  1. Eh if we had gotten Mazzone, we'd just win 100+ games next season and lose in the first round. Dammit, Hendry just wants the WS ring I guess. :P
  2. I think what we do with Jose Macias will be a big indicator of the approach this offseason. Please don't resign him. I could live with Neifi! IF he was used as a backup, maybe coming in for defensive purposes in the late innings, like the Red Sox did with Pokey Reese. The problem though, as we have discussed ad nauseum, is that Dusty will take a Ronny Cedeno 0-3 with a walk and say he is slumping and then we'll see Neifi! start the rest of the year. Again.
  3. About all I have to say about that is if Baker knew how to handle a pitching staff, we'd never be having this conversation, since either Prior would have been pulled sooner in Game 2, thus giving him maybe 15-20 extra picthes in Game 6, or, failing that, Baker would have had Farnsworth up after the Pierre double, or, finally, not had him immediatly throw 4 high and outside to the first guy he faced, or decided to go with the Alfonseca v Harris matchup in Game 1, or... I guess I could go on, but I'll get even more angry. My point is, Kyle was the least of the problems in the NLCS. I still contend that if Baker had just gone to the mound to talk to Prior, calm him down, try to help him get his focus back, we might not be having this discussion. But, so it goes
  4. um what does that even mean? :? it's probably better that i don't know. team chemistry seems bogus to me. Bradley would be a vast improvement over CPat, and preferable to lofton, IMO. i'd rather have bradley in CF b/c it would mean keeping Pie in the minors for 1-2 years. Pie is all hype so far and has many things to work on. What came first: The winning or the chemistry? Or the Misery or the music?
  5. They also have a pretty good trading chip in Bill Hall. His numbers this year were fantastic. I wouldn't mind him if all other SS options fail.
  6. I read that as well. I also read they wanted Overbay too. They would give up some good talent I imagine, so if Prince is ready, it might not be a terrible idea for the Brewers. Arroyo, Lester and a few others perhaps?
  7. I just think it is worth noting how good of a CF (Offensively) Bradley could be. Take his career line of .269/.350/.426. While none of those numbers exclaim hall of fame, that OPS would have been 5th highest in the National League. I realize he has character flaws, big ones. But that is Dusty's supposed strength. I hope we land Bradley because he has tremendous offensive potential. Also, it would be a very good move for JH, who needs to have a very good offseason, and this type of "buy-low" move would be a great start.
  8. However, I believe Hendry will go in that direction that is, pitching, defense and speed. Something like signing Furcal and trading away Walker to go with Cedeno at 2B along with going hard after Burnett and Milwood. I just don't understand why it has to be one or the other with so many of baseballheads. Some guys can do both well!
  9. Not saying that this wouldn't be a sweet trade, but what would some ideas be for RF? Giles still? Maybe another trade for Wilkerson or Guillen? Nomar? I just don't wanna see Jim say, "Well we upgraded at x, y and z, why not resign Burnitz..."
  10. Also shout-outs to stupid Neifi Perez, Jose Macias, Lenny Harris, Damian Miller, Paul Bako, Damian Jackson, Rey Ordonez, Shawn Estes, Dave Veres and any other ridiculous "players" the Cubs have put out on the field in the past few seasons.
  11. Dude, havent you been following baseball? The Wild Card team always wins the World Series ! Go Astros.
  12. I hate the White Sox. The only two good things that ever happened to that franchise were Disco Demolition (pretty sweet) and Bill Veeck.
  13. Here comes the 7th trumpet...  Go Astros!
  14. I agree. Gotta root against the DH, and against the team whose fans were pulling REALLY hard for the Marlins in 03. Some bars offered free beer for every Marlins home run...
  15. The whole article can be read here: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/4984978 If the Yankees offered ARod for Wood and Williams I think Hendry would have that deal done in a second. (I know, I know, assuming Wood waives the no trade clause) Even though it just opens the door to more fairly baseless assumptions: would Kerry waive his clause to go to the Yanks? I think that's the key question in this scenario. I think Hendry is most likely to let him go than Prior, Z, or Aram. We'd be robbing the Yankees blind if they agreed to Wood and Williams straight-up. Unless we took on the entire contract. Even if we take on the whole contract, it is still only part of the original 25 mil contract, because the Rangers still pay part of that. We'd only be paying about 5-6 mil next year, since Wood is making 10+.

  17. Not that this guy knows what he's talking about, but it is interesting to see someone else thinking what we're thinking: The whole article can be read here: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/4984978
  18. If the Sox win the World Series I am scared for two reasons: One, the whole Golden Trumpet end-of-the-world thing, and two, and really, more importantly, I am worried that the Cubs will look at the Sox team, see low OBPs up and down the lineup, and say "Look, we don't need OBP to be successful, just look at the White Sox." So instead of landing OBP, we again focus on tools...
  19. Gino's East is king, IMO. Viccino's in the suburbs ain't bad either.
  20. Hey thanks D! Any ideas on what this guy will command? Also, does anyone have his adjusted stats?
  21. Gesundheit ! Whoah! IN STEREO!!
  22. Gesundheit! Actually I have only heard about that guy, but people liken him to Smoltz. I have little faith in our ability to land imports, seeing as they mostly like to auction themselves off to the highest bidder, for a price that is often too high (Contreras, Kaz). Anybody have more info on him?
  23. Man, I didn't know they were from Chicago? course not, it is well known the Giles brothers hail from the SoCal shoreline, Brian from El Cajon, CA, and Marcus from SD. Uh. I think he was being sarcastic. Yeah, guess I wasn't clear there. But obviously upgrading our team with both Giles' brothers would make us much better. However I really don't think that will happen. We might land one, and if we do, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Marcus, only because Hendry has a better track record, IMO, with trades than with free agents. And I think that Giles will probably be back in San Diego next year.
