Virginia as a better football player than baseball player. But he has made significant strides in all areas in his development and projects as a fourth- or fifth-round pick. Guyer has a strong, powerful, athletic body and his speed and power potential are both solid-average to plus tools. He can run the 60 in 6.6 seconds and should be a base stealer in pro ball. His power should evolve as he moves away from Virginia ’s spacious ballpark. Guyer hit .369-7-47 with 18 stolen bases this season—better numbers across the board than projected first-round teammate Sean Doolittle—but he’s not a lock to hit at the next level as he’s a bit of a free swinger and there’s some stiffness in his hitting approach. He gets high praise for his competitive approach
  19. Barney is a scappy little player who was a steadying influence at shortstop for Oregon State in 2006 as it made its improbable run to a College World Series title. He has continued to be the glue in the middle infield this year for the Beavers, playing with energy, confidence and flair. He is a very fluid, instinctive player in the field with an uncanny ability to anticipate plays. He has first-step quickness with plenty of arm strength when he needs it. None of his other tools have game-changing ability, but all play with the exception of power. He is a marginal hitter, at best, because he doesn’t put the ball in play with consistent, hard contact, but he has a knack for hitting in the clutch. He was hitting just .293 this year as the Beavers entered regional competition, but had 45 RBIs in 55 games. His raw speed is also just average, but he uses it well as he has excellent instincts on the basepaths. If a team believes Barney can play shortstop on an everyday basis in the big leagues, he could go as high as the second or third round. But most clubs have cast him as a utility player, capable of playing second base and center field in addition to shortstop.
  20. Ely is a South Sider as well.
  21. Thomas was not an unknown before the 2007 season; he’s been Florida State ’s starting second baseman since day 1 of his freshman year and has shown his tools and athletic ability frequently—but never consistently. But no one could have predicted Thomas’ breakout junior season that has cast him into National player of the year consideration. Thomas was hitting .448-9-40 with 28 doubles, 77 runs and 24 steals through May 12, after not hitting over .300 his first two seasons. The big difference can be seen in Thomas strikeouts, which have gone from 75 as a freshman to 66 as a sophomore to only 33 in 2007. Thomas credits swing adjustments for his surge and scouts say that he’s much shorter to the ball this year and more consistent in his approach. The extra-base power is real and should remain consistent at the professional level, too. The rest of Thomas’ athletic package is worthy of top round selection. He’s a 6.7 runner with athletic quickness and balance, which gives him plenty of range at second base.
