  1. I think he did turn a corner. In addition to adding about 25 walks, he also struck out more, because he was seeing more pitches per at bat. If he posts a 340+ OBP, we have ourselves the offensive equivalent of Andruw Jones in CF. Sure, he's probably overpriced and not as good as Jones, but we got some firepower now.
  2. Well, we have a good offensive CFer now.
  3. I'd rather they did this: 2B Theriot LF Murton CF Soriano 3B Ramirez 1B DLee (until back to form, then swap with Soriano) RF Jones CA Barrett SS Izturis Under no circumstances should Izturis start. God! Can we put Theriot at short? The thought of RonCe or Izzy at short gives makes me vomit.
  4. So the Cubs now have the best lineup in the division. Can we still sign Drew?
  5. Yeah, I'm sure they're still laughing after they were able to steal Hee Seop Choi for only Derek Lee. Eh, that was old Jim Hendry. I dont know where that guy went.
  6. The Marlins just know Hendry is a dunce and are trying to play him again. http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/8094/dec5334un1.jpg
  7. If the Cubs could substitute Jock for Murton, I'd absolutely love this deal. Which tells me the Red Sox probably wouldn't go for it. Actually, they might be stupid enough to do it. After all, they traded Murton away in the first place, and plus Jock is an established major leaguer.... :P Plus, Jock can play CF!!!!! ;) Not at Wrigley apparently.
  8. Steve Karsay? or Kyle Farnsworth? Carl Pavano. His contract is a nice bargaining chip. You win. That's an even better joke. I'm serious. Offering to take back Pavano's entire contract along with ARod could signifigantly reduce the player cost needed to trade for ARod. It's one of the only cards in our deck. We don't have enough tradable assets to compete against the other teams likely to want ARod. The ability to take on salary is one thing that we do have. I suppose it's worth it to get A-Rod. Buuuuuut, Pavano hasn't pitched in like 2 years.

  10. Steve Karsay? or Kyle Farnsworth?
  11. Rotoworld sums it up best by basically saying this is a [expletive] move. Jimbo is sucking lately, but he didnt just trade for Jaret Wright. Which is nice.
  12. Oh yeah, I completely forgot about Southern Illinois (like every good Chicagoan) :D . It's basically like two states anyways. You mean south of the skyway right? That's still Illinois?
  13. Supersub? I'm sold. But I dont think he can stay healthy long enough to be a starter.
  14. Looks like Liriano is taking his first step towards becoming a Cub reliever.
  15. Like so many other moves/trade proposals, acquiring Gagne is dependent on what else we do. If we trade a reliever and don't resign Wood, it could be a good move. But, as great as Gagne has been, I think Offense and starting pitching is a bigger problem.[/i]
  16. Death monkey, do you hang out at HyperRust or the Rust list?
  17. Our teams blow.
  18. Dave Soup Campbell is just chillin in his retirement community.
  19. When they bring back Soup Campbell, I'm there.
  20. It'll be nothing compared to the 3/30 Jimbo gives Jeff Suppan.
  21. If he hits .260 is like saying if Murton hits 50 HRs it will be a monster season. Dunn has only hit .260 once as a full-time player. Dunn for Jones - great. Dunn for Jones plus a pitching prospect - maybe. Dunn for Hill or Prior - no way. Except, not quite. Murton has never hit 50 hrs, but Dunn has hit .260. I'm just saying it would be like getting Hafner, if he just hit .260.
  22. Good thing we traded all those pitchers last year for Pierre. D'oh.
  23. I think, as Vance always  says, that Dunn would be a huge addition to our "offense." He provides excellent OBP and excellent slugging. If he hits .260, you are looking at a monster season. He's only 26. There aren't many power hitters available this offseason, and far fewer available ones who are on teams that have [expletive] GMs, like the Reds. Even Hendry should realize that rarely (go to hell, Tony Bautista) are 40hrs a bad thing.
  24. I was thinking about a former Indian, Coco Crisp. Think Boston might be willing to try out Jones as their CFer? Lord knows we'll never think of that idea.
