Wuertz and Gregg aren't very similar. Gregg's best pitch is his sinker, he doesn't have near the slider that Wuertz does and Wuertz doesn't have the same FB, change, splitter as Gregg. Even though Gregg has below avg. command/control it is still better than Wuertz.

What does $7.5m have to do with anything? Gregg is due a big raise in arbitration and is going to be a free agent soon. You can be certain Hendry has thought long and hard about signing him longterm. That and the years are what Hendry likely had to calculate between Wood and Gregg. They didn't want to bring back Wood for what he's asking and had to replace him. Gregg even with his arby raise isn't going to get close what Wood is going to cost, I'm sure Hendry has thought about locking him up long-term, although I doubt he'll do it this off-season. Ideally, Gregg signs a one year deal, has an outstanding year and puts himself into a Type A FA and the Cubs get a decent draft pick.

I don't know what other moves can be made by saving the 7.5+ mil and years in this deal, but Gregg is a slightly above avg. reliever with slightly above avg. stuff without a true out pitch. They still another reliever, IMO. Going from Gregg to Wood is a decent step backwards as far as a player to player comparison. I would like to see Gregg throw that splitter more than he does.

From what I recall, Pie maybe except for his 1st year in the DWL has never hit well there for whatever reason.

Well, I did take a minimal stance that of this minute in time, today, I dont see Rich contributing to the Cubs organziation anymore. So are there any other conflicting viewes? He'll never have great command and control, his delivery will always restrict that, there are too many parts moving and with that shoulder tilt ala Guidry, everything has to be aligned perfectly. Hill was strong before this last outing which indicates more physical (mechanics) than mental, he's worth keeping in the organization even with his "one pitch" although his FB generates plenty of swings and misses given how good his curve is and how well he hides the ball. I'm not counting on him coming back, the Cubs aren't either, but hopefully like the Cubs I wouldn't give up just yet on him given how good he was in '07 with one pitch and poor command.

Sarcasm and elitism aside, I already made mention that the only reason I have personally to believe in Rich is the one season. That was kind of my point. Was that one season enough to convince people he can come back at equal or better value, or is he done? It was a simple question, and honestly your response pisses me off.
